Best Buy: 50% Off Entire Stock of Anime
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I picked up Full Metal Alchemist, Fruit Baskets, Baki the Grappler, and Haruhi Suzumiya. I'm going back on Friday for Guyver, and a few others.

I am seething with jealousy, No fair! I have got to pay over $30 a season, Then I have to pay $10 shipping for one item and $2 each other item (If I purchase at the same time)
I am as green as a Namekian with envy.

It's so weird that the closest Best Buy to me is in on this. I mean, they just opened a few months ago...
So far, I've picked up the second One Piece box set. Hopefully I'll be able to stock up on the DBZ season sets before they're gone. Also hoping to find the third OP box set, too, but I might have to go further for that one.

I was ready to get DBZ seasons 7/8 and whatever I could get of GT because I saw them earlier in the week, but they were out, unfortunately. Oh well...I was going to get the first 6 movies but I decided to wait a while before I get those.
I still picked up School Rumble 2-2, One Piece 1-2, and 4 volumes of Lucky Star though.

I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.
That's the whole point. The little stores are dropping their anime and will only carry the more recent big releases. Big stores will stay as-is.laserkid wrote:Geeeeeze thats odd. My local, well stocked Best Buy (Englewood CO) isnt on there, but the less anime stocked store by my folks (Parker CO) IS. Guess I'll be making a trek!

I've been going frequently as the mood strikes, and I've picked up a bunch of shit: GT Season 2, Yu Yu Hakusho Seasons 1-4, OP Second Voyage. I went today because I was going to buy the 1st Death Note Box, but there was pretty much nothing left; I think there were like 5 Peach Girl DVD's and and couple things I've never heard, but basically that aisle looks deserted.
Can't do that anymore. Wal-Mart got wise onto people doing that and now requires that you have a receipt. They started enforcing this at the beginning of the year.MajinVejitaXV wrote: That's why you buy it again at Best Buy, then go straight to Wal-Mart with that sealed copy and go, "I'd like to make a return."

That's also not legal, btw, as it's considered fraud.

In Big Momma's case, there is a reciept.Tsukento wrote:Can't do that anymore. Wal-Mart got wise onto people doing that and now requires that you have a receipt. Even with the receipt, they couldn't take it back. Since I had already opened the set(I had to watch the GT Special, as I had never seen it) they couldn't take it back. The lady said it was for "Copyright reasons."
Anyway, back on topic...
I met a friend of mine at Best Buy who worked there, and he told me that Dragonball items were going fast. I don't know what its like where you guys are, but if you haven't made it to a Best Buy yet, I suggest you hurry! (Mine had an entire row before, when I went yesterday, we had, like, 3 sub sections.)
I picked up One Piece: Second Voyage as well, and I must say, it is an excellent dub. I don't even feel a need to watch the original this time because the dub is so accurate! I've been meaning to start OP from the beginning for awhile now, and I'm liking it!(The BGM especially...it's so..."adventurous!")Milton wrote:It's so weird that the closest Best Buy to me is in on this. Not to be a jerk, but it's perfectly legal. You are returning a legitimate, factory-sealed item with a receipt. They don't care.Tsukento wrote:That's also not legal, btw, as it's considered fraud.
Now, if I said shrink-wrap the set and return it...yes, that'd be fraud.
You're missing the point. Yeah, you can't take back your opened set. No retailer will take back an opened game/movie/etc. because of fears of piracy. However, if you basically go to Best Buy and buy another copy, take it to Wal-Mart without opening it and show them your original Wal-Mart receipt and request a return, they'll grant it. It's perfectly legal, you're returning a new item that's 100% identical to the one you bought.Big Momma wrote:Even with the receipt, they couldn't take it back. You would also have to remove the stickers that Best Buy puts on all of their stuff.MajinVejitaXV wrote:Not to be a jerk, but it's perfectly legal. Why do retailers insist on putting stickers on the sleeves of CDs/DVDs/Games? it ruins the effect of having a sleeve and is a pain to take of without ripping something off.

50 episodes of YYH, for 27 dollars. I think I did pretty well.
