I was originally happy that these were finally ending so that we could put this awful, awful chapter in DragonBall Home Video history to an end, but I'm sure the orange bricks will soon be going Blu. That'll start the whole thing over again, and we'll have to wait for that to end.

No they won't be doing Blu-Ray the quality would suck!
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

This is the final box. Season 8‘s last episode was 253.

Captain Awesome wrote:The art is okay, but I'll never get over the horrible layout of the box design, I can't fathom how anyone with any sense of design would let the title "column" crop the artwork, it makes the boxes look incredibly cheap.

Anyway, it will be nice to see these things finally end.
Indeed. The season set box art layouts could easily be done using...the Paint program. In fact, it was the first issue I had with the orange bricks (twas' yellow before wasn't it?) In any case, I've actually grown used to it, and it doesn't bother me as much as the widescreen cropping, the burning colors, the yadayadayada... ........in my pants....

I've gotten used to and kinda like the layout of the boxes. I gotta say though... the combined spine image looks great now that it's almost complete.

I'm just ecstatic that most of us can finally own the entire series spanning from Z - GT in a consistent format. In addition, the Madman Dragonball sets look really snug aside the orange bricks.

Uh... You do realize that it's FUNimation that we're talking about, right?

They could shit in a jewel case, scribble "Dragon Ball Z" on it, and someone would buy it. They're out to sell stuff, not please videophiles.

Though, if they were to release some compilation sets, using the same resolution, that would be really cool (like, boxes of seasons one and two, just using less discs)... But, back to my original point.
---
I really, really like this cover. I actually almost forgive them for putting Freeza saga Goku on season six... Almost.

And, as a random side note, as much as people have knocked this release, it really is nice to know that all of DBZ will be out and available at a reasonable price point... For me, at least.

I really don't have ANY problem with these sets. I can finally own DBZ in it's entirety at a reasonable price.

And to be honest, I don't really give a crap about what's cropped or the colors or anything. I can tell what everything/everyone is, and I can still clearly see whats going on. Everything looks just right to me, there are just bars at the top and bottom, which I enjoy.(It make me feel like I'm in a movie theatre, personally).

But then again, I'm no video buff. I'm a simple man, with simple needs. :D

Not that it matters, but I really wish there could have been alternate covers to these sets, or perhaps some "pre-order exclusive covers". Then again, that'd be unnecessarily too complicated for something so shoddy I suppose. :P

Budget release. Just be glad it doesn't have the Viridian logo plastered on it...

...though that's probably what FUNi will do next...

That didn't stop them from doing the standard def releases :P.

Anyway it will be interesting to see what FUNimation's next move will be, we know what they're doing with GT, but as for DB and it's movies...

Referencing EGM's review of Ultimate Battle 22 isn't making this whole "EGM is dead" thing easier you know.

Wow, FUNi uses an image of a character that I'm absolutely sure I've never seen before... and it's a pretty nice pic, too!

While I'm not that big on these releases, I am glad that the entire series will soon be available on DVD here in the states in a consistent manner. It just stands as a further reminder that I gotta pick up those Madman sets for DB...

This is...

By far....

The best cover. But I do agree with Undercooked Sausage. Boo should have had this one.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

It really seems strange that Buu is the only main villain who doesn't get a cover. :?

I mean, I guess it really doesn't matter what FUNi does with these sets now, especially after Season 7's Piccolo.

BLAH!
