I'm going to have to go look up that Season 3 Kuririn's "hear my howl" Porunga summoning dub scene to compare to Chatku's "test of seven".

You know, to see how they stack up against each other.

Also they are the ones that decided the the characters shouldn't look at all like there game counterparts, because well all know, that's what made the JCVD Street Fighter bad
They also had a hand in the JCVD Street Fighter, saying all the characters from the arcade games had to be in it. But Ken and Ryu being side characters, and that whole weird military plot...

Well the reviews are tricking in and it's pretty much confirmed that the movie is pretty much awful. From the sound of things the movie isn't even funny bad, which means that it's just sucks. I tried to be optimistic about the whole thing and I kept saying "It can't be THAT bad" but it looks like I was wrong. I honestly don't see how anyone could remain optimistic at this point. I think the most disappointing thing about this whole mess is that if it had fallen into the hands of a better company it really could have turned out great. Now we'll probably never have a respectable Dragon Ball movie. Though looking at it now it's probably for the best. Is there anything else Dragon Ball related to look forward too now? :?

I've seen the movie Showgirls. And numerous pornographic films. But I repeat myself ;p

I think that somewhat solidifies my ability to judge "terrible movies" and "terrible acting."

I agree with 'another company could have done a respectable job'.
Such bad luck...I'd have enjoyed a PG-13 high-intensity battle scene with ki blasts that look like ki blasts and an in-character Son Goku.

There's still Kai...

Please cite these reviews. Are they official reviews or just fan reviews?

Well it looks like the live action movie saga is finally wrapping up. Has this whole ordeal gotten anybody else in the mood to watch the old Chinese movie and this one back to back? I think your mind might explode if you tried to do that.

You know there was a time where I thought there was no way it could be worse that "The Magic Begins" but shit it's looking like it could be. At least with that movie you could understand why it was bad because of the time it was made and stuff but Evolution has no excuse. They had a 100 million dollars budget. Make that shit work.

Hey, don't be so hasty. A lot or most of us still have almost a whole month to go before we get to see it for ourselves.

At this rate I suspect I'll still get a kick out of it, but it'll be at a rather shallow level. Not a "laughable" one, but more like a "yeah, that was pretty cool, but not much else," y'know?

It's a shame that a lot of the aspects I was looking forward to seem to have been either shortened or omitted. I wonder just how many potentially good parts were left on the cutting room floor.

I think he is talking about “Atthemovies” type stuff, news papers, etc., big names not something someone threw together online.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

That thread does appear to reference at least one actual news publication.

I'm wondering if a directors cut or something of the like might make this movie a little better. Regardless I think once this movie becomes a few years older, all the hype dies down and it possibly spawns a sequel or two I might look at it in a different light like I did with Phantom Menace. When all the hubub died down about that movie I could enjoy and accept it for what it was. A slightly goofy somewhat campy sci-fi movie that was just cheesy enough to be charming. Was I pissed off when it was released? Hell yeah I was, all of that waiting for virtually nothing. But rewatching it with lower expectations really helped me appreciate it. (It also helps I loved episode 2 and 3)

No one(in America) has seen this movie yet.

I wonder if someone will sub the Japanese dub before April rolls around.
That sounds pretty complicated.

An English sub of a Japanese dub of an English movie based off of a Japanese series.

Yeah, I know but I do not trust anything a fan touched, I will just wait until the movie comes out here in the States.

Err, the review referenced is on the Korea Herald's website.

Question for Greg though: What role, if any, did Kaiosama play in this film? One of the pieces on the soundtrack is named after him which had caused quite a bit of speculation.

No offense, but no such thing exists. Every critic has some bias. Hell, every human being has some bias. Besides, what does it matter that they aren't American? The studio saw some advantage to premiering the movie overseas and even cast a few prominent Japanese/Chinese/Korean celebrities in main roles.

I am waiting for a Roger Ebert review(if he does one), we seem to see eye to eye on most movies.
