So I hear Stephen Chow isn't too pleased with FOX and isn't agreeing to be on any promo tour. Oh Jeeze.

I heard about that; something like he wasn't able to get as involved as he wanted because of being in the position of "producer" instead of "director".

I don't really have a source though; just stuff I've come across on the other board.

Dragonball is on Entertainment Weekly's top 17 anticipated movies of spring 2009 list.

I'll admit I never read anything on EW before

LOL, their write-up shows they know DragonBall. For reals

Not sure what (or who) a Dragonball is? You might have missed the cult manga comics that have already spawned hit animated TV shows in the U.S. and Japan. But this live-action adaptation — about a group of warriors protecting Earth from an evil force — should catch you up.

Not everyone thinks about Dragonball 90% of the time like many of us here, they are just doing their job and strangely enough, many of us that are thoroughly acquainted with the show and manga do want to see it.

This sounds like a nice little bump until you look at the list.

I think a more appropriate title would be "17 movies we're pretty sure are coming out in the next six weeks".

Irate Gamer had it as #2 on his list of ten best movies this summer, which lowered my expectations of the movie even further.

Watchmen was #8. Seriously? You think Evolution will be better then Watchmen? Neither movie is even being released in the summer either!

I'd say most people who are undecided when going to the movie theater will think "Hey Dragonball, I watched that as a kid so I'll go see that!" and "What the fuck is a Watchmen?" so I anticipate Dragonball doing better.

It's a top ten list. Even if it's the worst goddamn list you've ever seen, you want to see it through to the end.

Watchmen will most likely do better because it generally looks better, IMO. I hear people just eating it up in passing.

Though, the same may happen with DBE when we start getting TV ads for it.

I'd never heard of it either, until I saw the trailer and commercials. I think it looks pretty cool.

And apparently, the comic/novel/whatever it is based on is pretty cool, too. If the movie is good, I might dip my fingers in the comics.
