DB Episodes 1-13. 2010. Gonna buy them?

Post by RoarkVegeta » Sat Dec 06, 2008 6:58 pm

Since *supposedly* the sub-license to DB episodes 1-13 from Funimation and Lionsgate Films expires in 2010, are you going the buy the releases? I may, because I like the dub of Dragonball from 2001, so I MAY buy it since I'm not interested in "The Saga of Goku".

I'll wait for the faux remastered boxsets.

Same. Season One would have the "Pilaf" saga and the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai.

I own the madman set, but I guess if they made some kind of relevant change I might re-purchase it.

Definately going to purchase the DB season sets when they come out. Whenever that may be. Hopefully, FUNi doesn't crop those sets when they come out.

They most likely will crop them, otherwise their would be no need to re-releace them since they originally keep the Japanese BGM.

So you're best off keeping the original boxsets unless you want to experience it the way it was meant to be seen in widescreen in 2010.

I suppose I'll probably buy them, if only to have all the orange/green/whatever colour they use for DB bricks neatly lined up on the shelf.

They better be fullscreen though, otherwise I'm off to Madman. :P

But they're not the bricks.

The freakin' bricks, man!

Except there's that tiny problem with the original releases being completely out-of-print and harder to find than a "vaulted" Disney DVD, which a season set release would no doubt remedy.

There doesn't have to be a new audio option for FUNi to release the series again, y'know.

They're not that hard to find online.

But they're expensive as all hell. Go look at user prices on Amazon. I dare you. 8)

As for me, I'd rather track down the remaining sets I need (which are only the Tournament, Red Ribbon Army, and General Blue sets). I'll probably import the Madman version of the first 13 episodes. I would like a translated movie 1, though.

And I really wish this 2010 rumor would die. It's getting annoying and out of hand.

I can't wait for Funimation to release Dragon Ball season sets so that their other release goes down in price enough for me to buy them.

Yes, I would like to own Dragonball in it's entirety and launch my bootlegs of the first few episodes into the sun.

This thread is entirely pointless.

FUNimation is not getting the rights back in 2010. Somebody lied about it on wikipedia, and the fact that so many of you believed it just astounds me.

If FUNi really were getting the rights back in 2010, don't you think we would have gotten an official announcement by now? We knew many years in advance that Pioneer were losing the rights to DBZ seasons 1 and 2 in August 2003; why should this case by any different?

It's because Lionsgate owns the rights for the foreseeable future. Don't get your hopes up, folks. You'll only end up being disappointed.

I think just about everyone here is completely aware that it's just an unsubstantiated rumor. The thread is mostly speculation, and there's nothing wrong with that.
