DBZ: Infinite World - Freeza Saga Cutscenes [Fandub]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wocxc7qLek&fmt=18
While Sean and most of the cast were good in Burst Limit, they seemed to be lacking in Infinite World, so I asked MasakoX if he would do Goku's voice. He accepted. MasakoX is an AWESOME Goku. I did Freeza and others, other than Krillin. I took the audio from Burst Limit for him.
I also zoomed the video so the "subs/captions" aren't there.
I also did the based the script off of Burst Limit and some of Daimao's subtitles.
Other parts, I said something similar to what was on the Infinite World captions. Also, some parts I just made up what I thought might work.
This is also the first time I ever actually attempted a serious dub of Vegeta. So, the voice might not fit, and it's my natural voice.
Cast:
MasakoX: Goku
SSJ4Furanki: Freeza, Vegeta
Sonny Strait: Krillin (Official Dub Voice, BURST LIMIT AUDIO)

I know, this literally was the first time I tried voicing Vegeta. Plus, even if my voice doesn't fit Vegeta, at least it's something different from Sabat or Drummond impressions. (No offense to people who can do those.)DBHighDefinition wrote:I liked your Freeza.Your natural voice just doesn't suit Vegeta's type of character if you know what I mean.
Whoo hoo, at least I have one DBZ character voice that's liked.

I like your natural voice as Vegeta, but you might wanna start off doing scenes that aren't so emotionally involved as to give yourself some practice. Also, the IW cutscenes are so fast that you have to cram entire speeches into a few seconds. Try using clips from the show instead to give yourself better pacing. Your Vegeta has potential.
I really wasn't a big fan of your Freeza, though. Next time, try mimicking his Japanese voice or something similar. It might work better for you.
MasakoX was amazing as usual. It was weird hearing him play Goku in a more serious tone, but it fit.

What? "Son of a Bitch..." I thought it would work there. It sounds like something a person would say to the person who killed his friend.NeptuneKai wrote:MasakoX was awesome as Goku. He has great emotional range! Although what's with that awful anime lab dialouge?
At least it's not, YOU FUCK, YOU DESTROYED MY HOUSE, YOU CANDY ASS FAGGOT!
Yeah, I was impressed with MasakoX before this, but now that I'm 100% sure, he can be serious as Goku, he's the perfect English Goku.
Yes, MasakoX is indeed an awesome Goku, serious or not. At first it does seem weird hearing him do Goku outside of the Abridged series, that's really serious.Kendamu wrote:I like your natural voice as Vegeta, but you might wanna start off doing scenes that aren't so emotionally involved as to give yourself some practice. Well, I could try to imitate Ryusei Nakao or as you said something close, or in the spirit of Mr. Nakao's Freeza. It could work, hey if I can imitate Eric Cartman, Batman (Christian Bale's) and Brain Drummond's Ryuk, over time I should be able to imitate Mr. Nakao's Freeza.
You're right about the using anime. It does give more room to get more comfortable and in-character. The games do rush through the scenes, rather quickly.
I'll attempt more Vegeta clips in my voice, but what scene should I try that's not to serious; but, isn't too silly at the same time, or I could just do a silly scene. (EX: Over 8,000? Not really a fan of the meme, but I wouldn't mind making fun of it.)

There was a lot of unnecessary swearing that didn't even correspond with the original script. I don't exactly want to compose a list but I will if you don't believe me.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:What? No, I know what you mean. Probably wasn't that smart to add in. Oh, well. I figured when someone close to you would die, and the person who killed him is standing right in front of you, I'd starting cussing him out and wanting to get revenge. But, than again, that wasn't in the original script. Next clip I do, I gotta have the DVD playing at that moment to confirm what the actual dialouge is and base it off of that.NeptuneKai wrote:There was a lot of unnecessary swearing that didn't even correspond with the original script. Yes but this is a children s cartoon not real life. If a normal human were to see Freeza they would probably go "Holy fucking shit" but Kurirrin goes "Oh wow he's relatively creepy looking." It's the world of anime dialouge.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:No, I know what you mean. Probably wasn't that smart to add in. Oh, well. That's true. Got me there. Good that about this though is now I know what characters I should be attempting to do voices for and which not to.NeptuneKai wrote:Yes but this is a children s cartoon not real life. The other thing is, well, it's not you anyway. How you'd react shouldn't come into it that much, it's how do they react.

Just so I'm not misunderstood, I don't mind swearing when it actually exists in the original script. I'm just against changing lines like "ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT KURIRRIN?!" to "YOU'RE DEAD ASSHOLE!"SSJ4 Furanki wrote:I know that much, but dialouge wise for a children's anime, I gotta work on that.Sprite Satan wrote:The other thing is, well, it's not you anyway. That's true. In IW though I don't think "Are you talking about Kuririn?" was in there. At least not the Dub dialouge.NeptuneKai wrote:Just so I'm not misunderstood, I don't mind swearing when it actually exists in the original script. Oh, you're just using that as an example, whoops.

Y'know I'm not sure myself. It looks like the "Are you talking about Kuririn!?" pose though. Nonetheless you know what I mean.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:That's true. Yeah, the next Freeza saga dub, I do, hopefully with MasakoX as Goku again. Will have less "not originally in the script" swearing added. Normally when I fandub something I just use the dub script, but with Dragon Ball Z, that's not the case.NeptuneKai wrote:Y'know I'm not sure myself. When I was talking about Vegeta, I was thinking more of doing stuff from when he first arrived on Earth. Then, he was mainly using that "I'm cool as fuck" tone-of-voice most of the time. Later on he did some of the agry stuff and some of the arrogant stuff, but you jumped in and did Vegeta for the first time in his "this is the most heartfelt and passionate thing I've ever said about anything and I'm saying it as I die" speech.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:I'll attempt more Vegeta clips in my voice, but what scene should I try that's not to serious; but, isn't too silly at the same time, or I could just do a silly scene. Oh, alright. Yeah it is a bad choice for the first time to voice Vegeta. Maybe it'll work for Majin Vegeta. But, I'll try that after I've gotten used to voicing Vegeta.Kendamu wrote:When I was talking about Vegeta, I was thinking more of doing stuff from when he first arrived on Earth. Here's me being an asshole again. Your Vegeta voice sounds like you're reading off lines from a script. I mean, I know you are, but you know what I mean. The first thing that popped in my head was my 7th grade class reading Fiddler on the Roof while staring aimlessly at the clock waiting for the day to end. Your Frieza sounds like a generic villain voice ("I'm angry because I'm evil! Now watch as I perpetually growl"). That's too much even for Nappa, let alone Frieza. Sorry if this sounds really harsh, because I know it is, but frankly I don't think it would do you any good to have us sitting here talking about how "you're really good" and "you sound so convincing".That's the Paula Abdul approach to judging, and I prefer the Simon Cowell approach (well, I think I'm being a bit nicer, but you know what I mean). Keep working at it, change what you're doing wrong, and who knows? Maybe you'll be the next Masako Nozawa. But you really do need work.
My advice for your Vegeta and Frieza, imitate the Japanese voice actors. Especially Frieza, go for that pompous, almost elegant tone of voice that's sinister, haunting, and mocking all at once. For Vegeta, I think a generic Japanese villain's voice--sly, coy, and even mocking at times--would work.
As for MasakoX, I usually love his work. I think he is an awesome Goku and the TFS parody really shines under his portrayal of the lead character. But I thought his performance was lacking here. Actually, I saw one clip of him doing SSJ4 Goku in GT swallowing the Dragon Ball and wasn't too thrilled with that either, so maybe he's better at portraying Goku being silly or naive. But we'll hold off on judgments like that until he has a few more serious-Goku scenes under his belt (honestly, I don't think there's more than a full minute of MasakoX-serious-Goku scenes throughout the entire Internet). Whatever the case, I don't know, it felt like he really wasn't putting any effort in. The part where he yelled "FRIEZAAA!!!" seemed to be lacking emotion, as did the "You fool!" line, a line I think was delivered more convincingly by Sean Schemmel in the anime (but let's steer away from that please). His voice just didn't seem to fit the way it does during the TFS DBZ Abridged parodies. Then again, it could just be the combination of Infinite World cutscenes and shitty translations. At least use Burst Limit clips next time.
