I am glad someone is more obsessed than me. I give you an A+ for effort and a B+ for the pic.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Lol, thank you. :D

If I didn't get so caught up in drawing it, I would've done regular-size instead of using plushie-proportions; but I had fun with it, so....

I'm very interested to see what this scene is like in the film.
On hiatus.

So let's see...

-Goku's really fucking whiny. Naruto whiny. He's also a dork who like Chi-Chi.
-Granpa Gohan is...accurate?! Holy crap.
-Gohan presents Goku with the four-star ball instead of the Nyoi-bo.
-Bulma's desire for a never-ending supply of strawberries becomes Goku's fantasy.
-Goku not wanting to fight resembles Gohan against Cell.
-Gohan, despite being a student of Roshi's...can't take having a house collapse on him. :?
-Goku and Gohan do NOT live on Mt. Paozu, yet Roshi does.

Okay, quite a bit of reversing going on. I especially do NOT like Goku's representation here. At all. Goku making sure he's neat and presentable is also...no. This is supposed to be the character who'd drop his pants in public just to change clothes only after being told his old clothes were ripping apart.

Gohan seems pretty accurate, surprisingly. My only beef is that...he dies by having the house collapse on him. He's supposed to have been a student of Roshi's after all.

Piccolo...eh. It kinda makes no sense that he'd be after the Dragon Balls if he's fully capable of pillaging and plundering on his own. The whole reason Daimao sent offspring was because he was a feeble old man. He wanted the Dragon Balls to restore his youth. He said he could conquer the planet with his own power once he was youthful again. But seeing as how Lord Piccolo can do all of this just fine, gathering the Dragon Balls is pretty damn pointless. He's in character, sure, but the actions are unnecessary considering what he's capable of.

Chi-Chi...well, she seems like a generic popular girl that doesn't treat the outcast unfairly. *Yawn*

On another note, Goku being able to use Ki before learning the Kamehame-Ha is rather...dull. Goku using the Kamehame-Ha in the original was a surprise. No one had used an attack similar to Roshi's Kamehame-Ha before. So Goku just doing a little one out of nowhere in no time when it took Roshi 50 years to master it was really something. It gave Goku something to practice with aside from relying on the kung-fu he was taught and using the Nyoi-bo.

Overall, I'm still not liking what I see.

The early parts were what people wondered the most about and you delivered. Even if you threw up the actual shooting draft script of the final battle first, then went back and did the early part, people would still say what they've said about the early part despite opinions of everything else.

Why does everyone say he's whiney?

He seems more like he's torn between being a Saiyan and fighting, and being a good kid like Gohan wants him to be.

He wants to fight/break shit, but he knows he isn't supposed to, so it irritates him

That's how it comes across to me, too. His Saiyan side is trying to influence him, but he's not letting it. Whiny? No, I see nothing that denotes that. Frustrated? Definitely.

It's going to be interesting when later in the movie, his Saiyan heritage is revealed to him, and he figures out just where all this aggression is coming from.

Exactly.
I feel that they're going to eplain his origin without using the 'He hit his head' excuse, but that Gohan found a way to 'train' him, but as he grew up and hit puberty, he became more of a problem, as his heritage was coming back to him

Really? I thought he WANTS to fight and kick some ass but he won't because he promised his Grandpa he wouldn't.

I thought he was doing something else to Gohan with his Ki? If all he did was make the house collapse what was stopping Gohan from escaping?

Well maybe he's just vain and he doesn't wanna die of old age? Maybe he's strong NOW but when he gets his wish he'll be even MORE powerful? I dunno.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Apparently, they're trying to still show some difference between regular "human" martial artists and the exceptional ones like Goku. Goku wouldn't seem like much "special" if Gohan could just shrug it off and throw rubble and furniture around as easily as him.

I'd agree, except Goku doesn't seem to be any good at it. He's trying to form little blasts, but he either can't do it at all or it ends up too much and he causes more damage than he intends. Being a Saiyan means his ki is probably more "volatile" or something like that.

I suspect a prime part of Roshi's training will be teaching Goku how to channel and control his ki better, and the Kamehameha will be the culmination of that.

Lord Piccolo wants the DragonBalls for that exact same reason, so I guess he gets even better.

But that's kinda the thing.

Daimao felt he had no use for the Dragon Balls for something he could do with his own power. If Lord Piccolo can cause chaos with his own power, then what's the point in having Shenlong grant him the wish of world domination?

Hell, even Commander Red felt his army was more than capable of handling world domination. The only one that could stop that from happening was Goku. Not even the King's army went after them (which is...really odd, if you think about it).

Lord Piccolo DOES want the DragonBalls to get his youth back. Not world domination.

All we've seen "Old" Piccolo do so far is collapse a house and kill some villagers. Not really impressive considering what else he might do. I suppose once he has wished his youth back is when he gets to "effortlessly blowing up cities" level power.

Old Piccolo in the series was plenty strong, as well. He kicked Goku, Chaozu, and Roshi's asses pretty handily. He already was the strongest being on the planet, but that didn't stop him from still restoring his youth, either.

Funny, I thought the hair gel would have the opposite effect. :D At least that would explain the actors hair style.
He should use freeze spray instead. It's the only thing that works on my hair.

But Gohan isn't supposed to be a regular human. At the time of his death, he was one of the strongest men on Earth, on par with Gyumaou, whom nearly everyone were shitting themselves in fear of through the series. Hell, Goku's strength is largely attributed to "trained by one of the world's greatest martial artists, Son Gohan" early on. Making Gohan some run-off-the-mill average fighter ruins what originally made him significant.

He's clearly not run-of-the-mill though, if Goku can't beat him. Just still has some human limitations in the film and can't compete with Piccolo.

Yes. In a prequel comic coming out later this year, it explains how Gohan was fighting four green demons with his staff when a fifth one appeared and threw him off the building into a garbage truck just before the trash compactor was turned on. However, despite being crushed by a garbage truck, he survived.

In Dragonball Evolution, one of the green demons re-appears. This time, he knows Gohan's true weakness: wood.

James Marsters mentioned Piccolo does no sort of "transforming" in the movie. From the description of the script, it seems more like he was worn out and pissed as hell from imprisonment, rather than appearing heavily aged. From what we have seen of him while hooded, he doesn't appear to be old, either.

Not to mention, the character description has always talked about him wanting the Dragon Balls for world domination.

We've seen at least three different versions of Piccolo. It's obvious he undergoes SOME sort of "evolution" throughout the course of the movie.
Not to mention, the character description has always talked about him wanting the Dragon Balls for world domination.
The original character description never specifically said what his wish would be, whereas...

http://dbthemovie.com/2008/09/21/james- ... interview/
James Marsters: "He's been in prison for 2000 years, he's old, and he's angry. He's been searching for the Dragon Ball(s) so that he can turn himself back into his younger self. This is right out of the cartoon."

Looks like taking over the world is the end, and getting his youth and power back is the means.
