No, but they can be used to convey a lack of seriousness that could not be conveyed in just text form.Olivier Hague wrote:I'm not sure they exist so that you can call people "pathetic" and get away with it.

So when are we gonna start see ads on TV in North America. I still see ads for Coraline, and none for DB:E. FOX is interesting like that it seems.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
Ha ha, zing.
Anyway, back on topic. I am tired of people saying this movie "raped" :
A. Them
B. DBZ
C. The Public
And so on. If the movie sucks, then it sucks. It really isn't the biggest deal. I mean, it's not like they stopped making DB games after Ultimate Battle 22, and playing that game I am sure will be worse than watching DB:E.

I believe some fans are worried about how the larger public may see Dragon Ball after the movie. I think it could be argued that wasn't exactly a concern with Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Battle 22.omegacwa wrote:If the movie sucks, then it sucks. It really isn't the biggest deal. Oh, but one can argue that Street Fighter has not been phased at all by either of it's terrible movies. Nor was Super Mario Bros. and so on. I really don't think the public image will change that much.Olivier Hague wrote:I believe some fans are worried about how the larger public may see Dragon Ball after the movie. He makes a good point. Anyone who says this movie is going to greatly "change" Dragonball as a series is out of their mind. When I think Super Mario Brothers the first thing that pops into my head is not "Man, they made a shitty movie out of that." and it definitely isn't the case for Street Fighter either. The movies for those franchises are only a small blip on the radar.omegacwa wrote:Oh, but one can argue that Street Fighter has not been phased at all by either of it's terrible movies. That might have something to do with the fact they're both games, and not story-driven ones at that. The plot of a Street Fighter movie being moronic won't mean anything about the quality of the original fighting game.omegacwa wrote:one can argue that Street Fighter has not been phased at all by either of it's terrible movies. That's not what I said, was it?SSJ2bardock wrote:Anyone who says this movie is going to greatly "change" Dragonball as a series is out of their mind.
Well, the movie came out yesterday in Hong Kong. And looking through Chinese forums, the verdict is out. The movie sucks. It appears that Goku and Piccolo's final fight is a little too short. And from what they seem to be saying, it doesn't feel like Dragon Ball at all despite having some scenes in between that basically rip the pages of the manga.
The world is your's.

Those words have been floating around since Omae gave his review. And so, I believe that most of you, who haven't seen the movie yet, are exaggerating what others are saying in their own reviews of the film.tinlunlau wrote: rip the pages of the manga.

I never said that anyone lied. I just said that some of this is being exaggerated. I've seen the final battle and the Shenlong summoning. They were not as bad as some of us are led to believe. If I end up seeing the actual film in April, I'll give it a 5/10.Cypher wrote:Why do you believe that, Pain? Isn't it possible they're telling the truth?

Yeah, I didn't think the scenes were INCREDIBLY bad, to be honest...perhaps not what everyone dreamed of, but I didn't want to rip my eyes out. That said, after watching the whole film I might change my mind, but I haven't even looked up the UK release date yet.

So you have a problem with some possible exaggerations regarding the reviews... and then you give a 5/10 to a movie you haven't seen yet?Pain wrote:If I end up seeing the actual film in April, I'll give it a 5/10.
Whah?
