Someone on that set needs to learn the difference between parachute pants and the bottom half of a dogi.
A. it accentuates that he is strong, and B. James Marsters is not a big guy, so they had to make him appear muscular.
Imagine this, would you prefer if it was just Scrawny James Marsters in a loose fitting Purple Gi, would that have been better? I think not.

I honestly believe that this movie turned out the way it did because it was rushed and there wasn't enough thought put into it. If it's lucky enough to get a sequel I bet you anything it'll be WAY better than this. It'll probably get a bigger budget, better writers, they'll take their time making it,and FOX will let them take more chances. That's the one of the reason I hope this movie does decent at the box office.TheMajinRedComet wrote:You have admit that some characters had to be cut, Dragonball's cast is amazing large, but who knows maybe we will get some cameos or Freeza foreshadowing.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Although I hope they keep James Wong, because changing directors sucks.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.
Fake muscles are fake. Very fake. I don't understand why such a guy would even wear armor. He wasn't particularly buff in the comic but his muscles didn't have to do the speaking.SSj Kaboom wrote:...So how 'bout that Piccolo image? Y' gonna post it here, Jappo, or just on your site?
EDIT: Oh, there we go.
Damn, nice picture. First good, clear image of Piccolo we've really gotten.

I think they actually HAVE to do that now, for safety reasons. Indy IV was gonna have a CG whip for similar reasons, only Harrison Ford - wise man that he is - threatened to back out if they did that.Kendamu wrote:They're supposed to have sticks.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
No offense meant towards you Chrono but I absolutely, positively hate this mentality that Hollywood has about potential movie franchises. Instead of focusing on making a good movie, they go,"Oh, we can fuck around in the first one and put more effort into the sequel." That sort of mentality is what killed quite a few franchises. (Fantastic Four being a prime example.)Chrono Trigger wrote:I honestly believe that this movie turned out the way it did because it was rushed and there wasn't enough thought put into it. 'Cause if you fuck up and the movie bombs, you're left with a rushed, botched movie that's using a non-existent sequel as a creative crutch. That's a sign of bad film-making.

You're absolutely right it is a sign of bad film-making and I really wish they would have taken their time with this movie and did it right because with a few changes here and there it really could have turned out A LOT better. This movie might do well and it could get a sequel and like I said I hope they get it right the second time. They should right? I mean Spidey 2 and X-men 2 were both better than their first movies.Brad Redfield wrote:No offense meant towards you Chrono but I absolutely, positively hate this mentality that Hollywood has about potential movie franchises. But the third sequel to both movies were total bullshit.Chrono Trigger wrote:You're absolutely right it is a sign of bad film-making and I really wish they would have taken their time with this movie and did it right because with a few changes here and there it really could have turned out A LOT better. More or less. I don't really get the whole fandom on this Super Sentai stuff. All I know is that they look like a bunch of japanese Power Rangers jumping around the place with a better plot.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:I don't mind having any Super Sentai similarities in a Dragon Ball movie. Power Rangers IS Japanese. Basically, all the fight scenes from Power Rangers are spliced in from Super Sentai shows in Japan, with the rest of the show being made by Saban, changing things like...the gender of the Yellow Ranger.Pain wrote:More or less. It depends. Yes it is an adaptation of sentai, but things are done differently often, depending on the season. For example, the characters of Goldar and Elgar were killed in PR, but their Japanese counterparts weren't. Another example, Timeranger's main villain was a rubber-suited mob boss who rocket farted, while in that series' counterpart, he was relgated to goofy sidekick and the main baddie was a semi-crazy badass who pulled weapons out of his body. Also interestingly enough, Toei makes Sentai.Chuquita wrote:But wasn't Power Rangers mostly Japanese anyway? I mean, from what I read on this board a while ago, the "plot" was made here, but the actual battle scenes were taken from imported sentai shows and the two were weaved/edited together to make it look like one show.
