Well he's called 'Ma Junior' in Japanese, I suppose Piccolo Jr. is half correct...

I think the whole Piccolo calling him the reincarnation of Piccolo-Daimao is to strike FEAR into the hearts of the humans and to seem like a biblical bastard.
Well Piccolo himself does call himself a reincarnation of sorts.

Justin Chatwin responded to someone on his YouTube channel, said he wasn't nervous because he liked the movie and when he gets to Japan he'll film the sequel to "the hongkonger" called "the japaner."

It was weird to hear him say "dragonball."
I guess Tony Hawk was the only one extreme enough to promote the movie. :P

But this just goes to show you who the intended audience is… (tweens?)

Where is that comment? I couldn’t find it. All I could find was VEGETADTX SPAMing up the page with more anti-movie nonsense. The video doesn’t even have anything to do with Dragonball. Can’t he just leave the poor crew alone?

You know, I think Emmy Rossum - despite the mostly lack of blue hair - will be a good Bulma. Chatwin's Goku I'm not so sure about, but he seems like he's a nice guy; I won't hate him simply for playing Goku how the script wrote him.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
The term "Majunior" is used in the dub, as well. Piccolo used this name in both of the tournaments that he attended.

DTX spammed up Chatwin's page?! That's rude. :(
You'd think he'd have learned his lesson after Ramsey gave him a text-induced tongue lashing.

I watched the episode of LOST he guest starred in (because I haven't seen that episode since it aired on TV--man I forgot I miss Charlie. TT_TT ) and now I totally get why the "end this" line sounds the way it does; that's just his style of acting.

I'm still torn.

At first I was a bit upset with Chatwin in relation to this movie, but then I realized, what he's doing this is just his job. He reads what's on the script.
So I got upset with the writer instead, but then I remembered the whole Kevin Smith and Superman thing, so then I thought, well, maybe its not entirely Ramsey's fault either.

I've decided that if the entire thing does turn out to be awful, I'm blaming, for the most part, Wong and whoever's the 'head cha la' of this orchestration.

It was okay! I don't care what you bastards think! :x

The ending was shit, though. I mean, c'mon. Closeau? Getting married? :|

It was actually my dad who wanted to see it...

Well, sort of...

Oh, wow. I didn't even remember his role in that episode. As much as I love Lost, if I can't remember his role but can even remember Robert "Mr. T-1000" Patrick's 1 minute cameo in Season 1...that doesn't bode well.

Thinking back now, he did seem rather....monotonal.

I laughed when he responded to Locke in one scene by saying "Cool."
Its gonna take me a while to start taking that word seriously again.

But yeah, I forgot what his acting was like too. For the life of me I can barely remember him in War of the Worlds. ^^;;;

Chatwin's in the 3rd episode of Season 3. "Further Instructions" its called.
He plays a guy named Eddie.

Who? VEGETADTX?

Well, that’s about all he does, unfortunately, but I’m kind of in agreement with you. The hongkonger shows that he can be lighthearted and silly. He even comes off “empty-headed” onscreen, intentionally or not, which obviously works for Gokū. And I mean, the guy read all of Dragon Ball and Journey to the West in preparation for the role. So, I don’t think he’s incapable of giving us a proper Gokū… but that character simply doesn’t exist in the script, and from the looks of it Wong probably didn’t require anything other than a surface coverage of that material anyway.
So I got upset with the writer instead, but then I remembered the whole Kevin Smith and Superman thing, so then I thought, well, maybe its not entirely Ramsey's fault either.
Well, you can’t blame the guy for wanting to make money, and producing something that dances to Hollywood’s fiddle as a result. But you can blame him for attempting to adapt something he was completely unfamiliar with, and not even trying to retain any kind of semblance to the source.

Although, it’s Wong that deserves the most heat; it was his version of the script that was produced and as the director as well he had ample opportunity to improve on Ramsey’s version. Ramsey is hardly more than a screen credit at this point; he was merely the launching point for everything else that followed.

FOX, of course, is not blameless either, but if the writers and directors don’t make a case for a faithful adaptation, does one really condemn them for not giving it a second thought? The returns are much more important to them (ostensibly; the flimsy advertising seems to suggest that they disvalue even that, but alas, FOX eludes me as a company).

So it is, basically, the fault of many, many people and their various stumbles or a combination of:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... tDidntCare
and
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... heResearch .
It usually isn't just all on one guy when these situations occur.

I can't fully judge the resulting film yet (because its not out as I type this) but I can't help but have that feeling that they could've done certain things better. I'm not talking about aesthetics either, I mean in terms of characterization and plotline. (I'm looking at you, Piccolo-who-knows-Goku-is-Kakarrotto-even-though-Piccolo's-been-trapped-for-2000-years-in-this-film)

Um. Is it that hard to believe Piccolo can sense Saiyans? He's been around them before.

It's not that he can tell that Goku is a saiyajin, but its that he knows Goku's saiyajin name.

How would Piccolo know Goku's saiyajin name is Kakarrotto if he's been trapped long before Goku was even born?
