Remastered Dragonball Z sets R2?

Post by saiyanprincess » Sat Mar 07, 2009 5:10 pm

I have been trawling over the internet for the remastered DBZ sets, And I seem to be getting a mixed response with the new remastered Dragonball Z DVD sets from Funimation. Most sites imply that these sets play on Region 1 , 2 and 4 DVD players whilst a few websites just state Region 1.

Amazon is one which leaves me confused, It states Region one, but a reviewer says that it plays on their Region two player. The majority of the other sites claim that these discs are able to play on them all without a multi-region player.

Does anybody who owns the boxsets know for certain before I go and import them from the Funimation website? I want to double-check as last time I got counterfeits from Ebay. :? I also don't want to get DVD's I can't play properly on my players.

Thanks so much everybody!

I think the Season Sets are Regions 1, 2 and 4 and the Double Features are Region 1 only (you can play it on your computer though).

I can confirm this because I'm from England. :)

The Nappa image on the back of the box set, where his thumb is in the foreground and looks like a penis?

I don't see it. What?

Yes they do, however the Movie double features (and One Piece boxsets) have 1, 2 and 4 written on the sets but they don't work for region 2.

Thanks for the pre-warning! I have however already got the movies and the specials, with the exception of movie 13 and the new special. I'm not sure if I'm going to be investing in the remastered movies as of yet, I will have to work a little more overtime for that.

Hehe! Nappa is a BADBOY!

It's stuff like this that makes me glad that I have region-free home and portable DVD players. :P

I don't have a NTSC television, but rather a PAL one, so can I play the DVDs in a computer?

Yeah I would have thought so, Once mine arrives I will let you know by trying it out on my laptop. I guess it would not make any difference if it is region 1,2, and 4.
With reference to your television, Just make sure you double-check your dvd player and your television manual. If it says 'Pal' but has 'NTSC Playback' then you can likely play them.

Alternativly just buy a cheap Region 1 Dvd on Ebay (I purchased Knocked up for 99p free P+P a few days ago!) It can be a useful trial to see if your TV has NTSC playback. - Just make sure the DVD player is multi-regional.

Good luck! If you PM me and remind me, I will try them out as soon as they arrive. :P

I already bought the Season One set, it just hasn't arrived yet. If I can't play it on the computer, it was a waste of money. :?

That's strange. The sets are definitely Regions 1, 2 and 4. What country are you in?

I think it's the NTSC that's the problem, not the region coding.

I guess. But I'm sure all PC moniters can play anything you throw at it, they're not like TV's; it doesn't matter if it's PAL, NTSC or whatever. Plus even if the region is a problem, you could always get AnyDVD from Bittorr... I've said enough. :)

Exactly. But if it works on the computer, that is good enough.
