DBZ Legacy of Goku 2 International

Post by Izlude » Thu Aug 19, 2004 7:44 pm

Heh the whole "Reverse Import" thing is funny, but... wtf... this version has WAY COOLER avatars for all the characters! I'm wondering also if it will have some extra stuff we didnt get. I'm betting anything there'll be someting...

Altough, I hope Japan never experiences the 1st Legacy of Goku or the CCG

But...good thing Buu's Fury has coolio avatars so far, but seeing Piccolo as a NPC makes me pissed off!

I know exactly what you mean; I thought I noticed the character screens looked better somehow. I wonder if they translated the game script to japanese (the games script is basically a copy of the dub) or used the shows original script.

Also one screen cap shows transformed Coola in an area he was never supposed to be. Weird. :?

It's fairly shocking that DaizenshuuEX missed it though. I tell you, that site is really starting to go down hill...

Yeah, fuck them. They're not on top of things at ALL, anymore. I mean, they obviously missed the ball on the DBZ movie 9 info. Legacy totally beat us on that shit. Including hot-linking Amazon's image, now.

Damn, we suck. Anyway...

Coola's in the American version of the game, but what seems to differ about the new Japanese version? It's been FAR too long since I've played the game.

Who created our version of LOG's avatars, anyway? I mean, the exact person? Some brain-dead at Webfoot just up and say "Hmmm, I think I'll make the avatars look hideous!"? I mean, some were okay, but ones like Goku made me vomit.

Speaking of avatars, looks like Deus has another risque Pandora pic ^_^ Oh, and by the way, I can't watch Eva anymore without yelling "Holy Crap" everytime Shinji's daddy's onscreen.

Back on topic, arent all GBA games reverse import? Or am I getting this mixed up with backwards compatible?

Apparently, the majority if not all of the game's art is done by Mandi Paugh of the Megaman Homepage (www.mmhp.net)

And I hope they'll continue to do so.

Backwards compatible means that it will play games from the older systems.

I think "Reverse Import" is just a term made up in a bizarro situation where a game based on a manga/anime is developed in the US and then sent to Japan.

"Region-Free" is a term used for Game Boy/GBA games because they play on any system regardless of what country it's from.

That's the image I was talking about; aside from the baffling message to the right, Coola is only supposed to appear briefly at the wilderness South of Metro West, and then much later at new planet Namek.

Maybe Cooler is playable? Probably not, but we can always have hope...

Hmm. Some of the avatars do seem nicer. Young Gohan's in particular (although Gohan's avatars improved as the game went on). Trunks' one looks just as bad, and 17's seems to have been changed without becoming better or worse. It's just...a different angle.

Although there is other weird stuff. Running the video of Gohan's "Super move movie", it shows him doing a Kamehameha while wearing he's sporting the ponytail and Namek-era Saiyan armour he does at the beginning of the game. How can that be? It can't be pre-production problems, since the game has already been produced.

Bumping an old thread... I'm allowed to... it's my place :P

Anyway, with most of Banpresto's sites being down due to domain registration... err... "forgetting to renew," I figured I'd ask around here since you all seem to have a better memory than me. What do we know about the International version, in terms of differences from the original American version? I'd like to add something about it to "The Buzz," as it seems like a relevant news item to add.

BTW, here's its entry on Amazon Japan if anyone wants to try and pull anything out of the Japanese text.

All I can remember are the different facial icons. Perhaps some of the music is changed?
