My friend says FUNi is doing the OVA
Well I just got an e-mail from a friend and he says that us Americans will get a dub of the I was wondering if this is true (and wondering) also if they do it will it be "remastered" to make crap (in my opinion) look crappier?

@ midoco13: Just out of curiosity, how did you come across this forum? It was predicted that as promotion for the live-action movie began (more specifically the trailer) we would most likely see an obvious influx of members, which seems to be happening. So did Fox's live-action adaptation have anything to do with your coming here? There's nothing wrong if it did, I'm just a curious guy.

I'm not expecting that. The Podcast hasn't really gone into detail about the movie yet...SSj_Rambo wrote:I don't see it as odd, I'm expecting it to happen (like how the same thing happened when the podcast started). I think he's referring to (I'm assuming) increased traffic to the site and forum as a result of the podcast... Not increased traffic due to the podcast reporting on the movie.Forgotten Hero wrote:I'm not expecting that. Actually... That almost seems redundant in a way, but, whatever.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see a release of the Playdia footage at some point (FUNi can only release the Dead Zone so many times), but nothing has really been said at this point.
We can only hope, though, I guess. It's probably the one piece of the franchise that could be significantly improved by a dub soundtrack. I've had that stupid special on my hard drive for years and still haven't made it through the whole thing 'cause of that droning bgm.

My question is, has this not been licensed because of Bandai's role in the production? Do they hold some say in whether it can be licensed? I would assume that FUNimation would have whored this special out long ago, unless there was some blockade to their acquisition of the footage.Hao_Kaiser wrote:I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see a release of the Playdia footage at some point (FUNi can only release the Dead Zone so many times), but nothing has really been said at this point.

As for the footage, it'd be awesome if Funimation somehow got Pony Canyon to remaster the footage like they did the episodes and movies. Then we would be the only country with a remastered version of the "OVA". Of course Funi will never let anyone else remaster any footage that they plan on releasing, but I like to dream. Heck, if Funi gave the footage the same remastering process that they give the movie double features, but keep it in 4:3, it would be a better quality (footage wise) release than the Dragonbox one.
Hey, I liked the soundtrack.Hao_Kaiser wrote:We can only hope, though, I guess. It's probably the one piece of the franchise that could be significantly improved by a dub soundtrack. To bad it is really unlikely will never get anything good, footage and voice acting wise, from Funimation.

It’s just coincidence, and likely will be until the movie actually comes out. Once April rolls around though, you can probably expect a lot of new users to start popping up.SSj_Rambo wrote:I don't see it as odd, I'm expecting it to happen (like how the same thing happened when the podcast started). Even if they do have a say, they certainly aren’t making any more money off of the guides/games, so I see no reason to guard it from potential investors. Especially when they allow the dubbing of all of their other video game-related properties.MajinVejitaXV wrote:My question is, has this not been licensed because of Bandai's role in the production? It seems, my friend, that you are failing to realize that there's a site too!Boltar wrote:It's an OVA (no quotes, and it's not playdia footage either)."OVA" [...] Playdia footage

“Well... there sorta is.” The title was wrong before; now it’s misleading. Toei officially recognizes the animation as an OVA. It was on VHS before it was featured in a video game.Big Momma wrote:It seems, my friend, that you are failing to realize that there's a site too!

Toei has a site, too. And they have サイヤ人絶滅計画 ("The Plan to Destroy the Saiyans") listed as an "OVA" from August of 1993.Big Momma wrote:It seems, my friend, that you are failing to realize that there's a site too!Boltar wrote:It's an OVA (no quotes, and it's not playdia footage either)."OVA" [...] Playdia footage
