If they made more specials: When would they take place?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Vegeta works the hardest and makes the most changes throughout the series and what does he get at the end? Nothing in comparison to the two idiots if that is not the quintessential example of inequitable treatment I do not know what is.
Goku, I don't mind, because we see that he works his freakin' ass off for every scrap of power he has.

Gohan, though, can go fuck himself. The bitch gets handed everything on a silver platter and he still fucks it up, like when he failed to get angry, the entire gimmick of his character, in the early Buu saga, and then he still gets picked up gently, gets his bum wiped with a hot towel and is given a nice glass of milk, some cookies, and a literal fucking deus ex machina to put him on top.

In fact I am, please do not get me started talking about the “Toei Punch”. :)
Well, I'm just saying that your a fan of the character that works the least for his power, that's all.

Gozar wrote:And Vegeta's not a selfish ass?
Yes, he was but Vegeta's selfishness was obvious to all at one point but as we saw at the end of the Buu Saga, the special and Dragonball GT all that has changed whereas Kakarrot remained the same.
Waaaaa!! Kakarotto can turn into a super awesome form and I can't!!!! Honey, can you make me a machine that will help me transform?

Horrors. Goku wants to finish off the enemy. Their both Saiyans. They want to fight. What do you expect?
A little self-control like Vegeta demonstrated. In the old days he would have blown crap up out of anger and started a third fight over Kakarrot tricking him and taking out Abo and Cado. Your hero gets to defeat every major villain, if not him king lazy (Son Gohan). Can Vegeta get a moment to shine after all it involved his family. Like somewhere else mentioned in either this thread or another. The writers attempted to put Kakarrot in scenes that he did not have any business showing up.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

For a third time. Main character. It's his job to save the day and Vegeta's to always be one step behind.

Now this I will agree with you on. I kinda would've liked to see some kind of Table/Vegeta/Trunks combined attack ala the Son family Kamehameha as the big finisher.

But I also know that the Japanese fans, who are extremely obsessed with Goku, wanted to see him end the fight. Don't forget that it's been over ten years with nothing new like this over there. If they start doing a Lupin style thing and release annual or bi-annual specials, then hopefully Vegeta will get his well-deserved moment to shine.

It's obvious from many of your posts I've read, though I can understand why (especially after seeing the way he intentionally hogs everyone's spot in the special).

Dude you are my new best friend.

The Broli character was meant to be the Dragonball version of the Hulk. He was meant to run around smashing stuff so he gets a free pass. Now if he was in the main continuity storyline and he received the Son Gohan treatment, which would push Vegeta further down in the power rankings, I would be just as angry.
Waaaaa!! Kakarotto can turn into a super awesome form and I can't!!!! Honey, can you make me a machine that will help me transform?
For those who have watched Dragonball GT and actually like it, they will remember that Vegeta wanted the power to defeat the Evil Dragons/Yi Xing Long. Originally, he was going to assist the brain-damaged hero with just Super Saiyan 2. Bulma stopped him and said that she could get him more power. In an earlier episode, Vegeta said that he was earth’s defender before your friend screwed that up. His attaining Super Saiyan 4 was not out of selfishness.

I second that, and Rocketman's comment!

How about a petition to Toriyama and Toei for such a moment? 8)

I wish but the American and Japanese members of the “Idiot Duo” fan club would not stand for it.

If one were to make statistics on DBZ fan from around the world - I'm plenty sure the numbers of Vegeta fanbase amongst them, would surpass that of the "Idiot Duo". 8)

I think Kakkarot is actually one of the most hated and disliked main characters of any series, for all the reasons you mentioned.

While I've seen a lot of Vegeta-bashing on the net over the years - at the same time I've seen a lot more Kakkarot and Gohan hating and bashing. Though mostly from Vegeta groupies..

Think it's pretty much fact that Vegeta's the most popular outside Japan, with Piccolo not too far behind.

I don't see what the big deal is about Goku saving the day. He is the main character of the show... it's been about him since day 1. Besides, it's Vegeta's fault for falling for his trick. haha.

Does it really matter who punched Abo and Cado? It didn't kill them. Besides, Vegeta got the upper hand before when he knocked Goku out to go and kill Buu. But that didn't work. And it's not like Goku always does everything himself... without Hercule (Mr. Satan) 's help then he wouldn't have been able to defeat Buu. Without Vegeta's idea and help, he wouldn't have defeated him.

Without Yajirobe cutting off Vegeta's tail he wouldn't have saved the day... without Gohan Cell would have won...

Goku doesn't always win. He usually just plays the biggest part. In this instance, it was all in fun because there was no real threat.... the two "dads" just competed to see who could finish this guy off before he became a real problem.

Vegeta gets the upper hand through his son, who is slightly stronger than Goten.

And personally Goku, Gohan and Vegeta are all my favorite characters. Without one or the other they are not as interesting alone. People fail to realize the importance of ALL the characters in this series.

GT failed to realize that, that's for sure.

I can get behind that, Zenkai.

I'm seeing a surprising amount of character hate in this thread. It seems a bit odd to me.

Though I will admit, I didn't think it was right to have Goku finish the fight, but the way he stole the moment from Vegeta was so hilariously cheeky, that it was hard to hate the scene for it. (I actually laughed and said out loud "Goku is such an asshole.")

I guess I just didn't realise that so many people held resentment towards the character.

Wouldn't it be so cool if a new series was made? I know this sounds like something coming from a newbie but hear me a second.

The start of the first epsiode could have a super quick flashback of what happened in GT, and then the screen turns into a cloud, someone (I don't give a fuck who) awakens and the narrator speaks: what an awful dream! Now lets continue with DBZ!

Ok, I know, it sounds like madness. The fact that these two insignificant enemies show up just let's us see that another series would be (sorry to say) repetitive, unless Toriyama put full attention into it...Blame the new special for getting me hyped up.

I justalso want to say that hearing the original BGM got me pumped up for a whole new saga!

Ok, seriously though, DB is over, we only have specials to rely on, but I'm ok with that. This was purely for the fans.

I really think a new series would be "too much" for some reason, that it would stop being fresh. I'd probably be more excited by an annual 30 minute-1 hour specials than a new series, probably.

Besides, a new series would have to stay continuous with itself. Specials can be set anywhere and everywhere in the timeline. At this point, I don't need a continuous series, but I would like some filling in and backstory bits here and there like the TV specials. And then fun stuff like this.

I'd like to see the series reanimated but this time without all the filler.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

After 13 movies and GT, I just want to shove him out of the limelight. I don't even like Gotenks, but I would've preferred that he win instead of Goku once again getting the final blow.

I tend to want Vegeta to do stuff mostly because he always gets screwed over.

I hope Toei would get the okay to do a new series focusing on Vegeta Jr. and Goku Jr. where the roles are reversed and Vegeta Jr. gets the spotlight and all the breaks.
