Can Movie 9 be considered canon snice it can take place.
I watched movie 9 and that movie could take place in the canon if Toriyama wanted to with no problem. The movie resolved Vegeta never fight again subplot which was ignore in Buu and Trunks in the ending of Episode 194 was about to visit that timeline. If there was any inconsistency to the plot I would say Trunk's hair snice it was short in the beginning of 194 but it could be easily taken care of for the story to taken place after a year or so.
Movie 13 could be considered canon, just that Tapion sword is not the same sword Future Trunks has.

Well what about Gohan not being able to go Super Saiyan 2 right out the gate?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.
If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.
If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.

Not too far-fetched, considering he STILL needed an extra kick in the pants to do it seven years later.Chrono Trigger wrote:Well what about Gohan not being able to go Super Saiyan 2 right out the gate?

Well if you hold to the Daizenshuu Movie #9 is not in the timeline.rzerox21xx wrote:I watched movie 9 and that movie could take place in the canon if Toriyama wanted to with no problem. The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Well, I much rather have movie 9 be added to the anime canon than movie 1 with that Garlic jr saga. The movies have cute character moments that I wish made it to the series like The mall scene in movie 7 ruled and the tourament in 9 was fun to watch. 12 was so much enjoyable with the scenes of the dead coming to life and seeing Goten and Trunks fight Hitler. Movie 13 has cute character moments with Trunks and it's the first and only time you see Vegeta protect innocent civilians.

Yeah, but it works better than what the daizenshuu holds as canon.Saiyan-Professor wrote:Well if you hold to the Daizenshuu Movie #9 is not in the timeline.rzerox21xx wrote:I watched movie 9 and that movie could take place in the canon if Toriyama wanted to with no problem. Plus the narration in the manga that makes it impossible for #9 to take place isn't in the anime (supposedly; I don't have that season on DVD), so there's nothing to say it can't be part of the anime's continuity. Since at least 8 months have to pass (from Trunks' perspective) between the death of the future androids and movie 9, even the hair isn't problematic.

Personal canon can be anything really. If you don't see any reason not to consider it canon, then that's fine.
For me the only time canon is an important issue is when we're trying to decide things like how Super Saiyajin transformations work (that is, what kind of boost they give, what benefits you get from training in them, etc). We look at the evidence from both the manga and the anime, but I'm usually most interested in the manga because I'm trying to get inside Mr Toriyama's head, wondering what he thought when he wrote it.
