Dragonball GT : Whats up with that?

Dragonball GT : Whats up with that?

Post by Shenron_3000 » Mon Oct 25, 2004 12:30 pm

Someone mentioned on another post, but never was properly answered, that Dragonball GT has a rather odd flaw. Didn't Baby Gohan kill Piccolo or something, well Piccolo died somehow and the black star Dragonballs were still useable even though they were created by Kami and Piccolo when they were one being.

Zuh? Someone fill me in on the ludicrous plot to the Baby Saga of Dragonball GT.

One more thought. If Piccolo was dead how did he rescue the child and the dog at the part where earth blows up.
Its all fun and games untill somebody loses an eye

Well, the silly thing about that was Piccolo appeared like he was killed by Baby back when he started stealing bodies on Earth. However, after defeating Goku he uses the black star dragon balls, which would mean he was still alive. What didn't make sense was that Piccolo didn't reappear again until his actual death at the end of the Baby saga.

Really what the GT writers were doing, was getting Piccolo out of the picture early, but it didn't make a lot of sense. He doesn't appear to have been controlled like the rest of Baby's mind slaves, yet he doesn't make a return to stop him either.

I think I can explain it. You see, Piccolo was embarassed to be a part of such a series and stayed out of the episodes as much as possible until he finally asked the creators to let him die for good so he could end the assault on his dignity. :P Sorry B, just couldn't resist. :D

Well there's that, or Akira didn't like what they had planned out for Piccolo's role in it so he asked them to take it out?

Just a guess?

Toriyama-sama had very little involvment in GT. He did a few earlier character designs and some minor things here and there but by the time Bebi got to Earth I'm pretty sure his involvment was over. And he had nothing to do really with the plot.

Piccolo was also a favourite of Toriyama's, which is why he kept him around after the 23rd Ten. Budokai. Wonder what he said about Piccolo's death?
Fry: Wow. The jungles on Mars look like the jungles on Earth.
Prof. Farnsworth: Jungles? On Earth? (laughs)

That's true, Akira has mentioned that Piccolo is his favourite character so odds are he didnt have a say in what happened in GT and the people who wrote it probably didn't know a lot about what they were doing.
However i have an "inkling" that Akira was more involved with the so called "Lost Episodes" which i have seen all of ( UK has had DBGT shown for a long time :P )
But it still doesn't resolve Piccolo's mystical disapearence why is it still unexplained??
Or maybye its just a stupid mistake and there is no other particular reason, well i'll wait for confirmation and research it online.
Later Chaps!

It must be a mistake. But the funny thing is that they never even TRIED to explain it.

I think Piccolo wanted to save his dignity, sort of like actors who don't star in a big movie's crappy sequel. He took the easy way out: unexplained and nonsensical disappearance and death.

Since when? Tom Cruise was in MI2 and Will Smith was in MIB2, wich both sucked big time.

Yes Toriyama has said that Mr. Satan is one of his favourites, but his most favourite is Piccolo. His statements about this can even be found in two different English sources from Viz.

It all depends on who you consider "actors," Sun_Wukong. It all depends...

As much as I'm a Will Smith fan, I agree with oponok on this one. They are "movie stars" not "actors".

Much like Gandalf Piccolo just disappeared only to reappear later, unfortunatly he didnt get more powerful from it.

I guess a Wizzard DID do it...
