Wish me luck, everybody!

Post by johnboy1 » Mon Oct 04, 2004 12:27 am

Hey guys! I just entered the runnings for a couple of auctions on ebay. One is for all 16 volumes of the DB graphic novels, and another is for the first 16 DBZ graphic novels PLUS "Dragon Ball Z: The Quest Continues", a DBZ information book of some kind.

Wow, like I said before, I was planning to get the entire manga series, and now I have the chance to get 32 of the 42 volumes cheap! Problem is, though, the auction ends Friday, and Lady Luck, along with her less tawdry cousin Divine Providence, can intervene at any moment, so wish me luck!

Here's the first auction.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 15340&rd=1 Here's the second auction (First 16 DBZ with Quest Continues)

Of course this might not be the EXACT ones he is bidding on, seeing as how I've seen this auction or at least one like it many times before.

SonGokuGT, I knew you were just kidding. So was I.

Congrats, Mugenmidget, you found it! I hope the auction doesn't go too high...

I doubt anyone here would bid on it, I probably shouldn't have posted it but I just wanted everyone to get a gauge on your progress.

Besides, there have been plenty of better deals for the same product so I doubt anyone will hike it.

I currently hold the highest bid for the DB set, but I've been outbid in the DBZ. I'll have to wait until later to bid again, since my Granddad won't let me bid without him being at home (understandable).

The DBZ might go for cheap, as the highest bid (mine) last night was $16. Considering its $140 of merchandise, with only three days to go, that isn't bad.

The DB might go up a little, being at about $34 now. Again, for $128 of merchandise, that's good.

After I collect all 42 manga volumes, I'll set my sights on the complete DBGT DVD collection (since it didn't have a manga) then, voila! The whole DB story for a minimum price! [By the time GN #42 comes out, all the Lost Episodes will probably be available, right?]

Here's a tip for you, It's eBay 101! ^_^

wait till the last second and snipe it, a lot of people snipe at the last second so you should be present at the time refreshing your browser window every 30 seconds or so! I really hope you get 'em, they blow the anime away.

As for me I already own all 42 volumes, so now I'm dedicationg myself to tracking down the Daizenshuu guides, most importantly the first 7. I'm almost sure I may be able to get #2, 3, and 5 soon, I already own #1.

Ah, if only the Daizenshuu were in English... but I've already made a topic about that.

Anyway, yeah, I figured they were better than the anime. By getting the manga, I gain the following:

1.) Less (if any) plot-holes.
2.) The ability to flip to my favorite part at any moment without fast-forwarding.
3.) Better translations.
4.) No stupid filler (no "smart" filler, either, though)
5.) I can make a power level list without #4 bugging me (I know we've all heard the "Yamcha is stronger than Cell" argument)

I can at least have that with DB and DBZ. A DBGT that makes sense is a lost cause, but I can still get it on DVD for the heck of it. Then, over time, I guess I can get all the "extras", namely:

1.) The movies
2.) the Bardock and Goku Jr. specials
3.) the "OVA" [if it ever comes out, if not, I'll download it]
4.) the Garlic Jr. and Kai Tournament sagas
5.) what few info books we have in the US (so far, I've discovered four, of which I have one).

EDIT: Sadly, I won't be able to try the "snipe it at the last moment" trick, because it will end Friday at 11:58 AM, at which time I'll be in World Geography class.

However, if I can train one of my grandparents how to bid, it just might work...

Congrat's, Son!! Hopefully I'll be as lucky in my auction as you were. Good luck with gathering the remaining Daizenshuu!

Seriously though, you don't post to brag about an awesome eBay auction. If the urls weren't found, I wouldn't be surprised if this topic was locked. Congratulations, I guess.

Huh? You didn't make the topic. I don't care if somebody does it in an existing topic... actually, I don't care regardless. Just a warning more than anything else.

(Truthfully I'm just disturbed when people say sorry to me. Internet authority I'm not used to. Officially weirded out for the time being. Have a nice day...)

Yeah, I was just following the eBayness of the topic... BUT! I think we should just have an eBay thread to end all these eBay related posts popping so often. That, or a spam board where posts don't count.

Daizex-Randomness is the closest thing we're getting, and it will suffice. As far as an eBay thread goes, not a bad idea. Just as long as it's no bigger than a single thread. I can guarantee nobody will go out of their way to make a sub-forum for it.

WOW!! I finally got lucky at something! I got it!! I am now the proud owner of 32 of the 42 DB Graphic Novels. Just 10 to go. I think one of the last ten has already come out, hasn't it?

After that, like I said, it's on to collect the GT DVD's.

Well, my role in this thread is done, but, if it's okay with VegettoEX, feel free to post any other eBay (and Dragon Ball) related matters here.

But, if it's not okay with VegettoEX, then... don't.

I'll edit my old sticky for "Legit CDs on eBay" or whatever to include all eBay deals. The only rule I want you to follow, really, is to make sure you post links to legit items... no bootleg shit. So you can stop posting in this thread, and use the other one ^^
