Yes, it's corny. But if it had been Leia and Han Solo saying it, I think I would have believed it. The acting in the prequels felt unemotional and the characters had no chemistry.

You're right though, the script doesn't help. That's why I don't insult Hayden himself, I insult his Anakin. And unfortunately it's him as Anakin that springs to mind when I see Chatwin as Goku. :?

I seem to remember Harrison Ford had Han Solo's reply to Leia's "I love you" changed from "I love you too" to "I know".
Lucas just needs people to disagree with him (and win the argument) once in a while.

Aint it cool news gave it a good review.
AICN has been a Watchmen-whore for about a month now. That movie stunk. That site lost its opinion credibility a long, long time ago...
Watchmen was Amazing...
Achem, about THIS movie... I've given up hope it'll be awesome-good a long time ago, Greg's review just cements that view a little bit more...
I DO however, still hold out hope it may be "Snakes on a Plane" good. as in, SO BAD it's actually hysterical...

EDIT: Also, Oliver, Empire actually wasn't directed by Lucas, it was Directed by Irvin Kirshner. the Prequels probabily would have been awesome had he brought Kirshner back to direct.
Lucas movies are always the best if he's not the director... Just a producer and/or writer... I mean, just look at the first 3 Indiana Jones films...

I keep hearing that, but so far, I have yet to see a Hayden Christensen movie where he was actually tolerable, much less "decent."

But I guess it's all just a matter of personal taste.

I know that, but that was back when Lucas (who was the driving force behind the series) actually had people who disagreed with him and he sometimes would let them. After that, he pretty much was his only council (heck, I believe he ghost-directed Return of the Jedi).

I went and saw Watchmen in IMAX at the Tropicana Casino, it was a packed house. By hour two, about 2/3 of the audience had walked out. I wasn't one of them but I sure envied them.

DBE is going to FLOP. It's less than one month away and I haven't seen one bit of promotion. And don't say the Tony Hawk thing is of any value. The trailer is OnDemand but the sound is off. I can't wait for people a few months from now to say "They made a DragonBall Movie??" when they see the DVD on shelves.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if people were to say that about the DVD. I've seen no TV ads, no posters, no billboards, or anything else out there in rl related to promoting the movie.

And Jappo's site says there's only 25 days left to go?

*Low-whistle*

I'm really disappointed when I think of what this movie could have been instead of what it turned out to be. :(
On hiatus.

Hayden Christensen was very good in the movie Life is a House, but that's a fairly obscure film.

Also, not only have I seen the trailer for evolution in theaters I also saw the poster for it. This was in two separate theaters. Save for TV spots, that's about as much advertising most movies get.

Not at all.

About the movie flopping...I wouldn't be so quick to assume that. Yes, we fans seem to all hate it, but what about the little kids for whom this movie is aimed? They could turn out in droves regardless of how negative the reviews are.

My mother said she saw a trailer at my states biggest theater. I dunno which movie (she was out on sick leave for a few weeks, and once she got up and about she was at the theater like it was her new job or something).

I also saw the poster up next to the auditorium showing "Race To Witch Mountain" at a different theater yesterday.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

You, sir, have hit the nail on the head. I don't wanna derail this thread too much, but here's an interesting story:

So, they're going along with the filming, right? Lucas throws a FIT and tells everyone that they're doing it wrong, then goes to edit what they have so far... and EVERYONE tells him it's crap. So in short, Lucas can't make a good movie on his own (except for Raiders, surprisingly that was all his).
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I don't seem to hate the film, at all. And yes: The children will probably get this movie to about 178 million.

This movie is barely going to pass 100 million. It's gonna debut at 3rd place at the box office and fall off the top ten in a week. If they released this same movie at the height of the DBZ sensation in the US, it would easily get 200 mil.

How do you know? And does anyone know how much DBE is making in Japan?

I would love to have this information... If anything, where can you find these kind of numbers?

Being that it only came out in Japan a few days ago, I can't find any English-based Box Office sites with Japanese box office info that goes past the 8th.

You won't either. Most sites update weekly, so it wouldn't be up until Monday I'm assuming.

I know it makes people say "Devilman" a lot on 2 Channel.
In other words, probably not much.
