Didn't you ever watch the 23rd Budokai from original DragonBall? Chichi made it through the prelims, something most fighters training for the Budokai work their whole lives just to make it through. And she was only 18 or 19 years old, I'd say that says a lot for her.

-Goku so far out of character he's orbiting Neptune. (".......cool...." Seriously?! What are you Chatwin, a zombie!?)
-Even thought it wasn't in the trailer, HIGH SCHOOL.
Once more, agreeing with ya' on all them counts, Chu. What is it with us and this live-action movie, does our love for Goku blind us or open our eyes to this movie's "potential"? ^^;

With ya' there too.

Noticed it at the bottom of the page on the salon.
Thanks :D

There's a problem. There's limits to what different approaches can be before you have a completely different product. If the characters don't act like themselves then all you have is a general concept (7 Magic Wish Granting Balls) and names.

From what I've seen it seems obvious that Fox doesn't care about what this Franchise is. They just want to create a stereotypical American Action Movie and cash in on the DragonBall name.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. This may be a great movie, but that doesn't mean it'll be a great DragonBall Movie.

I honestly think it's a limit that people set for themselves. To me this is like the many different versions of the Marvel and DC universes.

I do agree that Fox doesn't care, and are only in it for the money.

I disagree. A character is his personality. Not just a name.

3. Chi-Chi can fight? A big no! no!
What. Chichi was ridiculously strong for most of DB and entered the tournament.

That's true. He may not even say "Cool" in that part of the movie. The scene may even be completely different in the final version. Trailers can be very deceiving like the Bridge to Terabithia trailer.

Goku's reaction to Bulma's bike changing being a simple, apathetic "cool" honestly made me slam my palms into my head.

As did the idea of the Dragon Balls being created by "seven mystics" to stop Piccolo. Seriously, what the hell?

Mystics is actually from the anime filler.

The dub of that episode said they found the one, giant dragonball in the forest and then erected a shrine to it.
Then thieves came, tried to steal the ball, got electrocuted by it, and then the villagers (or someone) split the ball into 7 and sent each to the ends of the Earth.

How spot-on is the script in Funi's dub during the RR arc?

Actually. they said the giant ball was a gift from the gods. Once the gods saw the greediness caused by the ball, it was split into seven (which really didn't solve the problem).

The filler had an explanation for the Dragon Balls long before Daimao was introduced.

Allow me to also bring this up. They're bringing up elements from Z (Piccolo and Goku being aliens), yet missed the fact that the Dragon Balls CAN'T be used to do away with people stronger than the creator. We witnessed this when it came to Oolong trying to wish for Shenlong to kill the Saiyans. Even if it involved him being imprisoned, it still makes Mutaito's role virtually useless.

Roshi feeling only Goku could do it is a HUGE difference from the original Roshi who felt Goku would be killed if he went after Daimao.

Didn't Movie Roshi yell out "MA!" as he fired off the green blast, as in "Mafuba"? It even looked pretty much exactly like I'd expect it to.

Also, we really don't know what the Dragon Balls are being used FOR. We know that Movie Goku's dull and dreary "cool" in the trailer is pretty dumb, that "I'm not ready for this" is the usual action movie unlikley hero bit. But for all the whining, there isn't much about the actual OUTLINE of the story that we know.

So really, I'd reserve judgement on those parts until later. I mean, it could work or be terrible, but it's hard to say that until we know why the Dragon Balls are so important for Movie Goku.

I just realized this film re-introduces the whole chosen one ordeal. lollerskates. One of the charming aspects of Dragonball, is that it's main protagonist inadverdently became Earth's saviour. Twas' not fate bestowed upon him by the gods. Oh well. Too little too late. Atleast they didn't place Goku in high school. HA HA HA.

Wasn't green. It was a fireball-like blast with one hand.

Speaking of one hand, gotta love how the Kamehame-Ha was screwed up in the end. He charges it up right, but fires it off with an open palm. Not even with two hands.

While the story isn't being fleshed out in the trailer, all of the little details DO stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm tempted to edit a football under his left arm and a helmet ontop of his head; it totally looks like he's supposed to be running down the field.

I looked at the other posters too; the only one I thought was decent was "Bulma's". Chatwin's ate up too much space and everyone looks lifeless in the group shot.

Hell, that is one awkward looking pose. How in the world is that a fighting pose?

It is, and I do not know.
Like I said, it looks more like a frontal shot of a football player carrying the ball down the field.

At least its not as awkward as Chatwin-trapped-in-an-invisible-glass-box:
