So, theres more dragonball games coming... be we knew this.
So, theres more dragonball games coming... be we knew this.
just saw this, thought I'd post it.
"A double dose of Dragon Ball came into North American stores earlier this month. Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World is the final DBZ game for the PlayStation 2 and it is more like the PS3/Xbox 360 Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit than any of the games from the PS2’s recent Tenkaichi series. “This title was developed by Dimps whereas the Tenkaichi style was developed by Spike so they are different companies,” Donny Clay, Producer at Atari, clarifies. “Infinite World was slated to be the best of the Budokai series of games put together in one final PS2 game.”
In between exchanges of energy blasts Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World has Dragon Missions which are essentially mini-games based on the anime series. “I always get a kick out of chasing Bubbles around and slipping on bananas. As a bonus it is even funnier to watch someone who has never done it before. You really get some funny reactions out of people,” said Clay.
Dragon Ball: Origins for the DS is a completely different kind of Dragon Ball game. The focus isn’t charging up energy and pummeling an opponent into the ground. Dragon Ball: Origins puts players in control of young Goku and covers his adventure collecting the Dragon Balls with Bulma in a Phantom Hourglass-like adventure game.
Atari just finished working on both of these games, but the publisher has more in store for Dragon Ball fans. Since the PS2 won’t be getting any more Dragon Ball games I asked Clay if they were working on a sequel to Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit. Clay told us, “I can’t tell you yet but I will say we are already working on a couple new games for fans.” It’s not really shocking news to hear Atari is working on another Dragon Ball Z game, but hearing about a couple of games piqued my interest.
Will one of them be a Wii port of Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World? “At this time there are no plans in the works to bring Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World to the Wii,” Clay explained.
What about a follow up to Dragon Ball: Origins? That seems reasonable if… well I better not say anymore! Clay optimistically claimed, “That is definitely a possibility as there is plenty more story to tell!”"

Sounds pretty coo'. I'm hoping for a BL (hehe) sequel. I think they could do a lot more with it, like improve the drama pieces and lengthen and deepen the story mode.
Haven't played Origins yet (be kind, Santa!), but it looks great, and I'd love to play through the Red Ribbon arc in the sama style. Lots of potential for adventuring there.

That Donny Clay, he's such hard worker!
I can't wait to see what amazing DBZ games he dishes out next!
And Tori-Bot...R.I.P Kakashi. However, I'm not ready to believe Kishimoto would let him die like this...especially when Konohamaru is still roaming the streets.

If Kakashi IS dead...then that makes the story after very interesting.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
I tend to ignore Donny Clay; he's just a PR guy, isn't he?Raki wrote:I only believe released dates...not Donny Clay.Big Momma wrote:That Donny Clay, he's such hard worker!![]()

I've completely stopped following all loud-ninja related news starting a couple weeks ago, but WOW. He's dead huh? I mean, I didn't hate Kakashi or anything, but I'd rather it have been Gary Stu who bit the big one rather than the teacher.
On hiatus.

I agree, a next-gen(non-Wii) Tenkaichi would be awesome. Don't get me wrong, the only next-gen I have is a Wii, but the PS3 or 360 would be better for a Tenkaichi game, with all the content that's in them.Innagadadavida wrote:I'm crossing my fingers for a next-gen Budokai Tenkaichi (Sparking) game.
Or at least something with similar gameplay. I love over the shoulder fighters and this series is one of the best.
The Tenkaichi games aren't that bad to me, it's just the lack of individuality after the first 40 or so characters. If they could mix it up a bit, but in some BL quality cutscenes, add some special game modes, then we'd have something special.

I agree. But if Kakashi goes away without us being able to see his face...I will be very upset with a certain manga-ka

The only current gen console I have is a Wii. But I hope beyond hope that if there is going to be a BT4 that it's for 360. I WILL go out and buy a 360 if it is. There are plenty of other games for the new Xbox that I want but BT4 would be the deal breaker.
They just can't just add new characters and stages. Some DRASTIC gameplay changes need to take place in order to keep the series alive.

I really don't want a Tenkaichi 4 for PS3 or 360. Why? Just look at all anime next gen sequels. They use the new graphics as an excuse to remove a good number of old characters and restart the series.
Even if the characters get more individuality, I don't think a sequel with a significantly smaller cast the Tenkaichi 3's would be very appealing. Just improve the gameplay system and background graphics, there's no need for a completely renewal of the game's visuals.
The Wii has significantly more RAM than the PS2, a Wii-exclusive Tenkaichi could easily have more detailed backgrounds even if the characters stayed mostly the same.

I really hope a RPG is one of those games under development. I'm tired of the same recycled fighting games.

This would be a good idea. I don't like the whole "DS gets 4 DB/Z Games, PSP gets 2" idea.finnishjuoppo wrote:or shin budokai 3?sangofe wrote:I guess it's only logical that the games in question are Burst limit 2 and Origins 2.

Those are OTHER GAMES. I doubt the same thing would happen if it's a sequel. I see no negative repercussions from moving forward. There is no reason to cut the roster down, but there is plenty of reason for bigger stages, more particle effects, better graphics, and more detailed visuals. The Wii, as much as it pains me to say it, is not the best platform for the next Tenkaichi game.Neon Z wrote:I really don't want a Tenkaichi 4 for PS3 or 360. Why? What I mean to say is, the Wii would be a step forward from the PS2 version, but not a very big one. 360 can provide resources to breathe new life into this series. I certainly don't want DBZ games to be branded any worse than they already are as just the same game rehashed with more characters and stages.

I can see a PSP version of this game being a nice way to burn time.
