If he really is just a clueless moron in school with wide eyes I will seriously reassess my opinion on this movie.
Remember waaay back when the first leaked
photos of Goku at school came out? The leakers also mentioned that Goku gets hit by the yellow car (looks like a daytime scene); with the leaked footage we know the yellow car appears again when Goku takes on the bullies at night. I'm assuming the car belongs to one of the bullies.
Here's my assumption: Toward the beginning of the school scenes Goku gets hit by a car, walks it off like it was nothing. Bullies probably think "What the frick." Later in the day the bullies mess with Goku's friends, Goku then steps in and puts them to shame.
So, we know Goku's getting a huge appetite (the drumstick, hot dogs), and is freakishly strong enough to weird out the guys at school. I wouldn't be surprised if Goku's clueless aspect also comes into play-- especially when he gets hit by the car. I'm really curious to see how Chatwin's going to play that one.

The idea of Goku being "unpopular" at school seems to have caused everyone's impressions of him to be that of a nerd, or brainy or something. But that's not necessarily the case.
When you think about it, wouldn't a goofy, naive, carefree, kindhearted and helpful guy be just as much of a target for petty bullying? A "goody-two-shoes hick?" Especially one who might not be very good at much of anything school-related but kenpo club. But when he doesn't react to that bullying at all because he doesn't "get it," how much more would that affect it?

Wasinthemovie (an extra on the first 6 days or so of shooting, who was proven to be legit) said Goku is supposed to hold back his power in high school because his grand father told him too. He said they were supposed to act shocked if Goku did something that showed his strength.
Chi-Chi is also in high school and dating Texas Battle's character, so I'm guessing when Goku looks at her Texas Battle gets pissed and his "posse" grabs those poles (as seen in the expo footage) and tries to beat up goku, thus smashing the windshield TRYING to hit him, and Goku doing that flip between the bullies and kicking them both at the same time.
From there, Goku's and Chi-Chi's "relationship" begins to blossum and Jamie Chung confirmed Chi-Chi also wants to be a fighter.
Then, of course, Goku comes home from a glorious day of high school and finds his grand father brutally murdered.
It was also said that once Goku and Bulma meet each other and meet Master Roshi, that Roshi fights Goku to see if he is Gohan's grand son. When he fights him, he's shocked that he's even stronger than him. Etc. etc.
From there Roshi tells them about Piccolo, they go in the desert looking for a dragon ball and meet Yamcha, and so on and so forth.
The source for all of that is interviews and articles found on my site. I remember them all pretty clearly.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Is it weird that 3 posts on a single page actually made me a little anxious to see this movie?
The only issue I have in Jappo's description is the fact that this Goku seems a little more romantic then the original clueless kid.

It makes me worry more about ChiChi, sorta.
*flashbacks to her first appearance* On second thought...

Yeah if Chi Chi would hit on a dirty bandit I have no issue with her dating Flash Thundershorts (or whatever his name was.) But Goku had no interest in any female.
However now apparently he's looking lovingly at Chi Chi in this movie...or so it would seem so I don't know what to make of that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that part was guesswork. We don't know how it's going to play out quite yet.

Well Texas Battle said "we get into a fight because he wants my girl" or something to that effect.

Well ok.
I've been googling a few sites which say Goku fights the bullies because they're picking on Teto. Any truth to that one?

Well Texas Battle said "we get into a fight because he wants my girl" or something to that effect.
It would be a blast if Texas Battle was inflating his role and all Goku says to Chi Chi was something as simple as "Hiya, I'm Goku!" Setting Battle off into a jealous rage being the over protective boyfriend he is.
(That's just in my dream movie though.)
I really hope Goku is foolish in this movie and true to his character. Chatwin said he read a lot of the manga but that doesn't mean the script writer did.

I don't see how the "Carey dating Chi-Chi" thing makes sense, since other accounts have said Chi-Chi's only interested in Goku, her friend since childhood. Carey may actually be inflating his role somewhat, but I suppose we'll see.

Goku's generally the one to set people straight whenever they come at him. We've seen little Goku pound away at monsters and people who've tried attacking him. And it's usually one or two hits that ends up causing anyone else who gets any ideas to give up any bright ideas they might have.
Goku may be kind-hearted, goofy, naive and carefree, but when someone tries any funny business with him, he usually didn't stand for it.

Sorry, I was a little unclear. I didn't necessarily mean flat-out shoving around or physical abuse. Obviously Goku isn't the type to let people do that to him, and odds are he'll only retaliate against Carey when he actually does that. But he does strike me as the kind of guy to be oblivious to sarcasm and name-calling. Psychological tactics are usually lost on people without any brains.

From liveactionanime.org-
"The bully at school is known as Carey Fuller and is being played by American actor Texas Battle. The role is relatively small but is beaten badly by Goku after hurting Goku’s friend Teto."
"The role of Goku’s school friend Teto is being played by Mexican actor Luis Arrieta. A relatively minor role, but important because he is rumored to be a replacement for Krillin who has not yet been mentioned in anything relating to the movie. Teto is picked on by Carey Fuller and Aguandas until Goku steps in and helps his friend."
I keep seeing this repeated at other sites, but it's probably guesswork since I can't find any substantial source.

Interesting. I'm a frequent member over at LAA, and I've never seen that bit before. I'll have to ask them where they got it from.

Yeah, looking into it now... Not only did he film for just one day, he also claims he didn't get to see any fighting:

So no action for Teto/Weaver after all, I guess.

I feel it's the closest thing we've seen to Goku in this movie so far.
