INFO
Budokai Tenkaichi Source is a series of videos on YouTube that highlight some fan speculation, rumors, news, and anything else involved with the Sparking/Budokai Tenkaichi Series. They are featured on my Channel devoted exclusively to Dragon Ball Z, which also contains some of my AMVs. Tenkaichi Source is narrated and produced by me, Innagadadavida. The videos so far have been speculations about some of the features and gameplay elements to be in Budokai Tenkaichi 4. Most topics are broad enough to cover all DBZ games, specifically next gen DBZ games. My goal is to inform, entertain, and bask in the awesomeness that is DBZ gaming with my fellow fans.

HISTORY
The project started out as a follow-up of (and due the surprising success of) my first Budokai Tenkaichi 4 speculation video. Within a couple of months the video received over 10,000 hits, which was more than I ever expected. I had many more ideas and seeing as how so many people enjoyed the first one, I figured I'd try out a series about the same topic. There are no signs of slowing down either, I'm constantly getting new ideas and I'm looking forward to sharing them with the community.

VIDEOS
High Quality versions are availble for every video!
Episode One: All Stages Special
Image
[ Runtime: 4:25 | Surprise ending: YES! | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJzcxTZHt34 ]
This episode is all about stages. I go over some of the solutions to those pesky invisible walls. I also discuss the possibility of a stage creator and the expansion of the World Tournament Stage.

Episode Two: Minor Gameplay Tweaks
Image
[ Runtime: 3:27 | Surprise ending: No | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fwpVFa8bKY ]
Episode two is all about minor gameplay tweaks that would make Budokai Tenkaichi 4 closer to the show than any of it's predecessors. The topics talked about in the video include underwater combat, afterimaging, ground combat, quick time events, and tournaments.

Episode Three: Character Creator
Image
[ Runtime: 5:22 | Surprise ending: YES! | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rd_qt2TWTI0 ]
This installment focuses exclusively on the much anticipated and desired Character Creator. A mock-up with many fans' hopes, concerns, and ideas is contained in the video. I go over the mock-up step-by-step explaining each potential feature and why it's necessary. There's a thread on this forum to discuss the question in the end of the video, here.

Episode Four: Next Gen
Image
[ Runtime: 4:11 | Surprise ending: No | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3qXfbi8I28 ]
There's a vocal group of Tenkaichi fans that believe the series should stay on the PS2 and Wii. This episode goes over the possibilities of a Next Gen release and discusses the reasons that BT4 should be released on the XBox 360 and PS3.

Episode Five: More Gameplay Tweaks
Image
[ Runtime: 4:11 | Surprise ending: Yes! | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHAwDcex6F8 ]
The second installment of minor gameplay tweaks that were too small individually to have their own video. Here we cover the character select screen and it's many flaws, then we move on to camera control, and finally grabbing struggles.

Episode Six: All Moves Special
Image
[ Runtime: 4:01 | Surprise ending: No | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQTrNTGMFnA ]
After almost a two month break, I present, Episode Six. In this video, we cover all things moves. Everything from arranging and adjusting moves before a fight like Budokai, to a full-featured move creation tool. I'm trying out a new format and a different song in this one.

Wow I really love your ideas after only watching the first video. If they did indeed make a Tenkaichi 4 I could only pray they listen to you.

I wish a game would be created with Budokai Tenkaichi’s game play but with Dimp’s character models and attacks with the additions you mentioned thus far. Now that would be the ultimate Dragonball game.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

I like this video and the character creation one.
You're right Yamcha and Tenshinhan are too much of important characters to be represented by only one form.
They need their young forms to be seperate characters, and I'd love to play with Boy Yamcha as a normal character instead of a third outfit (complete with lack of scars), and I'd also make heaps of characters from other anime/manga and mine and my friend's OCs with character creation mode *gets hit by rocks*.

and not only that they need Chibi Kuririn too and Blonde Launch with guns. *gets hit with more rocks*
Wishes she can change her name to YamchaFan (her name everywhere else)
Obssessed with the Earthlings and the original DB anime

One of her Specials could be that she sneezes and turns good then yells for help at which point kid Goku and kid Krillin (maybe roshi) rush in and kick ass.

I agree gameplay-wise, but Dimp's character models?
I personally wouldn't like the latter.
When I look at the Tenkaichi models, they look WAY BETTER than the ones in Budokai - and now even Infinite World - look o_O

Just take for instance that IW Trailer with Goku and Majin Vegeta and then take the same fight from Tenkaichi 3.
If I take anything but the graphics in consideration, I really think that the Budokai style looks very old compared to Tenkaichi.

There is a new standard for Dragonball graphics y'know..It's called Burst Limit :).

Anyway, Sparking Meteor has better Cel shading, and the textures on the characters look to be a little higher resolution, but in terms of the character models, the Budokai series has a lot more detail in the facial area, as well as the models deforming better (a lot of the animations in the Sparking series are stiff and lifeless).

Anyway, despite not being a huge fan of the Sparking series, I enjoyed all of your videos, your ideas on the character creator especially.

Yeah, especially during Tenkaichi 3's story mode. The characters remain in the fighting stance while they talk and there's seconds of silence in between each characters lines. And Budokai's facial area does have more detail, but sometimes that makes the characters look less like their animated counterpart. For example, Mr. Satan looks really strange in Budokai 2. Very different than in the show.

Well since I am a big fan of American comic artists such as Jim Lee, Mark Silvestri and Whilce Portacio in addition to Toriyama’s Buu Saga stuff (Japanese), I lean towards the Budokai, Shin, Infinite Worlds and Burst Limit character models. They are a lot more solid in look and the artwork is consistent. The Tenkaichi character models are inconsistent in their style, which means that more than one artist designed them.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Your proposed character creator is genius. Obviously you put a lot of thought into this sort of thing, and those are the types of creative minds teams like Spike need to hire. Developers can have all the fancy CGI animation skills in the world, but if the team doesn't have any innovative ideas to change as they pump out sequel after sequel, fans are really just paying more money for a game they already own. I'd love to see the next Sparking! game use some of your ideas. :)

A funny story about this one. I actually recorded the voice over once through before the final edit, the problem was I didn't have the mic plugged in. I didn't realize that until I switched back to the recording window and saw that nothing had been recorded. I felt so stupid.

Again I agree with you on this video ^__^
We not only need a Kid Kuririn but we also need a Young Piccolo (under his Ma Junior guise), a Kid Piccolo and his Post Boy costume. :D

Been working on a few character ideas for a Sparking 4:

First, reorder how versions of the same character are done. For example, as opposed to 'early', 'mid' and 'end', use the something akin to this:

Son Gokû (DB1: previously known as Kid Goku)
Retain costumes and techniques as is plus suit from Kame-sen'nin.

Son Gokû (DB2: the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budôkai Son)
SP1: KameHame-Ha
SP2: Feet KameHame-Ha: a charge attack that ends with the enemy being knocked into the sky and Son rocketing off to crash his fists into them, powered by the KameHame-Ha from his feet.
Ultimate: Super KameHame-Ha: Just like the one he used again MaJunior.
Costumes: Full dôgi, dôgi without weights, wedding tux

Yamcha (DB1: Yamcha's first appearence bandit outfit)
SP1: Some sort of sword slashing attack
SP2: Wolf Fang Fist
Ultimate: A tricky one. Either a 'full power' or 'final' WFF or KameHame-Ha.
Costumes: Long and shot hair versions

Yamcha (Z)
SP1: His advanced WFF that was shown off in his battle with Tenshinhan.
SP2: KameHame-Ha
Ultimate: Sôkidan
Costumes: 22nd and 23rd Tenka'ichi outfits, his Artificial Humans arc look, and his Boo arc look

Piccolo Jr. (DB)
SP1: Mouth blast of some sort (isn't there one the Oozaru use?)
SP2: Daimaô's Ultimate (forget what it was called)
Ultimate: The blast he used to destroy Papaya Island!!
Costumes: Cape and turban, turban without cape
Transformations: Giant form (Specials TBD)

Tenshinhan (DB)
SP1: Volleyball thingy/Haikyû-ken
SP2: Dodonpa/Dodon Ray
Ultimate: Kikôhô
Costumes: formal wear, without shirt
Transformation: Four-Armed form (SP1: multi-Dodonpa; SP2: multi-punch attack; Ultimate: Two-scoped Kikôhô)

Tenshinhan (Z)
Same costumes and techniques plus yellow tank-top and Cell Games white tee.

Kuririn (DB1)
SP1: Shaolin physical attack of some sort.
SP2: Kame school physical attack of some sort.
Ultimate: KameHame-Ha
Monk outfit, Kame gi, suit from Kame-sen'nin

Kuririn (DB2: from the 23rd Tenka'ichi)
SP1: KameHame-Ha
SP2: something akin to the combos he used on MaJunior.
Ultimate: I think he had a cool and 'big' ki blast when he fougth MaJunior. Use that!
Costumes: Kame gi, casual wear he initially wore

Kuririn (Z)
The METEOR set up is good as is for this one.

Gohan (Z1: Basically just Kid Gohan)

Gohan (Z2: the supposed 'teen' Gohan)

Gohan (Z3: The actual teen Gohan from the early Boo stuff)

Ultimate Gohan (Y'know...)

Son Gohan/SSj/SSj2 (GT: Lé gasp)
SP1: KameHame-Ha/Super KameHame-Ha/Super KameHame-Ha
SP2: Masenko/Super Masenko/Super KameHame-Ha volley (a rapid firing of the hugest of his waves)
Ultimate: Super KameHame-Ha/Father-Daughter KameHame-Ha/Son Family Kamehame-Ha (Gohan, Pan, Gokû [GT], and Goten as SSj and SSj2)
Costumes: Work suit, work suit without jacket, Evil Dragons arc dôgi

Give Pan a SSj form and Son Gokû (GT) a SSj2 (original design ala the Oozaru King Vegeta).

GT Trunks and Goten to come later!!

To me, reading suggestions never get old. Because what we build up in our head is almost always 100% better than the actual product. I share most of the same ideas as you.

Except for Krillin (End of DB). That Krillin is too similar to the Z Krillin. And that's coming from me (Krillin's my favorite character in BT3).

I do notice how there are almost no characters represented from that point in the series (end of DB). Except for Cyborg Tao.

Yeah, DB2 Kuririn could be dropped.

More!

Son Goten/SSj (GT)
SP1: KameHame-Ha/Super KameHame-Ha
SP2: Some sort of ki volley of some sort/Super Explosive Energy Wave (the one SSj3 Gokû can use)
Ultimate: Super KameHame-Ha/A combo with Present Trunks (GT) that ends with both of them firing Super KameHame-Ha and Big Tree Cannon
Costumes: GT outfit and adult version of his old gi

Present Trunks/SSj (GT)
SP1: Buster Cannon/Big Tree Cannon
SP2: Some sort of 'heat-seeking' ki attack/Parasetic Explusion (like when he forced Baby out of him)
Ultimate: Big Tree Cannon/Same as Goten
Costumes: GT outfit and adult version of his old gi[/b]
