Spain gets NEW DVD box sets!
I totally forgot to post this up, but Spain is getting new DVD box sets called "Dragon Boxes". The first was released October 22, box 2 will be released December 10.
The first is the Saiyan Saga box. It will include the first 40 episodes on 10 DVDs. They will be in 5 2-disc thin pack cases inside a glossy box. It has the extras from the singles including the five language tracks: Japanese, Castilian Spanish, Catalan, Galician, and Basque as well as REVISED Spanish subtitles more faithful to the Japanese version than the singles were. The video for these, as mentioned many times before, is from the Japanese releases with slight alterations.

Box 2 includes episodes 41-80:

I told my aunt to send me box 1 for Christmas. I'll give my thoughts on it if and when I get it.

It's not the same footage as Japanese DragonBox has. They remastered by theirselves.Kendamu wrote:So, what you're saying is that Spain go the Dragonbox footage and put it in their own boxsets. Before shipping, this means that I'd be getting 40 episodes of DBZ for around $80 USD.
That's not bad at all!
I need a region free DVD player! Now!
But.. I gues it's not bad at all, better than Seasonbox Sets, and good for dub collectors.
It includes 5 audio tracks. You can collect most of dubs in Spain except for Valencian dub.
Edit: I've got some screenshots

Even so, I've seen a few screens of Spain's remastering and it looks good!kei17 wrote:It's not the same footage as Japanese DragonBox has. However, I seem to remember hearing somewhere that Spain got the rights to use the Dragonbox footage.
Hm...

Is it just me, or do they look a little blurry?
That said, I'm looking to fill the gap between my UUEs and my Namek singles with some kind of official 4:3 release, the Dragonbox singles are a little expensive given the state of the Australian dollar, so something like this might actually be an option for me.

Are these just "box-set" collections of the singles (well, two-packs) that have already been seeing a release for a while now? It would appear to be.

This is the common belief, however, if I'm to believe the French company working at the French boxes that will be released next year, Dragonbox is not the footage they used, but sources from AB. But this has seemed to go beyond most people...SonGokuGT wrote:The video for these, as mentioned many times before, is from the Japanese releases with slight alterations

The colours in those sets look absolutelly horrible, but a step ahead of funimations remastering process if you can forgive the bluring.SonGokuGT wrote:I told my aunt to send me box 1 for Christmas. I'll give my thoughts on it if and when I get it.
If I recall someone posted that those sets have bleeded out colours which do you eyes in, but are safe to watch off a computer screen... and never advised to see it off a DVD player since the colours apparently look far too bright that words can't describe how Spanish viewers can stomach watching it like that.
Maybe they have better vision than us, eitherway I'll be looking forward to your review and see if you can last seeing them off a DVD player without getting sore eyes x3

Yes, but with revised Spanish subtitles.VegettoEX wrote:Are these just "box-set" collections of the singles (well, two-packs) that have already been seeing a release for a while now? It would appear to be.
Also, here's this comparison:

That isn't nearly as dramatically different in color as FUNimation's is compared to the Japanese Dragonbox.SonGokuGT wrote:Yes, but with revised Spanish subtitles.VegettoEX wrote:Are these just "box-set" collections of the singles (well, two-packs) that have already been seeing a release for a while now? Personally speaking, I like it!
So, is there some type of schedule as to how often these will be coming out?
I'm guessing every two months by the gap between boxes 1 and 2.Kendamu wrote: So, is there some type of schedule as to how often these will be coming out?
I must say, I have the singles for the Trunks episodes and they look outstanding in my opinion. Not to mention the Japanese track sounds amazing. The Spanish one is good but does show its age. I haven't listened to the other tracks extensively so I can't formulate an opinion.

I might get these, and then take the video along side the English 5.0 track and make myself some custom Season One and Two discs...

SonGokuGT, seems you have the original sets, yes? Is there an issue of the PAL pitch, or have these been speed-corrected? Because that might cause trouble for those wanting to do their own sub track; that, and the music sounds HORRIBLE sped up.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I played the one single I own at the moment on three computers and a region-free DVD player and I didn't notice any issues. Although I'm not sure that I fully understand the question about the "PAL pitch", are you talking about A/V synchronization?bkev wrote:SonGokuGT, seems you have the original sets, yes? Does anybody know if these will have some sort of english subs? I should be going out to Spain next year to laze on the beach and catch some waves... Could pop into some stores in the local town.
