2/27/09 if the website's correct.

It's something about Chun-Li I think.

Don't bother. As bad as the Dragon Ball movie is to most people, the Street Fighter film is undoubtably worse. The costume design said that nothing unrealistic should be in the film, so the CLOSEST we have to ANYTHING resembling Street Fighter is I think some toned-down buns on Chun-Li.

Whereas green Piccolo, Gi-clad Goku, the Dragon Balls, and other aspects at least look like an attempt was made to fit with the basic concept of the original look.

Yeah, because the last one was such a success; who decided to make another one? Honestly?

I don't think DBE will ever be as bad as the classic that is Street Fighter: The Movie, but at least I can laugh at the camp value in that.

Wow, and people complain that the Dragonball trailer is unrecognizable. If "Vega" wasn't in that trailer it bares no resemblance at all.

There is an english trailer. Vega is in the movie, as well. One of the guys from the "Black Eyed Peas" plays him(Not Will.I.Am.).

I hate this, I strongly believe it's an evil way of thinking.

Like blue/green hair being "unrealistic"... it's pure homogeny and conformity and it just keeps getting worse and worse. Realistic doesn't mean realistic at all anymore, just fucking boring.

If you mean that he's a bad actor, then...you've just hit the nail on the head, pal.

I dunno. I've seen a lot of "well, the only positive thing I can say is that it looks like it will be better than the Dragon Ball movie... which isn't saying much."

omegacwa wrote:Wow, and people complain that the Dragonball trailer is unrecognizable.
Then again, Street Fighter is much more grounded in "our world" than Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball should be immediately recognizable.

Apparently there's a Cowboy Bebop live action film in the works over at Fox too. Not sure how I feel about that :?

Well Cowboy Bebop is easier to transfer to a LAM due to the 'realism'.

I've heard about the Bebop live action movie.

Apparently that guy who played Neo in The Matrix (and he was in The Day the Earth Stood Still's newest version) is playing Spike.

Well, it seems like a more defendable approach for Street Fighter than for Dragon Ball, anyway...

But yeah, when I read the writer's views about that movie... Basically, he's arguing that the Street Fighter plot should be "taken seriously", but to me, it just sounds like he's desperate to show fans that he's "totally like them": he "gets it"... when he really doesn't.
The plot was silly from day one, and made no excuses about that. I think the first attempt at telling an actual story was in the Street Fighter Zero series... and it's hard to take it that seriously.

It's definitely a far better candidate than Dragon Ball ever was.

For one thing, it's pretty much grounded in our reality.
You need money for the SFX? Hollywood has money.
Hollywood would never work with an Asian cast? Good thing an Asian cast isn't needed, then.

I believe you could make a pretty good live-action Cowboy Bebop movie.
... But I'm also pretty sure they'll fuck this one up anyway, as usual... Keanu Reeves? Really? Plus, if it's Fox we're talking about... What were the last decent flicks they produced, again?

Oh jeez, the Cowboy Bebop LAM. As a massive fan of the series who a.) named his cat after Spike, b.) actually owns a Jericho 941, the pistol Spike Spiegel uses in the series and c.) traveled to New York in 2002 to see the world premiere of the English version of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," I would be absolutely disgusted if this movie sees the light of day. Still, watch it happen.

They'll have some stupid crap like Spike opening his eyes after the credits or something. Idiots...
