IGN finally put up the old teaser trailer, with an intro from James Marsters.

Does anybody have a clue as to what that was all about?
"Look at me! I'm Justin Chatwin! I'm an actor! Hire me for movies!"

I have to admit I cracked a smile when he was standing on the back of that moving vehicle in that silly pose. ^^;;;

Eh, I'm not saying someone would leak the entire contents of the movie, but (especially approaching days before the Japanese release) typically people would hint at seeing something.

But her blog is in Japanese! And as we know:

Besides, all she says is there was going to be a screening. It doesn't state if this was a screening for critics, the press or simply the cast and executives at Fox. If you'd like to share sources though, I'd gladly retract my statements.

Why's it listed among movies that are already out in theaters? (I know at least two of those listed there are out).

I browsed through Jappo's boards and found the other shots of that pamplet. It's for movies in general that are in theaters in April, so I get it now.

I've made a surprising revelation about the Namekians in this movie:

Remember when Son Goku first met Kami-sama and thought that he was just like Daimao(Evil)? Maybe Roshi and the other people who told Son Goku("Chatku") that the Namekians were evil may have only dealt with Daimao and his evil minions and/or spawns? Since none of them have been on Namek(Yet), they don't know that their are peace-loving Namekians on Namek, right? This can work very well for the sequel. It's extremely close to what Toriyama did.

NOTE: I also thought of this: Since they obviously can't fit all of the "Dragonball History" into three or more movies, don't you guys think that there should be either an anime or manga-like tie-in, to fill in gaps?

A well-known movie theater in Holland states it at 100 minutes as well...

So was I apparently because I had pretty much the exact same thought about the treatment of Namekians in the movies a few pages back :P .

It is not because of you two.

It is simply because there is no love for Namekians.

Just because nobody replied doesn't mean you were ignored. I read things on here all the time, say "hmm..." to myself and don't comment.

Reading (and cringing) through the junior novel and I finally hit a line that amused me.

Bulma: "Maybe I like bad men."
*Cue mental image of Vegeta in the shirt. X3

Still a vaguely painful read; even for someone like me who enjoys non-canon fics.

So, Chuq. Now that you have a more detailed idea on what Chatku's like thanks to the junior novel, what are your thoughts on the movie's version of Goku?

Well, I haven't finished reading yet (I'm reading along with the posted scans of the novel, they're up to page 131 of 152) but not much has really changed. Whenever I find something good it ends up being overshadowed by half a dozen things I find bad and out of character. :(

Maybe when I finish the novel I'll make a list of "good" and "bad" stuff related to Goku to add to this thread.

The best sentence of dialogue I've heard from him so far that made me want to say "Where the hell was THAT Son Goku for the past 100 or so pages!?" is on pg 123 where it goes like this:

Goku stood. He faced Piccolo. "My name is Goku, and I'm here to destroy you."

That one made me go "YES!" X3

I still think that Chatku's way too worried about appearances, has too many issues learning how to harness his ki, and much too horny to be Goku. (He can't get his ki blasts to work for him until Chi-Chi bribes him with affection?).

Also on a similar note, I found him giving up and going to try and light one of the lamp posts using the one that was already lit (and which Chi-Chi calls him on it being) cheating to be unlike Goku. It's like the opposite of that part of the manga where he almost goes to steal the water from Korin while Korin's asleep, but decides not to because he doesn't want to cheat.

Also, Goku knows who Thomas Edison is? And this takes place in the 22nd Century? "B.C.E."
Not to mention all the "DBE" gags they've got now that they've retitled the Dragon Radar that. They're not clever, they make me cringe.

On a positive note, I'm enjoying Useful!Yamcha in this. Not only does Yamcha actually succeed when he attempts his plans in this (so far; I still have 20 pages to go) but he's not striking out with Bulma at all.

I'd imagine it'd be harder for her to fall for Vegeta when she's got a Yamcha like this around.
