VHS Eastereggs?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

VHS Eastereggs?

Post by Izlude » Tue Sep 21, 2004 5:48 pm

This is pretty unusual... but, I noticed in some of the early Season 3 VHS tapes, Captain Ginyu:Double Cross in particular, after all the episodes have ran, the original Head Chala opening would play, no subs or anything, just exactly like it normally does! I remember this really freaking me out waaaaaaaay back in the day cuz I just did not expect the original op to pop out at the end of the tape, and today I was going through old VHS tapes when I came across the Ginyu tapes and remembered it.

The Head Chala opening that played was the 1st version I think, but I'm curious to know if any of the other variations or if the 2nd opening ever appeared on the VHS tapes after all the episodes have played. Also note, I have only seen this on the uncut tapes.

Anyone else here ever aware of this? Or is this some bizzaro tape I bought from SunCoast that must be burned?

Something tells me you dwell too much in nostalgia... :D

Indeed, the first three movies on VHS had the Cha-La intro song intact. I dont know about the Ginyu ones, because I got those on DVD...

No, I ment that yes, they are at the end of the Ginyu video's but its the opening from the early movies, still a "Cha-La" opening, but its from the movies.

It's most likely to be the opening from the first movie, since that is the one used on the Japanese version of the Ginyu DVDs (the first discs FUNi ever did).

I could pretend to be all knowledgable and say that the horrendoud quality of the sound is what gives it away (it sounds like it was mixed in too loud, so it distorts terribly). But I'll just be honest and say that I remembered that from DBZ:Uncensored. It is really obvious though.
Romana: "I don't think we should interfere."
Doctor: "Interfere? Of course we should interfere! Always do what you're best at, that's what I say."
