Roshi vs. Goku. Sweet.
Ugh-uh. Is this supposed to be Dragonball? This movie should've been named... Hollywood Action with Dragonball names.
Yeah...about that. No, this isn't supposed to be Dragonball. It's Dragonball Evolution: One of the better adaptions of the series.

If it's not supposed to be Dragon Ball, then why call it Dragon Ball? Why not have it be "any other Hollywood action movie", as sangofe said? We don't need an adaptation of Dragon Ball. It's fine as it is. Just sayin'..

Can we not do this same pointless back-and-forth again? It's a new DragonBall continuity/story heavily based on the original manga. That's all there is to it.

I don't want to go back and forth. I'm just saying that it's time for something new. And others don't like that. But oh well, no one's gonna change anyone's opinion by arguing.

Yeah, and not everyone is going to like the idea of that. I don't see why it has to be an argument though. There was no hostility in my post, I was just making a point.

Yes but at the same time some people are going to like the idea of that. So your point goes both ways.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.

Well that was ridiculously obvious...(after all, I have been reading this thread.)

I know that I haven't really been too keen on this movie idea, but I have been keeping up with the thread and following the news to give it a fair chance. I really would like for it to turn out to be something I can enjoy. :P

"This cannot be happening!"

What's that suppose to mean? Gokû trained with Gohan, who was trained by Rôshi, so he knows Rôshi is tough. We also know Son and Gohan trained together, doing incredible stuff. Why would he be surprised by this sort of martial arts? Does he mean it as "How can this happen to me?" as if he were Vegeta? No, that cannot be, for he isn't Vegeta nor would Son be likely to say it as he did. It's terrible writing, I'd say.

You're bashing lines that barely mean anything. Son Goku must have said that for one of two reasons:

1: He is attacked twice in the same day by an intruder in his own house.

2. He can't believe that these crazy events are happening, all of a sudden. Ya know, his grandfather is killed by an alien, some crazy blue-haired chick invades his territory, on a search for balls, and now some old geezer is picking a fight with him.

If I were Son, I'd say the same.

I'm not bashing at all, I'm pointing out an out of character element.

I mean, what would I know, I'm just comparing him to the guy who's reputation he's muckin' with.

Apparently, in that scene, Goku doesn't know that the "old Beggar" is actually Master Roshi, which explains why he is so surprised at getting a**kicked

Where are Roshi's shades? They defined who he was.

I'm boycotting this movie.

Which anime character is depicted on Roshi's sweater?

If I had to guess, they don't know each other yet. Like the first Yoda meeting, he probably withheld his identity. So some random dude he just met is dishing out moves that he practiced with his Grandpa, but better.

Not to mention, it's probably hard for him to believe that a dude Roshi's age was the master of his very elderly Grandfather.

Reading your post again, that makes the most sense.

But if it turns out that is not the case, and he knows it's Roshi and still utters that bastardizing line, I'm burning down Hollywood.

I'm going to go see Watchmen today and keep a lookout for promotional posters on the walls. It's coming close to the time we should see a LITTLE bit of outside-the-internet advertising.

I'd actually consider buying that poster, it's pretty damn sweet looking. Saw it when I went to see Coraline.
