Dragonball Z unique movie Japanese background music.
I love Shusuke Kikuchi score and I love how each movie has a new set of bgm that kikuchi personally created. I love how after the movie is released, 10-15 episodes, they add the movie score into the series.
My top 6 movie soundtrack I would select because I would constantly hear it.
Movie 1 = The score been use so much that its just so awesome. They made the second Shenglong theme and one of the bgm that is use when Garlic Jr uses the deadzone is famous for the scene when Goku turn SSJ for the first time. This soundtrack appeared in the series at ep 21 when Vegeta and Nappa arrived on earth.
Movie 2 = Not as memorable, but still good, it was used constantly during the first half of Freeza, they started using it on the episode when Freeza and his men started terrorizing Dende's village.
Movie 3 = The movie is famous for it's music which is constantly use when the situation is bad. In the movie it was use when the tree was shown and also it famous for giving the genki-dama it's own theme and the same song was use when Gohan turn to SSJ in the room of spirit and time. Episode 66 is when that soundtrack firsted used when Goku first arrived in Namek
Movie 4 = That sound track was first used in the series at ep 97. Possibly my favorite soundtrack as it famous, especially the one music that is famous for being use when Goku turn SSJ 3. The music is so unique and fill with intensity.
Movie 5 = This music if famous for having a very Spanish feel, the songs are really catchy and used really well on the fight scenes. First used when Trunks turn SSJ and kill Freeza.
Movie 6 = This is the music that I always associate with the Artifical Human saga, it's the music that gave the Cell saga a unique robotic feel which is constantly used in that particular part of the series. First used when Kami and Piccolo fused and confront Cell.
Movie 7 = That's when the series reaches a point where the music sound different and have a more modern feel which in my opinion is Good. I always associate movie 7-12 to the Buu saga of course one particular song I love is the one where Goku teleported Cell and died and you see everyone reacting to his death which that music enhances the mood and also the same song was used when Vegeta was about to die against Majin Buu.
Movie 8 = I call this the Broly soundtrack, because Broly has this unique theme that appeared a lot in all 3 movies. It also what gave the 200s it's own personality as it was firsted used right when Gohan kills Cell.
Movie 9 = The soundtrack is more lighthearted and its very emotional as it also gave a famous sad theme which was used when Vegeta hugs Trunks before his death. The music is when the music reached it's peak. and the movies after, to me aren't as memoriable. Their more use of the guitar in that music too if I notice. The bgm was added to the series at ep 200 which is the beginning of the Buu saga.
Movie 10 = The soundtrack had some good songs and it mostly remixes of the Broly theme on movie 8.
Movie 11 = Same as above.
Movie 12 = More memoriable as it has the famous Gogeta theme, they also reuse one of the songs from movie 9 in the beginning. The songs are more comidical and lighthearted.
Movie 13 = This is when Kikuchi score made a unique and awesome bgm that can only come from this particular movie. The famous Tapion theme which was use constanlty in different ways. I love that song and it's one of the reasons why movie 13 is among my favorites.
I hope you have it, notice there are no threads that discusses the famous bgm of the japanese score and how each movie has it's own score that is separate from the series and then it eventually found it's way to the series.

The Dead Zone soundtrack was actually first used in episode 19. That's the first time they used Dead Zone's Shenron theme.
And on YouTube, they have the first 9 Movie soundtracks:

I love that song, but I still haven't been able to find out the name of it. Are you sure that It's used in movie 5? I watched that movie with the Japanese music and don't remember hearing it, and I'm sure I would have caught it. If it's on there, I could check the credits and find the name of the song.rzerox21xx wrote:

I'm looking at the DBZ episode guide and it was episode 21 when they summon Shenlong and revive Goku. Episode 19 is when Goku try to catch Bubbles. I remember it because it was one of the episodes done by the animation director Miruno Maeda(His style is so good and he did the first half of the movies while the second was Todayashi Yagumuro).
Despite my love for movie 13 bgm, it wasn't as memoriable snice the bgm was barely used in the series which is no question about it snice the movie was made when the series was ending. I recall one of the Tapion themes being use once in the Boudakai when Goku fights Ubuu.

Hotrod, I think that song you were talking about is the theme that was used once when Trunks turn SSJ. I mean't that the Movie 5 bgm was first used in the episode when Trunks turn SSJ and kill Freeza. Not in that scene. The song you were talking about is Battlepoint unlimited, I think, I could be mistaken by the name. One of the movie 5 bgm was constantly use when the artifical humans first appeared, it was use when Cooler was transforming. It gives the series a very future Terminatorish feel which was great in that particular saga.
I like that song, the on you're talking about, but it was used WAY too much. Another song that they used too much in the wrong scenes during the Cell Games was the theme from the beginning of Movie 7 that plays when Androids 14 & 15 are running walking through the city and the mall. It always felt so out of place for some of the scenes they used it for, like when Gohan fired the Super Kamehameha at Cell (not the Father-son one, the one where he owned him).
One of my favorite themes, though, is the song from Movie 8, the one that's at the end of the link I posted. Just fast-paced, and fun. I also love the theme from Movie 6 that plays when all of the Metal Coolers appear and run towards Goku and Vegeta. It's another Terminator-esque theme.

The one with the bells, right? Yeah, I love that one too. Wasn't it also used for Gogeta in Movie 12?

You are correct, I was mistaken. I thought you meant the specific scene where Trunks turns SSJ. After watching the link jjgp posted I now know what you're referring to.rzerox21xx wrote:Hotrod, I think that song you were talking about is the theme that was used once when Trunks turn SSJ. And thank you for providing me the correct name of the song. Believe it or not I had a hard time finding out the name of it.

This is what I'm talking about, listen to the music when Vegeta makes his entrance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUW9pLSSS0M
this one in movie 9 uses a remix to it which in my opinion is better I think.

This is what I was referring to. I know it may not be all that likeable, but I guess I just associate it with my favorite character, Trunks, and it just sounds awesome to me. Thank you.rzerox21xx wrote:This is the song for you hotrod.

Would this page make it easier for you guys to identify some of the pieces?
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.
The Japanese score is always above average, I do agree that some of the pieces were wrongly placed on rare occassions or over used at times, but it's never too noticable.
I used to play the tracks while playing the PS2 fighting games, goes well with the fights.

The song was was used in movie 13 a total of six times... and yet has not been released on an official CD.Puto wrote:Tapion's theme was used on the first Oob episode at the very end of DBZ.rzerox21xx wrote: Movie 13 = This is when Kikuchi score made a unique and awesome bgm that can only come from this particular movie. I also recently found out that Tapion's Theme was used as the tune for one of Porta's (ya, that guy) rap songs.
