Marsters pointed out that the movie is based on "Dragon Ball'' rather than "Dragon Ball Z'' and that his character Lord Piccolo is a powerful, muscular villain rather than a decrepit old man. Another difference, he said, is that the film does not feature Lord Piccolo's superpower ability of dismembering himself.
Kind of odd, his previous interviews always gave me the impression that Lord Piccolo would start out as an old man who wanted the Dragonballs to make him young again. Why are they suddenly revealing a completely other motive and possibly a completely different character?

Now it's best to view "Lord Piccolo" as Piccolo Jr rather than Piccolo Daimao.

It's from Korea maybe they misheard him.

As for the blue hair, I think a compromise between the two may have worked best. Something with blue highlights or the like. I was honestly rooting for blue hair, but looking at that test kind of makes me think that the full-on anime-style blue won't look good.

And no, I don't think that the Live Action Piccolo and Goku look "ridiculous" in the same way that the blue-test Bulma does.

But yeah. I'm pretty sure they went too far in the opposite direction.

Well, Goku was 15 in the Daimao arc, so I guess having him be 17 turning 18 isn't a big deal, I mean, I never thought it was.

I think peoples complaint was that Justin Chatwin is tall and lanky, while Goku was short and stocky. Even during the Ma Junior arc, he is still kinda stocky. I just think for a possible Z sequel, they should seriously have him hit the gym. I mean serious lifting. I'm not saying he has to be Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he should at least be Tobey McGuire in Spiderman 1 size.

But on another note, how are they going to pass off this Oozaru being permanent thing? I mean really. Plus in a sequel, they have to have Vegeta at least. Is it going to be something like "Oh, only Saiyans who have seen a eclipse turn into Oozaru, and Vegeta never did" but what about the whole oozaru Vegeta Goku fight? How are they going to have Vegeta transform and not Goku, since the transformation seems to have nothing to do with a tail. I mean, I have my own ideas as to how to work around it, but I know the writers wont' think of them.

Maybe the whole "Saiyan Elite" thing comes into play, just like the whole Vegeta & Nappa have trained their tails to be immune to that weakness. So they may go for Vegeta saying something like "We Saiyan Elites are far to evolved for us to stay in Oozaru form forever."... :?:

Sequel’s Script Already Written?
February 18th, 2009

Sci-FiNow talked with Justin Chatwin (Goku) who spilled to them that the sequel to Dragonball Evolution has already been written.

Dragonball: Evolution, the first live-action adaptation of the popular manga, hasn’t even hit our screens yet, but the script for a proposed sequel has already been written, according to Justin Chatwin, who plays Goku in the upcoming film.

Speaking to SciFiNow last month, the 26-year-old actor said that he was signed on for potential sequels, and that he was excited about the prospect: “If there were to be a sequel I think it… well, I know that it would go to a really interesting place, because they already have the second script written.” When pressed for details, Chatwin revealed a little more about the direction of the celluloid version of the franchise. “It’s really, really cool. The second one goes more into the whole legacy and the genealogy of Dragonball. It goes more in-depth into a real Dragonball series, the kind of intergalactic world of Dragonball.”

DBthemovie.com was tipped similar information earlier by a trusted scooper. The tentative title for this alleged script was Dragonball Reborn, but of course nothing has been green lit yet.

This is exciting. I have minor details about this script.

I think I see Vegeta on the horizon.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

I'm hoping the possible sequel will focus on the Saiyajin arc. It would be interesting to see the afterlife on screen...
Please let the sequel have little Gohan... X3

"Goes into the intergalactic world" sounds like a Saiyan/Freeza combo of sorts.

What Chatwin Said wrote:...“It’s really, really cool. The second one goes more into the whole legacy and the genealogy of Dragonball. It goes more in-depth into a real Dragonball series, the kind of intergalactic world of Dragonball.”...
What Chatwin MEANT to say wrote: ...“It’s really, really cool. The second steps into the whole grand tour of Dragonball. It goes more in-depth into a Teoi-envisioned Dragonball series, the kind of intergalactic world of Dragonball.”...

...Or they skip right to GT. ;)

That would be over-kill to have Piccolo running around again as the bad-guy. Make him team up with Kakarrot and fight Vegeta and possibly Nappa. Nevertheless, since you have the inside scoop you most likely already know it is going to be Piccolo again.

If Vegeta shows up in the sequel I wonder if they will automatically go with the cropped hair Vegeta or do it in the third installment. That would make it a lot easier for the hair designers or whatever they are called.

I doubt that.

No wonder you're such a big fan of the movie, it must be easy when you obviously don't care for the source material.

And yes, I would expect the producers to know some basic facts about the series they're making an adaptation of. These include character ages. Seriously, how in the world could think you Goku is seven during the Piccolo Daimao fight? Not only is his age stated as fourteen in the very second episode of the series (Yes, it's wrong, but it's enough to ensure that even people who've never seen past the second episode knows that he's not seven), but... well, think about it. The Piccolo Daimao arc takes place four years after the series begins. Did Goku seem like a three year old at the beginning of the series? Did Goku seem ten at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, 15 at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z? It's wonderful that this movie's being produced by people whose knowledge of Dragon Ball seems roughly equal to that of your average soccer mom.

Can we please try and do without these kind of comments? 'Cause judging by the rest of your post, it doesn't seem like you were joking.

Kaiou Samma? :?
Where the heck did that extra M come from?!

I watched the Korean clip on Bura's site; it seemed more like a "Chow Yun Fat is awesome; let's all talk about how awesome he is" conference than a live action movie conference.

I found it hilarious.

Also liked how relaxed Park was; he seems like "a pretty cool guy". :3

I still don't like Chatwin though. :? Would it have killed the guy to play along and do the hand motions for the kamehameha?
On hiatus.
