Milksop. :P

A nice guy, a pushover, a target for bullies... basically Peter Parker. :P
Peter Parker?
I actually thought of Mr de Chagny first, then I noticed the Peter Parker similarites as I was listing the symptoms of milksopism. :P

Pre-spider bite, of course...

I've been mostly keeping track of what from the junior novel has been revealed so far. Aside from having some reluctance to fight in the early portions for Gohan's sake, he's been portrayed as pretty "Goku-like" so far; confident, fight-loving, simple-minded, etc. Power-wise, he's very tough, durable, and strong.

He's not just a pushover. He's frustrated by the school kids' treatment of him not because he's powerless to do anything about it, but because he can do plenty about it, but isn't allowed to. He eventually finds a way, simply deftly dodging and letting them beat themselves up, and taunting them all the time.

This, though, is already stuff we knew even before the book started getting leaked. In fact, several key things from the book are even contradicting other leaked plot details from earlier reports, and other things we've seen in trailers and excerpts and such aren't even mentioned (like Piccolo destroying a city). Some of that may stem from it being written for kids. So I think anything contained in the junior novels should be taken with a sizable grain of salt.

Ugh, Smallville.
Surely there is someone other than me in the world who can enjoy that show???

Alright, it's pretty lame, but I still like it... and Season 6 was good.

Here's the thing, this junior novel has basically confirmed everything we have been lead to believe about this rendition of the character in question. It's actually quite representative of the film they're trying to sell, as I take it.
And so, you are interested in this?
No, I'm saying his sarcasm is annoying.

Season Eight is better, sans the Lana stuff.

I'm sorry, I didn't have the patience to sit through the start's "Kryptonite-powered Fiend of the Week, with 50% Teen Drama!", so I didn't get to anything with Doomsday. Sometimes I'd see an episode with a butchered Green Arrow or a Flash whose only amusing characteristic was a set of fake IDs with the names of all the different Flash incarnations.

Another thought in regards to the junior novel: Consider this analogy. My mom and I both saw Wall-E when she rented it late last year, and for the both of us, it was rather endearing. Now, fast-forward a bit to an occasion where we both were at the store and saw a bunch of little Golden kid's books, an adaptation of Wall-E being among them. We both flipped through it, and while it was still kind of cute... it hardly represented the film at all. At most, it contained the broken-in-half bare bones of the story. We agreed that this version wasn't nearly as endearing.

Now, I know a Junior novel isn't supposed to be THAT ridiculously stripped-down or the like, but still, it's a Junior novel. I can't imagine it being a very accurate rendition of the movie's story at all. Maybe it does confirm some of the changes, true; but I'm betting there's a lot more (good or bad) that it's skipping.

(And no, you don't need to say anything like, "But this movie is already like that watered-down little kid's version of Wall-E." That counter-argument presented itself to me already. >_> )

It has been a while since I saw this thread someone mentioned the junior novel. Is there a specific post in this thread that provides a synopsis of its contents?
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Don't think so, but I can provide an off-forum link to the summaries:

For me, Smallville is one of those rare shows that improve over time, rather than starting strong and going downhill.

Nothing. What's wrong is... this is freakin Dragonball. Son-Freaking-Goku. Heck, Abridged Goku asking Piccolo if he's a Yoshi, then believing his sarcastic response is more in character than Goku (AKA Clark Parker).
Dunno if the movie will be good or not. I'm getting increasingly confident, though, that if I'm satisfied with movie Goku's portrayal, those 2012 predictions will become more believable.

Yeah, to be honest, the portrayal of Goku in this is my main concern at this point. Everything else seems like it could be entertaining.

I guess, if I can just try to get the fact that this guy is meant to be Goku out of my head, then I may well be able to enjoy the movie.... just like Toriyama said!

I guess it's safe to talk about the script, seeing as Fox was retarded enough to release junior novels 2 months before the release.

Anyway the junior novels have the basic gist of the script down. However, like I said, the last names "Bulma Enchanto" and "Chi-Chi McRoberts" were not in the script. As such, if they ARE in the movie, that is FOX's decision and not James Wongs or Ben Ramseys.

Also I heard something about Piccolo having a human form. I haven't read all the summaries so I don't know if this person is just misinformed or not, but in the script he has no human form and I can't imagine it being in the movie. It seems like a huge change to the script for no reason.

Also I think a few things in the junior novel were toned down from the script. Like when Yamcha says "Ow that hurt!" in the junior novel, in the script it is "Ow that burnt my nads!" (lmao). Stuff like that.

Anyway I haven't read all the summaries so I guess I'll do that soon.
