Something I noticed: the junior novel things don't detail what happens to Piccolo, or at least the summary doesn't.

Either way, I still don't like the exclusion of the tails. It pretty much throws away the homage to Journey to the West.

I'd like to rant.

1) Is this a running joke or do you guys seriously think that Vegeta will remain Oozaru? This must be some of you guys' way to wish for the worst, right?

2) The film's looking better than it did at first, to me. It's pretty faithful. I mean, some creative changes I can do without, but other than those unfortunate things, the movie's turning in the right direction.

3) From what I just read from JAPPO's find, a Saiya-Jin having control over itself in Oozaru form is just like being able to revert back to normal, right? So maybe the Primitive Saiya-jin were the ones that Piccolo had along side him, 2000 years ago. Remember, Planet Vegeta explodes 18 years prior to the main events of the movie, correct? I think the Saiya-Jin might have gotten a little smarter in the 1982 years since Piccolo was sealed away, right?

I don't mean to bitch or whine. These are just the things that I've thought of, so far. I'm not on anyone's side.

Stephen Chow is directing a remake of Journey to the West, so you'll get your tails in that. :D

Well all I know is that I think the movie will be very enjoyable and I am going to support it so we can get a sequel. From that point, what will determine if I go into super, anal mode is if they cast somebody ridiculous as Vegeta.

I hope they just cover the first part of the Monkey King story because it gets real boring after the Buddha incarcerates him under the mountain.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Well, the movie is likely loosely based off the English reversion of the anime adaptation of a manga loosely based off Journey to the West. So there's already three or four degrees of separation there, with a few of them taking incredible creative license with the adaptation so if anything in this movie resembles anything from Journey to the West it's probably a complete accident.

Actually, from what I understand, the movie is adapted from the Manga, not the Anime.

That's not a very good argument.

About Saiyans being lead around by Piccolo:
There were compatatively weak saiyans and comparatively strong Namekians. So the idea of Piccolo snatching up one or two or however many Saiyans isn't impossible.

About Namekians being "evil space conquerers, grrr!":
*in a potential sequel, the gang has arrived on planet Namek and they encounter a village of Namekians*
Whoever: "Oh no, Namekians, get ready everyone!"
Namekian: "Welcome, bla bla bla"
Whoever: "You aren't like Piccolo, etc"
Namekian: "Piccolo!? That evil son of a bitch, we banished him from our homeworld ages ago. We aren't all like he was...surely there are both good and evil inhabitants on your planet?"

Basically all I'm getting at here is that what we're reading about certain things in the movie aren't necessarily set in stone and could be danced around in any number of ways.

On another note, everyone, both haters and...not-haters, just need to learn to chill (seriously, this topic looks like it was ripped right from IMDB at times, that's not a good thing).
Keep in mind that you're losing your cool (wether you're for or against the film) over a movie, based on a series that was written by a guy who at a time was best known for writing poop jokes  .

Hey, I don't know if this is old news, but the Australian Greater Union site has Dragon Ball listed as PG for Mild Action Violence.

I have heard of that. I think it also got a PG-12 somewhere in the UK.

I'm very curious as to what the MPAA rates it though.

Yeah... PG doesn't necessarily mean childish, lame movie though.

The first Narnia was PG, so was TMNT.

I'm just a little disappointed.... thought it was finally my chance to contribute something useful. :P

True, it doesn't mean that. It doesn't need to be PG-13 to be good. Rectangles and squares and all that. :3

Its okay. ^^; I haven't been doing anything useful in this thread lately either. All I've been doing is asking questions.

I really hope it's not PG in the US. PG with popular series usually means that there will be many parts that aim more towards younger children and are generally kind of stupid. Besides, I believe Transformers had PG-13, so there's no reason this shouldn't.
GT is underrated and the International Channel will always be my favorite channel for foreign programming. I still miss it.

I think Transformers could have been a PG without some of the sexual humour. There wasn't much violence in it. Also worth noting, it was rated M in Australia.

I forgot about that. I don't think any of that will be in here but maybe the violence can be worse in this than Transformers.

The violence in that film was less than honorable.

When do you think the MPAA rating will be announced?
