Most Sinister DB Moment
Some weeks ago I asked what you guys thought were the funniest moments on DB/DBZ. Now I'm asking what would you guys say were the most sinister moments. Some I would say is when a villain causes someone pain, then mock them. For example in the dub, when Piccolo hits Goku in that hole in his chest and starts screaming he goes, "After all the trouble I went to remodeling this place, you have to go leaking all over it! Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!
" Watching that made me more a fan of evil Piccolo than good Piccolo. I also thought that Cooler's megalomaniacal ranting in movie #5 made him seem just frickin nuts! Hey, with lines like, "HA! HA! HA! HA! It is I who decides who lives and who dies! All things are playthings to me!"

Well, one of the big ones for me was during the fight with Nappa, right after he had tried to kill Gohan and Piccolo had taken the shot and died in his place. It's not shown in the edited, North American dub, but in the original when Nappa heads towards Gohan to get rid of him next and Gohan won't run away, the dub cuts as he's heading towards him. In the original though, Nappa kicks Gohan really hard right in the stomach, sending him flying before it cuts to everyone at Kame House. I just find it a very brutal scene because it's a really hard kick and Nappa's foot is as big as Gohan's whole body. Just to see this huge foot ramming into such a little body really illustrates just how brutish Nappa is. I'm certain he must have ruptured just about every organ in Gohan's body at that moment. The original uncut version of those episodes with the Z Senshi fighting Nappa and Vegita is all quite brutal actually.
Another one for me would be when Freeza impales Kuririn on his horn just after he transforms. And then he starts playing with him while he's still impaled. One can only imagined how much agony Kuririn must be in. I'm suprised he didn't pass out. That scene was hard for me to watch the first time. And of course another sinister Freeza scene would definitely be when Freeza kills Piccolo and Kuririn. Also when he beat up Vegita in such a tortuous way. Yep, I think Freeza was the most sinister villian in DBZ.
Of course Vegita's had some pretty sinister moments too. Violently kicking both Dende and Gohan, destroying Arlia right after the poor citizens were emancipated, and killing innocent people at the Budokai after getting his Majin power-up just to make Goku angry enough to fight him.
With Cell I found it was mostly the way he preyed on and killed so many innocent people to gain more power. As for Majin Buu, I thought when he killed off the remaining people of Earth in one shot as Super Buu because he wanted to fight Gotenks was pretty sinister. What made it worse in my opinion was the fact that Piccolo had reminded him of his statement as a last resort to buy Goten and Trunks more time. It was a plan he used out of desperation and then to have it backfire, making all those people's deaths for nothing, I can only imagine how guilty Piccolo must have felt!
And the other main one that immediately comes to my mind was that guy and his servant hunting people and shooting them for "kicks" during the Buu saga, especially that poor elderly couple. Not to mention killing Buu's little dog! They were beyond sinister and cruel and it was kind of a frightening reminder of the extremes some people could go to if they thought the end of the world was coming. Scary.
Those are the ones that stand out for me anyway.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that was a filler scene. And if it was, it's just another one that made Vegeta look like even more of a cruel asshole.Jerseymilk wrote:destroying Arlia right after the poor citizens were emancipated
My most sinister moment is when Freeza was first beginning to beat up Vegeta, and right as he looked over to Krillin, Gohan and Piccolo to warn them not to interfere, the creepiest music played for an instant.
You just knew Vegeta was fixing to get the beat-down, which, of course, he did.
Freeza later consuming his splattered blood didn't help either... I like Freeza and all, but God he was a creep.

Vegeta blowing up Arlia has alway been, IMO, his dumbest move. Filler or not, he should have left it there. Him and Nappa could have called it home after becoming immortal after all.

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Personally the moment that was the most sinister has to be Drum Vs Tien after he has "mastered" the Mafuba wave, if goku hadn't of intervened when he did we would be one 3 eyed coybow short.
But for DBZ I would say Vegeta telling Goku that he willing allowed Babidi to control him so he could go back to his dark ways, I always like Vegeta but that reminded me of his origins as a bad guy.
DBGT I would say the whole thing was sinister, I hated it.

For me, two scenes really stand out distinctly. The first when Freeza was slowly beating Vegeta to death; for me, every fight up to that point had been about both fighters just going at it until one was beaten. With Freeza, he had already won, but wasn't going to let Vegeta off with dieing so easy. The second was when Trunks asked 17 and 18 why they were killing people, and they just told him simply because they hated humans and didn't care about Gero's plans. A lot of villians took on that attitude, but they were the first from what I remember.

Are you sure thats not just only in the dub? It seems like something Funi would add. Anyway, I'm gonna have to agree with Izlude, Freeza's brutal beating that he gave Nail was pretty frikkin sinister. I mean come on, he popped his chest like a balloon. Thats not human...Super Sonic wrote: I also thought that Cooler's megalomaniacal ranting in movie #5 made him seem just frickin nuts! Hey, with lines like, "HA! HA! HA! HA! The scene where "Ma Junior" swallows the jar which he reversed Kami/Shen back into. The dirty smirk on his face (so damn proud of himself) just shines through in my mind.

Ooooooooooh yeah! That's another great example. And then it pans out and he's just sitting there in the middle of a giant pile of... err... dead-ness ^^;;laserkid wrote:I'd have to say it's in the Bardock Special when Vegeta hears about the destruction of his homeplanet and doesnt give a damn - just saying "And?" over and over, as if it wasnt enough, that always creeped me out.

oh, okay then. ^^Jerseymilk wrote:The Arlia part is filler but since no distinction was made about whether to refer to the anime or manga, I threw it in.
Anyway, I got another sinister moment. Also in the Freeza saga, when Freeza form 2 was chasing Krillin through that mountain and just kept appearing in front of him. I just thought that was really creepy, especially when Freeza said he was small enough to eat. (dunno if that was just a dub line though.)

I guess it was sinister, but I thought it ROCKED my world more than anything.Zackarotto wrote:And then there was that time Shishio bit Kenshin, and... what? DB? Oh...
How about #18's fight with Vegeta?
Now I just wanna hop on a semi and start dishin' out the blows.
And about Shishio, burnt-mummies tend to get really hungry.
Oh snap, that is so true!! I rewatched that TV special fairly recently, and when I saw that scene, it sent shivers down my spine. He just seemed so damn EVIL for such a lil' kid.laserkid wrote:I'd have to say it's in the Bardock Special when Vegeta hears about the destruction of his homeplanet and doesnt give a damn - just saying "And?" over and over, as if it wasnt enough, that always creeped me out.

He was ranting in both versions, but it was more megalomaniacal in the dub than it was in the original.Sun_Wukong wrote:Are you sure thats not just only in the dub?
