Was Bra planned?

Do you think that Bulma and Vegeta planned to have another baby?
Or was it an accident?

I'm not sure but i thought there might have been a possibility that she was planned because Bulma was getting older and perhaps wanted another child.

Your thoughts?

Eh, it's hard to say. Who's to say any of the children wee planned? Goku doesn't seem like the ecstatic father type, but it doesn't seem unlikely Chi-Chi wouldn't want kids. Pretty much the same situation with Vegeta and Bulma.

The only ones I could see being planned are Pan and Marron.

And something tells me Goten was probably an accident.

Chichi talked about wanting kids during the 23rd Budoukai, but I can't remember if it was filler or not.
She was always a strong supporter of family values, though, so I can't imagine her not wanting to have any children. And Goku, well, he probably barely knew what a kid was.

Is it strange to think that there might be some sort of indirect correlation between when Mr. Toriyama had his children and when some of the characters had theirs? (He and his wife had a son first, and then later on a daughter. Most of the girls--Bura, Pan, and Marron; weren't born until near the end of the series whereas Gohan and Trunks were born in the middle.)

Crackpot theory of mine. I dunno. ^^;

But to be a bit more on topic, I can see Bura being planned. Maybe she was a part of Bulma's mid-life-crisis?

The only way for Goten to be born was for Goku and Chi-Chi to procreate after he was sick and before the Cell Games. It's probably not a good idea to bring a child into the world when you're not sure the world is gonna be around very long. Methinks during the 10-day preparation for the Cell Games, Goku and Chi-Chi... y'know...

There's also the fact Goku didn't know who Goten was when they met, supporting the theory he was not planned. Goku's not very bright, but he wouldn't forget trying to make a new child.

Or maybe he would. He's shown various levels of density.

I'm guessing Bulma did plan Bra because I think she really wanted a daughter too. Of course, you can never be sure you actually get one. I think Bulma was very pleased with a girl this time, though.

I reckon Goku knew they were going to be expecting a baby, but he forgot about it during the rush of the battles during that period, and in the afterlife he still didn't remember.

The timing doesn't work out, though. Goten was already seven years old, seven years after the Cell Games. When using that to work out when he was conceived, not just born... you have to account for those extra nine months, too. More likely, Goten was conceived sometime within the last year of the three spent prepping for the Androids. I'm sure Chi-Chi forced Goku to take plenty of breaks from training with Gohan and Piccolo to spend some "quality time" with her.

I always wondered where Goten really fit in, and then iwhen I was 16 I found a little hentai manga of Goku and Chi Chi of the night before the Cell games. Ironically, when I was re-reading the manga recently, I noticed just like in that h-manga, Gohan was nowhere to be found (apparently hangng out with Dende & Piccolo at the lookout for the remaining days) and Goku had finished collecting the Dragonballs.

So oddly, that little H-manga from years ago seemed to make canonical sense to me to this day as Goten's conception.

I think Bra might have been planned, by both parties. Vegeta was a "family man" long enough before Bra's birth. I'm guessing he got all soft and gushy, if only privately.

Of course, it could be like it was with Trunks.

Somehow I just don't think anything like that with Vegeta and Buruma was ever planned. They both tend to be impulsive and have a "Whatever happens, happens." attitude.

But yeah, I highly doubt any of the kids were planned. Goku likely wouldn't have known how to make kids when Gohan was concieved, and he was clueless about Goten. Trunks only happened because Vegeta can't keep it in his pants, Bra was likely the same. Marron, well, I mean, look at 18, it had to happen sooner or later. >>

Pan is the only one that has a chance of having been planned. >>
