I am silly, I will go to see the movie good or bad. Half of the movies I love are considered bad movies. Either way I will go see it just to support DragonBall. Who knows what might happen if this is a hit... maybe a new anime or manga who knows?

This movie looks like it's going to be awesome! I'm glad that they changed some plot points around. It makes the movie different from the manga. Who knows where the 7 mystics backstory will go, but that works for this. After all, this is a completely different universe from the manga we all know and love, and the last thing we need is ANOTHER line-by-line retelling of the manga.

Piccolo is badass and as cool as the explosion scene was, I just like that they put him on that airship. It just makes me feel like someone was actually reading Volumes 12-13 of the manga. I also like the slow motion scenes. Remember they do that in the anime as well. I guess it depends on how they do it, and whether or not they do it to death. I'm so happy to see a capsule bike. People go on and on about how there's nothing from the original Dragon Ball in this movie, but every time I see a new picture or trailer, I see more and more things that scream "Dragon Ball" all over the place.

The only downer was Chatwin's portrayal of Goku. I don't mind the "I'm not ready for this" line, but his reaction to Bulma's bike made me cringe. But then again, let's not forget that picture of Goku sitting on the bike stuffing a giant turkey leg in his mouth. No one here has seen the full movie so who knows how he'll do as Son Goku? Oh, and FINALLY we get to hear him do the Kamehameha Wave!

This movie also looks like it's going to be a combination of the Pilaf and Piccolo Sagas, which would explain the lack of a Krillin (after all, the movie is supposed to be starring Goku, Bulma, and Yamcha, just like the Pilaf Saga. The only characters missing from the quest are Oolong and Puar)

So now I am DEFINITELY looking forward to this movie! It looks like it could really turn into something good.

I don't think "the dub did it too" is going to win you any arguments here. I don't care enough to take part in any of those debates, but you can't even write the dub names here, take that as you will...

More to the point, it's all about to what extent an individual can tolerate enough to enjoy. Chatku just isn't working for some of us.
My point with that isn't that "since the dub did it it's okay" because I'm not really a fan of Gokuu's dub portrayal anyway. My feelings on the matter are that a different portrayal of the character doesn't take anything away from the original. Sean Schemmel's voice acting doesn't make Masako Nozawa any less amazing.

It's a different Gokuu for a different Dragon Ball story, and that's fine with me. To each their own, I suppose.
This "different Goku" thing is silly and I see Transofrmers fans using that excuse when their favourite characters are mangled. Really, they should just make it a different character then.

Or people could just be a bit more open minded and realize it's a live action movie and not the Anime/Manga.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

It's because the name "Goku" would sell more tickets than "Bob" would. :(

Seriously, angsty, boring, lifeless "movie!Goku" is a major aspect that's keeping me from giving this movie any chance at all.

I am going to stick with how I felt when I was feeling more optimistic and not have any worries about the movie. No mannter how much of my hair I pull out or how much I yell at Jappo, it won't change anything. Let's let the movie happen and not let anything get us up into riot mode or fandom defense mode. Let's try to keep our collective cool heads and not go to either extreme of fandom thingy stuff.

God there is so many wrongs from seeing that trailer.

1. Goku saying, "I'm not ready!?" :x

2. Mai being one of Piccolo's henchmen. Really? So they couldn't have CGI demons and monsters to fight Goku? Aghh!!!!

3. Chi-Chi can fight? A big no! no!

4. A one handed KameHame-Ha!?

5. Piccolo's green or is he not?

6. Bulma...........meh!

7. DragonBall Evolution? Evolution!? So now we could call this DBE?

This movie smells of stank!!! I'll probably be watching it by not paying a single dime to do so.

Uh, Pilaf, Mai, and Shu all were Piccolo's henchmen in the series. They just kept the one that was actually human and made her kick some ass.
3. Chi-Chi can fight? A big no! no!

Do you mean Bulma?
4. A one handed KameHame-Ha!?
SSj Kaboom wrote:I sincerely doubt that shot WAS the Kamehameha. The one Goku was charging up there was shaping up to be huge. The one they showed him firing was a smaller, simple, one-handed shot, and I'm pretty sure the background was different, too.
5. Piccolo's green or is he not?
He's very green. :)
7. DragonBall Evolution? Evolution!? So now we could call this DBE?
I don't see what the problem is, so long as it pertains to the plot.

For a live-action movie, it looks unimpressive. Its trailer is forgettable and as generic as shit. I'm not expecting the anime, but I'm definitely not expecting a good movie.

If I ignore the little things, the only two over-reaching things that irritate me about this movie are:

-Goku so far out of character he's orbiting Neptune. (".......cool...." Seriously?! What are you Chatwin, a zombie!?)
-Even thought it wasn't in the trailer, HIGH SCHOOL.

I'm having mixed feelings about this movie. But I will retain my judgment until I go to see it.

Piccolo looks sweet though, I must admit.

This made me remember something that seems to have disappeared over the months...

I have one other major problem with this. I've been really disappointed in the 'meh' design decisions. I thought they'd at least put a little bit of effort into making their "City of the Future" but there isn't anything impressive or imaginative about the setting shown.
Maybe seeing things like the Shire and Diagon Alley brought to life have spoiled me, but the lack of effort put into making this movie look like the "Dragon World" is so disappointing...

I hate how this movie is not going to mention that it was Master Roshi who sealed Piccolo Daimao (is this how you spell it?) in the first place and has been freed to take over the world. Also, no mention of Kami (God), Shenlong (or Shenron) and where the hell is Yamcha in all this? So I guess he's going to only have a 10 minute appearance and boom that's it?

Like I said, there is so many wrongs to this movie.

He... didn't. It was Mutaito, who's portrayed by Ernie Hudson in the movie.

Kami's gone. Shenron is slated to appear, voiced by Chris Sabat, and Yamcha is there, despite being downplayed recently. He's potrayed by Joon Park, and makes a very fleeting appearance huddled behind Roshi in the new trailer.

Roshi didnt seal piccolo, his master did. That plot point is kept in this film actually, if I recall properly. lol someone got too it first.... Hell remember Kami was not even mentioned until Piccolo was defeated, in the show.

Oh your right. My bad. It's been a while since I've watched DragonBall and I forgot who was the one who sealed Piccolo. :P

I'm just hoping there's no sequel at this point.

I have this horrible fear that they're going to make Vegeta female in the sequel. It could probably be the only thing I can think of that would be worse than "Joe ...........cool..........." Chatwin.

I don't know why; probably because Tenshinhan, Kuririn, Chaoutzu, and Yajirobe are all missing from this movie and Oolong and Puar's powers were given to Mai.

It's looking similar to how Street Fighter was, as an adaptation with the characters, though a bit enjoyable if you don't get too purist, without the franchise' makers giving brief orders and getting their money's worth laughing. (And Raul Julia was a great actor).

I am really looking forward to this movie. I am honestly glad it's not like the manga/anime. Maybe I will like the movie Goku, because I can't stand him in the anime.

That means everything must be different? Alternate plot elements are a good thing. Characters acting unlike themselves is a no-no.

It's my worst nightmare. Pro-Live Action movie people coming out of the woodwork, joining forums, and saying what they don't like about the Manga/Anime.

Anyway, on the subject of the Trailer...I've been getting PM's on YouTube of people saying that I was wrong about the LA Movie because the Trailer looked cool...Am I 4 friggin years old? Am I supposed to be bought off by explosions?
