Picture US actors as counterparts' other roles?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Picture US actors as counterparts' other roles?

Post by Super Sonic » Wed Feb 11, 2009 1:05 am

As title asks hypothetical question, can any of you guys picture US DB actors as some of their Japanese counterparts' other roles that they did that they did not portray in English and vice-versa? For example, can any of you picture Ted Cole, or Chris Sabat as Tuxedo Mask, or picture Toby Proctor or whoever did Tuxedo Mask after him as Yamcha? Granted some wouldn't work (Sean Schemmel as Grandma on Love Hina, probably not) but thought I'd ask what you think.

I pictured that too, even before 4Kids got the show. Now, I'm so used to Colleen Clinkenbeard, can't picture it so much.

And while in reality both Stephanie Nadolny and Sean Schemmel would've been too young to have done so, either of them as Pidge, would've been interesting, though part of me wouldn't want to change his voice, despite it being really annoying and not aging as well as the other guys.

Irony, Saffron Henderson, the voice of Gohan (and young Goku) from the old dub of DB and DBZ DID voice Tetsuro in the Galaxy Express 999 movie dubs, a role Masako Nozawa had - so we have a real life instance of this!

One of these days, I should see some of those or that Harlock series I hear so much about. Interesting find.

Picturing the U.S. DB actors in their Japanese counterparts' non-DB roles? Oh I got a good one for you:

Sean Schemmel as Doug Funnie. "Dear Journal, I fought Roger again today. We only destroyed one planet in the process."

Didn't know she did him. *pictures* Hard to picture anyone other than Billy West as Doug. (Yeah, he wasn't in the Disney one, but it wasn't as good as the Nick original).

I could picture Alanis Morissette being Chi-Chi.
Gohan: "You're a Buddhist." Kuririn: "A hungry Buddhist!"
