I'd totally agree except the panel came after the TV special.rereboy wrote:I personally believe that the panel in the manga didn`t want to make us believe that bardock was that high and that far from the planet.
It just wanted to show us bardock and planet Vegeta.
However, when they did the series and the movie of bardock they took the litteral meaning of that panel.
Can Saiyans breathe in space?

Yamucha Densetsu - APRIL 8th Update - Goku is Yamucha and Yamucha is Goku

There is a very large image in this here post, but I believe it is completely necessary to my point here, because people need to understand what they're gabbing on about when they say "the upper atmosphere".NeptuneKai wrote:I personally don't respond because I don't know what they mean by "the upper atmosphere."
This is the atmosphere of the Earth, to scale:

There is no air up there.

Not that I care but couldn't you just have put it in link form?Rocketman wrote:There is a very large image in this here post, but I believe it is completely necessary to my point here, because people need to understand what they're gabbing on about when they say "the upper atmosphere".NeptuneKai wrote:I personally don't respond because I don't know what they mean by "the upper atmosphere."

Anyhow my point is who's to say the Dragonworld follows that chart? As mentioned previously I think if our moon was blown up it wouldn't be a-okay and everyone would just go about their business.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight
Aren't "Toei doesn't know what they're doing" and "It's just a cartoon" the same thing?
Maybe planet Vegeta had very dense moons with a strong enough gravitational pull to...somehow...draw the atmosphere up higher...?
Or maybe all of Freeza's men are fitted with something in their wind pipe to let them breath in space?
I dunno.

Well, Toei were the ones responsible for the Bardock special.SaiyaMel wrote:I guess Toriyama didn't take physics or biology in school.

Toriyama had a hand in Bardock.
Though my personal thing is that, if Goku can fly through space after dealing with an exploding planet, one of three things is true, with a personal belief as a given that they can withstand most, if not all of the general stresses of chilling in space without a protective suit.
1: Saiyans can breathe in space.
2: Saiyans can hold their breath for a REALLY long time(unless that planet he appears to have stopped at on the way there was stupid close to Namek).
3: Saiyans can survive on their ki(you can't survive on the oxygen that some airtight ki-thingamajigger would hold in without #s 2 or 1 being true; anybody would use up that oxygen in virtually no time.)
Assuming I am wrong on ALL counts, maybe it was just nighttime and Bardock was at a place high enough to allow us to see the planet below without being outside the atmosphere. I honestly have NO idea(in high school and not taking any sort of astrology/earth science course) if my second theory is remotely possible.

I dislike you intensely.(probably)
But even if they COULD survive with out air, surely they would expand and go blubbery?
Because there isn't any gravity, something stupid would happen.

No and I wish I knew where people were getting this so I could crack that source over the head. Astronauts have been exposed to vacuum when they had suit malfunctions and that never happens. The body is made of stronger stuff than the rubber in a balloon.Maker777 wrote:But even if they COULD survive with out air, surely they would expand and go blubbery?

This theory is pretty basic; it assumes that Saiyans can simply survive the stresses of space; if Freeza can be weaker than Goku and have his only mention-worthy insurance for space survival is the "Breathing is for pussies!" method, I think I can safely assume that Goku's body could handle space as far as vacuum, pressure, and temperature go, possible immediate suffocation aside.

Regular human bodies already can do that! Right now! I could float out into vacuum buck-naked and pelvic thrust at the entire northern hemisphere for three minutes straight until I passed out from lack of oxygen, then be perfectly fine if they pulled me back into the ship! Why is no-one listening to me!shinaobi wrote:I think I can safely assume that Goku's body could handle space as far as vacuum, pressure, and temperature go, possible immediate suffocation aside.

Not before you die of suffocation. There is no air in space to carry the heat away from your body, so you would lose only the tiny amount your body radiates away in infrared.shinaobi wrote:Also; you'd freeze to death
Not at Earth's distance from the Sun. A sunburn, yes, but again, not before you suffocate.unless you were in the sun's light, in which case you'd burn up.
