I dunno. It was more of a slap to the face for those who watched the original series' via VHS fansubs and tried playing it off as their version was the real version.

I'd actually like to see it, whether it scars me or not.

For those who want to risk the emotional and mental scarring, here it isFUNimation's Dragonball GT rap in its entirity, this was an extra on Madman DBGT single #6 "Preparation", under the title of "Be a star competition".

I apologise about the letterboxing, I was using a different program to rip it than I'm used to (my dvd drive is out of comission, so I'm on a laptop) anyway for whatever reason it decided it needed to be letterboxed.

Jeez, that is terrible. I remember hearing the full length version years ago, and man. This feels like a bad karoake attempt.

And I will be picking up this box set. It seems right now the only issues are the logo. Which compared to the first DBZ box set is a MAJOR improvement.
We should all be thanking FUNi for that.

If I remember correctly, this version was done by a contest winner. FUNi originally had some contest before GT aired to get someone to sing the Grand Tour rap and I believe whoever won got their video put into a DVD release. :? They supplied lyrics and an instrumental MP3 on the site.

The production values made me wonder how much FUNi payed him to make the rap, but if it's not the artist then it suddenly makes sense.

Now this is interesting.

Go to Fan Stuff and you'll find videos from 2003. FUNi spun the hell out of GT to make it more than what it really is. Barry Watson even talks about how they "redid the music and sound effects" to make it more like DBZ.

Wait, what?

That makes sense to me, I knew it was part of a contest, but wasn't sure if the "performers" were the original artists or not.

I remember that.

I made a rap about how GT and rap don't go together unless Curtis Jackson is a closet DragonBall fan...

I had almost as much faith in that as I did with my chances of winning that contest.

That live action fight between 17 and 'ambiguous gi wearing character, probably Goku?' is..... terrifying.

I love how they half pretend they created the series, but also go out of their way to say they're making it "better".

Given GT's quality, don't you mean "Coffee stain on a four-year-old's crayon scribbles"?

That's Funimation all the time.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Captain Awesome wrote:Though it doesn't have much bearing on this discussion, Madman are putting out the "lost episodes" in five disc fat-packs and are following suit with the rest of the series, they are retailing for $50 bucks, which makes them cheaper than the Z season sets, though with less episodes.

Interesting, I wonder if Madman is trying to get rid of old stock, or maybe they aren't going to bother with the GT season sets.
Are Madman replacing all Box Sets with Fatpacks? Because they seem to be clearing out all stock. I see that all new releases are fatpacks, and they are releasing a lot of older sets like that (like Yu Yu Hakusho), and I just wonder if you knew whether they were doing that with all stock?

I'd really rather they didn't. I don't like fatpacks.
