OH, in that case, yeah, nothing I can really think of that Viz didn't at one time have uncut for those first 16 volumes.
(*Thought you meant the entire series*).
I can forgive Djinn, because that's just Viz being fancy, but I don't see why they needed to change Vejitto/Vegetto/Vegito/whatever-the-preferred-spelling when Funi went ahead and kept it.
Either way, nowadays I go out of my way to avoid buying Viz's products in general as its clear that by buying One Piece and Case Closed/Detective Conan that I wasn't going to help get those titles released any faster. ^^;
I'm not going to give them my money if all they spend it on is a single title I don't even care about.
That being said, no matter how popular he is right now, the loud ninja doesn't have his own Macy's Day Parade balloon either.

Naruto is Viz's cash cow, now.
They'll be damned if they don't get that float in there at some point.
Archer: "I watched it over and over. Meaningless massacres, meaningless equality, meaningless happiness! I was forced to look at them even when I refused to. This is not what I wished for. I did not become a guardian for this!"
Shiro-"Archer, do you regret your actions? I won't lose to you. I don't mind losing against someone else. But I can't lose against myself"

I hope they don't.
Its not really the series itself that bugs me, its more my experiences with it.
I'd support Pokémon over loud ninja
any day.

...and Americans change names in French comics without anyone really caring. Really, it's more a case-to-case basis (and French comics not having so many die-hard fans able to read the originals/scanslated versions of the originals).
EDIT: Oops, how did I manage to misquote like that? >_<

Back in the 90's, it was definitely popular, but as it stands, Pokémon was, and still is, probably the most popular anime in the U.S., and Naruto and Bleach are pretty much the successors to Dragon Ball Z currently.
It's a shame One Piece never caught on in America like Naruto and Bleach did...

While this is true that Naruto and Bleach are the current "ZOMG itz from Japan!!!!!11one" anime series right now, I don't think they're as popular as the DBZ fever was when it was at it's peak.
Last time I checked Naruto and Bleach never had their own toys in the Kids Meal at Burger King

(I really hope I'm not wrong about that, I can't even remember the last time I had a kids meal)

Given that Bleach is on Adult Swim with a tv pg-tv 14 rating and has lots of blood and cursing, it's rather unlikely it would have a kids meal behind it.

Yes it really is a shame seeing as One Piece is much better than both of those shows. After what 4kids did to it nobody will ever take it seriously. Pokemon probably takes the cake for being more popular but DBZ was a Juggernaut too. It got to the point where it all they showed on Toonami. Everyone knows about or has at least heard of it. Whenever people see a show with spikey haired characters they almost always relate it back to DBZ.

Tell me about it.
It's so bad here in Australia (thanks to our douchebag distributor) I have to import the DVD's from the states.

Are you sure Pokemon was more popular than DBZ back in 1999-2000 or so?
I remember DBZ being #1 on the search engines with Britney Spears being 2nd. I can't remember #3.

I've been waiting for an opportunity to bring this up.
On Youtube when you type the D into the search Dragonball Z is the 8th result down.
When typing in DR it is #1 on the search results.

Well the older fanbase where the ones who were on the search engines back then. Back then, Pokemon's younger fanbase outnumbered its older fanbase 200 to one.

I seem to recall DBZ being #2 on some search engine I can't remember the name of (I think it began with an L), and Pamela Anderson bing #1. Yeah, Pamela Anderson.
So, uh, back on topic...

1999-2003... if any random person saw anything DB-related... "Oh, you mean that Pokemon-thing?" Or "It's basically the same as Pokemon". "'You got your Pokemon stuff?"
... This being after I ftried very hard to hate Pokemon (Hm. There's a pathetic story in that...). So, yeah, bloody well frustrating as all getout.

I get tired of seeing Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards everywhere - in part because I'm a DB/Z fangirl who wishes to see more DB related merchandise in the local stores... you hardly see any DBZ stuff here at all (besides the brick sets).
I could never get into either Pokemon or YGO,, and IMO Pokemon's been done to death.
Just Saiyan...

It was 50Lycos.com or Lycos50.com or something... I was 8 (2002) when I saw DBZ at #1 and it stayed at that spot for a VERY long time. (Amazing how I remembered something from 6 years ago.

)
EDIT: Ah, here it is!
http://50.lycos.com/121206.asp Dragonball's at #12.
Wow, I CAN'T believe freakin' WWE, golf, Britney Spears, spyware (WTH?!), Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson and Runescape are MORE POPULAR than DB/Z!!! What has the world come to?!

Ah well... at least DB/Z's more popular than Naruto and Clay Aiken.

I'd say Dragonball Z through its syndication(1998/1999-2003) was most popular Anime in North America. But today, I'd say Naruto and Bleach are tied. That isn't to say those two are the best in syndication. I'm still waiting for Nogami Neuro and more Genshiken.
If you wanna read some high schoolers' opinion on this as it relates to Toonami...
Here, just go down to "Dragonball Z: Outsider to House Hold Name" and so on.
