The Dragonball AF Toys of Mexico

Post by Oldphan » Sun Mar 15, 2009 3:42 pm

Hey there everyone! I recently posted two videos on Youtube showing off my collection of Dragonball AF items, including 6 large action figures which are all based off of Dragonball fan art - the artists of which are for the most part totally unknown to me. I'm posting these videos here now, because I was hoping some of you out there who may be more educated about AF history might be able to shine some light on where these images come from. To my knowledge, these artist don't know that their work is being used like this, though I could of course be wrong.

As far as I know, I have the largest collection of AF 'merchandise' going, and I'm amazed by how much of this stuff is being released... I'm really not a big AF fan, but I do think it's incredible how far this idea has come, and to what levels people out there are taking it.

Esthetically, these figures are irresistible to me. I of course believe that official releases should be the ones to get the business, but I can't help myself when I see these really bizarre bootleg items like these - I just have to hold them in my hands, and learn more about them. I did actually lead test these in the videos, so at the very least we know that they are safe, despite all of their many infringements.

So did anyone else here buy any of these? I would be very interested in seeing anyone else's collection of them, as they came in a huge variety of colors.

Thanks!

All the best,
Oldphan

How do you make toys out of something that doesn't exist...

Awesome figures though.

Man... Those are actually pretty damn cool! All the bootlegs I've seen have been extremely shitty.

Lawlz at the lead test.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

That was...pretty interesting. I don't have much to say other than the hair is pretty cool. I like the metallic colors.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.
