I'll second this request. I'm pretty interested in how the special turned out.Captain Awesome wrote:Any chance on some screen caps from the GT tv special?, the original single release looks awful, the picture is washed out and plagued by motion blur.

Blue Velvet is definitely the best of the 4 ending dubs in my opinion. I love that song. That and "Don't You See" are my two favorite songs from GT. (The English DYS just didn't cut it for me...it was alright, but it didn't do the original justice.)
So, unless I missed it, does anyone have some mp3/any audio rips of the new openings they'd like to share?

Heck, I'd be happy to rip the audio if anyone knows of a ripper that works on the AOL browser.Tsukento wrote:Still waiting on those, unfortunately.

I talked to that guy who uploaded the video. Unfortunately only the 4th ending and the second opening animation are creditless.kusakun004 wrote:That's interesting. Now I'm wondering if the other two endings are on there and the second opening. Even though that is the creditless version that FUNi themselves created.

Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong voice, but Baby's Japanese voice reminds me of Furiza a little bit, except not as deep.
I still like it, though.

Hooly crap, I completely forgot that they'd be making dub versions of the endings, which is why I ignored this thread until now. I personally didn't like the third dub ending too much. For one, the music that plays (especially at the start with the Dragon Balls reactivating from their rock state) is considerably different from the original. That beginning part pretty much defined the song for me, kinda like how the beginning guitar riff defined Dan Dan for me, too.
While I'd hate to disagree with the great EX, I have to well... disagree. I really really liked the fourth ending. The tone of the singer matched well with the song itself and the background music playing was similar enough to the original. Though I woulda have personally made the line "blast through the here and now" instead of "blast right out of here." It just sounds better to me, and I think I've been singing it in my head as that, since the English subbed translation of the line matched so well.
Argh, while I'm fully aware of the slight blurring made as well as some of the other nitpicky stuff (actually, are the Japanese title cards kept this time around?) I'm very much tempted to just sell off all my GT singles and just pick up the two GT Season Sets. Then again, it's GT so...

Did anybody else get this early?
I got mine on the 1st or 2nd... I forget exactly. I got it at my local Wal-mart. When I saw it, I thought it was due out on the 10th, but I pretty much assumed I was wrong and bought it.
Today I went to Wal-mart and its spot was replaced with Season 1 and Season 2 is wedged underneith the bottom of the rack where only nosy people and detectives like me search when wondering why Season 1 was put back up.

Perhaps because selling before release date isn't always recommended?
I know my local stores aren't selling before the 10th because they are bastards from hell.

By Chandler you mean Funi's narrator right? But yeah, I totally agree. Funi's narrator always pisses me off, always spoiling the moment. I'm pretty happy with the two outro's, but slightly dissapointed with the ending of the series. I like that they had Dan Dan, and I don't mind that it's in Japanese (though I'd like a full English version for variety), but I hate that the characters and the narrator speaking over the song completely ruin the emotion for me.JulieYBM wrote:Chandler's narrator is absolutely terrible, to be honest. Not only in script but in overacting. Maybe if it was Brice Armstrong the narration would be bearable...but here...not so much.
Also, for some reason, at the ending, Dan Dan sounds muffled, while the character sound way clearer.
Yeah, with his 'hardcore' voice. I much prefer Steve Olson or the mighty Brice Armstrong.Kid Trunks wrote:By Chandler you mean Funi's narrator right? But yeah, I totally agree. Picked mine up today. One thing I noticed was that on the dub-with-Japanese-music track of the TV special, the Japanese version of "Don't You See!" plays.
Watching some of my favorite scenes in the dub with original music now.
