You know, it sounds pretty interesting. Reading this 'review' of yours actually makes me a bit more excited about seeing the movie. I wasn't against seeing the movie before, I was just kind of indifferent towards it, you know?

Edit: How did you come by the script by the way?

I have a feeling Grampa Gohan's going to be one of the only altered characters I'm going to genuinely enjoy in this movie.

Yay for giving each dragon ball its number-count name. I always liked those even though they were only called by name back in the day by oldschool Viz.

Bleh on the semi-Naruto-esquing of Chatku.
Like Goku's eyes would turn red for any reason other than seeing the moon.

By scooter, do you mean like a motorized not-quite-a-motorcycle bike, or a geniune kid's scooter that you power by pushing one foot to the ground, or something else?

Strawberries....is that a coincidence or a pun based on Bulma's 'I was gonna wish for a lifetime supply of strawberries, but decided on the perfect guy instead.'?

Goku crushing on Chi-Chi STILL doesn't seem quite right; its supposed to be the other way around and its kinda bothering me. :(

Amused that Movie Chi-Chi revels sardonically about her name.

And thanks for the play-by-play.
On hiatus.

The only thing I have issue with is him dreaming about Chi Chi in a strawberry filled field. I think the actual Goku would be more interested in the strawberries then her.

Chuquita brings up a funny point though. I wonder if that scene is a small homage to Bulma wanting strawberries at first but later settling on a boyfriend.

Gohan's character seems surprisingly AWESOMELY intact. I think even if I don't care for this film I'll still like him.

That stereotypical bully fight/dialouge made me cringe but it has Chatku lifting up a car as he did in the anime so the payoff is worth the cornball factor.
( Y'know this is starting to sound a little like "Dragonball GT a Hero's Legacy")

Do they actually call him Shenlong? I'm dumbfounded they aren't using dub terms.

Wow. That really doesn't seem so bad. If they breeze through it that quickly then the rest of the movie should be alright.

Guess FUNimation doesn't rule the world after all. I suspect we'll be hearing the surname "Son" next, or something. :D

I like the way Goku's character is handled, with his "Saiyan-ness" is being worked in as well. He wants to be a nice, likable guy, but is mostly failing, and the Saiyan side of him wants to channel that into "beat everyone up."
JAPPO wrote:It starts off with Goku riding his scooter through the parking lot, weaving his way through traffic, showing part of his power.
I'm a bit confused by this part. I can't think of any way raw strength would help him in traffic, unless he's just plowing through and knocking cars out of his way. What's he doing that's extra-ordinary?
JAPPO wrote:the one question he is asked he answers in a very stupid way.
A question about the moon, you say? The "stupid" answer he gives wouldn't happen to be something about a giant monkey-monster that appears during full moons, would it?

It's kind of tough to get Gohan wrong... he had dialogue for less than one chapter... *_*;

And is it supposed to be... ironic that Chi-chi, a character that never uses ki in the story, is one of the first to recognize Chatku's ability to use it?

So far, the movie's beginning is actually reminding me of Forbidden Kingdom's... a kick to the balls so off putting that it actually detracts from awesome scenes that might follow.

I don't like this teen romance thing they've got going on for Goku. Why can't he be a normal, clueless monkey boy?

Well for the most part he is. He just likes Chi-Chi. It's not like he's trying to hop down on every female he comes across.

I know he isn't a stupid jock playboy, but Goku isn't the guy who has 'love at first sight'. He only started to love Chi_Chi after a while of seeing her.

While that may be true I don't see why they wouldn't just work the romance in like the manga had it. Chi Chi could be all over Goku yet a small change would be he doesn't object as much as he did in the manga/anime. There really isn't a reason for him to be dreaming about her in a strawberry filled field.

I also thought Chi Chi objecting to her name was extremely cute (it almost seems like something Toriyama would write.)

Goku doesn't really have to know what he's feeling to feel it. Twelve-year-old Goku probably wouldn't feel it at all, but a somewhat older Goku? Yeah, probably.

Goku: "Wow, y'know, my childhood friend Chi-Chi is really awesome. I like to look at her for some reason, too. It'd be cool if we could both just spend all day lounging in a field of... why are my pants getting tighter?"

Odds are though, that's not the case, and he'll just have a crush on her in the movie.

Well in the movie-verse don't they grow up together? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Personally I don't see anything wrong with him liking Chi-Chi because ultimately they end up together. Chatku supposedly doesn't spend the whole movie trying to get with her because he's with Bulma looking for the Dragon Balls right?

I don't think I'd mind THIS at all. If he was just dreaming about hanging out in a field laying next to Chi Chi and eating some fruit while just discussing trivial shit I would actually embrace this scene as awesome.

Right. It's not a teen romance drama or anything, they just included a romance between two characters that ended up together in the series anyway. It definitely takes a back seat to the action/adventure stuff.

If I remember my plot tidbits right, after the school stuff, Goku might not even see Chi-Chi again until the World Tournament, wherever in the movie THAT takes place.

Well in the International Trailer she's around when Goku is apparently practicing the Kamehameha. She's standing behind him watching him.

This movie's starting to become like an extremely fickle girlfriend who I can't tell if I love or hate with a passion.
