When a character you like does something dumb, it's the author's fault. When a character you dislike does something dumb, it's because they're dumb. Duh. :D
I like Goku to be honest. But you are correct, since I just barely like Goku.
Piccolo should be on the top of my list.

Yeah, two smart tricks of Goku there. With that logic it's like saying that Krillin is the God of techniques and fighting after using his energy beam on the Saibamen, his Kienzan on Nappa, his multiple Kienzan attack on Freeza, and his Taioken on Dodoria.
No more time for Daizex. Goodbye folks!

Like his Shunkan-idou Kamehameha against Cell. And his better plan was to throw out Gohan to act as a punching bag until he maybe got angry.
Technically Goku had been planning to send Gohan out at least a week before the Cell games started. He just went first for fun and to see how he measured up. Actually, the Gohan one is one of the only battles where his long term plan turned out to work. You know, minus his own death I mean.

I just look back at all of Goku's own fights, and can't think of many where he had a plan from the beginning that worked. Then again, that's normal in fiction, isn't it? It would be boring if everything went to plan.

Kuririn has proven himself to be incredibly resourceful too. Just surviving as long as he did on Namek was impressive.

Cell's regeneration comes from Piccolo, and Piccolo can't regenerate if his head's gone. :P

I personally feel that since Cell is all about *evolving* that his body apparently found the secret to the ability and he no longer needs his head to be intact to be able to regenerate.
I dislike you intensely.(probably)

He got regeneration from Piccolo, right? If Piccolo hasn't learned this secret after all these years, then he isn't as genius as well all think. There is no secret. Cell might just have something extra in him that allows him to regenerate no matter what.

Except he outright states the core that allows him to regenerate is in his head.

I think it was also mentioned that he could regenerate from any cell even if his core's blown up, but if his body's destroyed, he needs his core to keep regenerating.

All he needs is for one cell to survive, and he can regenerate. His body took Piccolo's ability and basically expanded upon it ten fold.

Isn't that a dub explanation?

Basically, the one time the dub makes more sense than the source material?

It's been a lot more than once. The dub has expressed emotions, character reactions and moods of scenes better than the original in some instances. Take Trunks' death by Perfect Cell as an example.

Oh Ho Ho Ho let the shitstorm commence. I would love to fucking sit here and have a LONG 500 post debate about THAT one but that really isn't what this topic is about. I guess I can sum it up in a British drive by.

In Japanese he explicitly states that he can regenerate from anything so long as his core survives. I don't think he ever says anything about regenerating from a single cell.

Now that you mention it, the dub also came up with a logical explanation as to why Cell was in his perfect form without Android 18 - his nucleus "remembered' the structure of his perfect form, so if he needed to regenerate his whole body, he we would brought back in his Perfect form.

Then what was the original reason? He just happened to regain perfection?

Pretty much. Neither the manga nor the anime explained why he was still Perfect.

And Funi's explanation seems to be universally accepted, because Mike even uses that as his explanation in the Transformations guide.

For a while I was convinced that Cell was able to return to his perfect form, because when he blew himself up, it mixed him with Goku, basically absorbing him and gaining his power.

Thinking about it now, it seems retarded. :?

Funi sort of used that to explain why he was able to learn Instant Transmission.
