On a slightly more serious note, the acting is far worse than I ever anticipated. And that's saying something. I found Yun-fat to be pretty cringe-worthy in Bulletproof Monk, but I guess I should have just been thankful he never tried to pull off anger.

A more nit-picky criticism... C'mon Enchanto... You just got blown over, thrown back several feet and knocked through a wall (half a wall? pile of junk? something?)... shouldn't you be experiencing something other than mild frustration?

Ah yes, I fondly remember the volumes where Goku and Samwise Gamgee destroyed the One Ring...you know, in between studying for their midterms at Smallville High ;p

So, THAT'S why Shenlong grants wishes. He's happy.

I knew I couldn't make that joke work. It would've been too ambiguous or too obvious.

Fondling Dragon Balls.
Shenlong is a dragon.

This is the second time that I've killed a joke that could have kept on going. Sorry, B. :D :) :(

I'm totally getting that "campy-60's-Batman-Sitcom-with-today's-special-effects" feel from these clips, and I like that. :3
For PG, it works.

Chatku's voice actually is decent enough, but the lines he's fed aren't doing a thing for me. Also I'm not used to matrix-y db fights. They feel slow to me.
On hiatus.

You really can't blame the movie for something like that...

Her name isn't Enchanto.

Not in the movies, though. At least, they don't call her Enchanto in the movie, according to the Ben Ramsey.

Rossum's Bulma will always be Enchanto to me. Agent Enchanto. With her lovely laser-sighted pistols and transforming ATV.

The email VEGETA DTX sent is... painful.
He is either very stupid or a massive troll.

A 20-something? Less driven by sex drive? Aha!
JAPPO wrote:I want to read negative reviews, just not from no-name sites who compare it to Watchmen and haven't read or seen the source material.
How relevant is the source material here, though? Not that I care about or even read the “review” (skimming, it looks like bullshit, so it probably is), but familiarity with previous versions of DB hardly seems like a prerequisite for this movie review given the liberties taken therein.

By the same token, would the (rather faithful) animé adaptation of Dragon Ball not also cheapen the experience for you? Isn’t part of the fun of seeing an adaptation experiencing a known story in a new way… as opposed to experiencing a completely different story instead?

I've got to agree. That'd be like saying that a competent English dub of a series isn't going to be as enjoyable as one that completely rewrites the dialogue, simply because you know what is going to be said. Every new medium doesn't need to "reinvent" the series from scratch.

I find it funny how Bulma wasn't that affected by being knocked down like that, and Chatwin/Goku being real casual about what he just did to her.

It's silly, but it feels Dragon Ball silly.

And the acting is looking hammy and over the top, but trust me, that will be a good thing when we're in later movies watching "FREEEEEEEEEEZAAAAAA!!!!"

Roshi vs. Goku. Sweet.
Ugh-uh. Is this supposed to be Dragonball? This movie should've been named... Hollywood Action with Dragonball names.

I don't think I'm gonna like this movie.

Goku's not Korean, which he should be.
