Krillin's the only character who doesn't have shitty VA in any dub. At least all the ones I've bothered to check out.

Holy shit. Stopped watching after "FIRE!"

Okay, all the characters have at least ONE crap VA somewhere in the multiple dubs. :<

Haha, that's around the time I stopped watching.

I think the last thing I heard was "We have to get out of here!"

How could the company who dubbed that think they were choosing good voices?

Yet people complain about Funimation.
Probably because FUNi's voices are more well-known, and just as bad.

I dislike her voice for Gohan though, Gohan is not the "eternal child" that Goku is. He could've benefitted from a different voice actor.
I guess I'm on the other side of the fence since I liked Nozawa's Gohan the best. Don't know why but it seems that her more reserved approach to Gohan sat better with me than her approach to her loud and brash approach to Goku, both while he was a child and when he moved on to being a teenager.

If anything with her voices it went like this for me.

Gohan (Saiyan-Cell Game, then High School-on), Goten (All), Goku (Child), Tullece, Bardock, Goku (23rd Budokai-on).

And it's not that I like Nozawa's older Goku the least cause I think it's legendary and if it were changed then that would be a nightmare but I just liked her other roles better. I'm fine with all of her portrayals of the younger Son family members and of her portrayal in general.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Everyone says the Funi voices are so bad, could someone explain to me why the majority here feel that way?
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Stuff from Seasons 3-5 pretty much explained all that to me even though they do improve by the Buu saga which is a bit late.

It's subjective, for the most part. People can tell me Vegeta is forced all they want, I still don't hear it.

I guess my ears just defective. :P

I hear it's because they sound like "Saturday Morning" cartoon characters or because they sound like wrestlers, and because some of them can't act or were horribly miscast.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I just find it funny that the main argument used in favor of Nozawa's Goku is "it fits his character!"....but she also voices Bardock and Tullece, heartless monsters on the other end of the spectrum.

Honestly, I feel anyone could've voiced Goku and become insta-legendary. He's Japan's hero.

Not saying Nozawa's bad, but overrated.

Could not some people in Japan make the same statement about their voice actors? Some people just like something different and thus they feel that it is superior to what they are used to. I am the opposite I prefer the English/Funimation voice actors because that is what I am accustomed to, thus the Japanese voices just seems off to me. I also agree that is it subjective but the comments come across as if their opinion concerning Funimation’s voices are fact.

How does one determine that a voice was inappropriate?

Not only that but they all sound the same tonal changes or not. I understand she does a deeper/higher voice but I can listen to all of em and think "Sounds like Goku".

It all comes down to a matter of preference.

As far as it seems they were just defaulted into having Goku's voice since one, Bardock is his dad and two, Tullece is from the same Saiyan type pool.

"It's not a surprise that Kakarotto and I look alike. Us lower class Saiyan come in small types."

Meh. As far as I saw it, the Clone Troopers from Star Wars are going to sound the same despite their motives so why's it so wrong for Tullece to not sound the same. Hell The dub should've made him sound like Goku but they missed the point entirely somehow.

Yeah but in Star Wars we are specifically told that the Storn Troopers were identical clones so the same voice is appropriate. Yet in the case of Tullece, he just shares physical characteristics with Kakarrot, the same with Bardock. Nothing is ever said that would indicate that King Vegeta had cloning tanks outback.

Exactly. But the point of the Tullece character was to show a 'what if' approach to Goku. With that said I found Nozawa voicing Tullece to be very appropriate.

I understand that but that was the out of universe explanation, the only way it would make sense for the same voice actor to be used is to say that Tullece was a clone. The explanation and the use of that woman just threw it all off.

He was a long-hair low-class, commonly known as a LH-LD, which is why he has such a deep voice.

Well it's not really any different than how the Mexican dub, I don't know if you're familiar with it or not, used the same actor.

I mean get this, if Funi used Schemmel to voice Tullece would that have been a problem? Or are you being thrown off cause of Nozawa's voice in general?
