Holy shit, man!

You are a better and greater fan than any of us puny mortal n00bs.

... What was this topic about, again...?

... Oh, right, podcast! :D Not sure about LoGII as #5 (I'd've chosen mabye Advance Adventure or one of the Buku... games, myself) but I totally agree with Budokai 3 as #1. Hail to the King (of DBZ games)!

Seriously, though, that must've hurt like Hell... mad props, dude, mad props. Simply certifiably lunaticial props...

In response to what we all think of the Buu saga, I really enjoyed watching it the first time, even though it had many snore worthy parts in it. Still I find many things about it likable. The light hearted manner of some parts of the saga was a welcome return to the series' roots but the humor didn't detract from the seriousness of other more dramatic scenes for me.

The battles where what we as fans came to expect. Even better, while Mr. Toriyama decided to create a SSJ3 form, that was not the most important "transformation" of the saga. Instead he developed the much more creative idea of Fusion, in not one but two ways, something only glanced at before with the Namekians and different from that actually. This idea was much more refreshing then falling back on old cliches.

I also found the development of some of the old characters made sense (especially in the case of Gohan and Vegeta), as well as the friendship between Goten and Trunks. Some favorite characters of mine got a chance to shine as well as to be introduced (like Videl, etc). This final saga also continued the theme of redemption and perseverance that I have seen throughout all of Dragonball (aside from GT). Overall, an enjoyable saga despite it's length, number of filler episodes in the anime and not being my most favorite saga.

. . . On the topic of video games, I am sort of the opposite of Mike and Mari, in that I love the Sparking! series the most, since I get a range of motion not seen in the other games. I also do not consider it a button masher if you master the controls, as there are plenty of ways to out flank, attack and defend against your opponent (especially in Sparking! Meteor).

However, I can easily see why Budokai 3 would be the #1 game in the Top 5 list. It is a pretty fun game and so is Super DBZ. I also hope to see a similar game for the next gen consoles. My only complaint with Super DBZ is the controls, especially how they reverse the way techniques are entered depending on which side of the screen you are on. *sigh*

Thanks for reading my email guys!
Yi Xing Long wrote:This is also a part of the series that is not completely centered around Goku, since a lot of the other characters play major roles. No one was relying on Goku to save the day until the final showdown when all else failed. Even with that being the case, Goku could have never defeated Buu without the help of Vegeta, Mr Satan, the Namekians, the Kaioshin, Dende, Porunga, and everyone else on Earth. One thing that always irked me about the cell games is that everyone just stood around and watched the fight. This is not true with the Buu arc since everyone is always doing something and no one just sits around.
This is one reason why it really bothers me when people complain about Goku being the hero again in the Buu saga. Goku didn't beat Buu on his own like he did with say Piccolo Daimao or Freeza. EVERYONE had a hand in Buu's defeat.

Two more things and I'll move on...

1.) Thanks for all the kind words about my arm! My last tattoo project is now complete (the sleeve was second to last) and I'll get some pics up after it heals. You guys are probably familiar with picture - Goku in jeans and a white t-shirt with Gohan sitting on his shoulders, giving a peace sign? Yeah... thats on my non-sleeved wrist. Once it heals, pics will go up.

2.) Since the new games were such a big part of this week's podcast (and since I'm almost finished writing IGN's DB: Origins FAQ), I thought I'd put this out there.

A LOT of accounts on these boards, even by VegittoEX himself, have stated that they put the game down after one or two deaths. The game isn't perfect and people get busy, so I understand. -BUT- I URGE you (repeat URGE) guys to play through at least the end of Chapter 4-4, where you learn the Kamehameha Wave.

I've been a DB and DBZ fan for a lot of years. I'm also a pretty big video game person and have been since forever (I still can't believe I've been playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out regularly for 20 years now). I'd wager a guess that I've played most, if not all, of the console-based DB and DBZ games, American or otherwise, for at least a minute or two.
...and I say this with no hesitation: DB: Origins has THE HANDS-DOWN BEST Kamehameha Wave in any DB, DBZ, or DBGT game ever. The method for using it is simply amazing and it is something you NEED to try out for yourself. Love or hate Origins, you really, REALLY need to get through to 4-4 to experience this for yourself.

Oh, and since I forgot to update my sig, my Fable 2 guide is currently up at IGN.

This was actually the first podcast I've ever listened to. I never downloaded any before 'cause I had a much slower connection than now, and a bandwidth limit.

I was mostly interested in the video game stuff, but the whole thing was pretty cool. I've been playing through Infinite World too, and it can be frustrating at times. The AI can be so inconsistent. I can crush one guy on one difficulty, then get slaughtered by another guy on the SAME difficulty.

It's also inconsistent and inaccurate to the point where some Very Easy-Normal opponents are more difficult than Z opponents, at least in my experience. I think the unlockable Fighter's Road mode is easier than Dragon Mission overall, but the AI is still inconsistent there.

My favourite DragonBall games:
1. Tenkaichi 3
2. Super DBZ
3. Advance Adventure
4. Budokai 3 or Infinite World (undecided)
5. ...I don't really feel strongly enough about any other games I've played to say they're one of my favourites. I did like Legacy of Goku II, Buu's Fury, and Super Sonic Warriors though.

It was a cool podcast. I'm suprised that you didn't mention the absense of the tornament mode in Dragonball Infinate World.

I like the Buu saga, but I like every saga of Dragonball. It had it's ups and downs like every saga.Vegeto was cool and so were the other fusion. I didn't really like Gohan in the saga, but he wasn't a bad character.

I used to have that Dragonball Z EXTREME book with all of the stickers included, but sold it to Half Price Books. The good that came out of it was the Piccolo keychain it included.

Budokai 3 was a nice game. The graphics were good and the fighting was great. The transformations were fun. Was I the only one who went back to fight Freeza in SSJ4 :D . Legacy of Goku 2 was a great DBZ game. I just went back to replay it recently.
"Goku's power level is 20,567 and doubles when he turns SSJ. Vegeta's power level is 18,890 and also doubles when he turns SSJ. What is the difference of their power level if they both fight in their SSJ forms?"

Dragonball makes math fun!
