Glenat to release French Kanzenban in March

Post by Dayspring » Sat Feb 21, 2009 5:27 pm

Sarting March 19, Glenat will be releasing a "Perfect Edition" volume of Dragonball once every 5-6 weeks. 34 are slated, and the covers are those of the Kanzenban. Each Perfect Edition is 220-240 pages.

Also, it seems there will be a Dragonball Evolution "artbook" of 160 pages in length being released by VIZ. Source: Glenat's French version (August 9) lists VIZ Media as the original untranslated edition.

No news about the other French daizenshuu rumors, but seeing as Glenat's using Evolution as an excuse to re-print the first one, as well as to publish the Kanzenban and a translation of the Evolution picture book, I wouldn't be surprised if more daizenshuu are in the works.

We also have the releases of Glénat here, including the upcoming Kanzenban which was supposed to come out last January but will be released in March according to the websites of Dutch bookstores.
Considering the French and Dutch releases will be in the same month, I really start to wonder if they really did a Japanese > dutch translation instead of the Japanese > French > Dutch translation we got these past years... *crosses fingers*
It's listed as "Dragon Ball The Ultimate edition part 1" and will cost € 11,75 which is about $14.

I know that there has been a Spanish release and a Chinese release of the kanzenban as well. What other countries got kanzenban releases? I guess there has (arguably) been an English kanzenban release with the VizBIG editions and whatnot.

Haha I too can't believe it. For the first time I'm happy I'm Dutch lol. Even though I don't know if I'm going to pay 34 x 11 Euros. BTW Bura what Dutch bookstore are you talking about.

Yeah, I bought all the original first printings of the first edition of Glenat's translation (back in the left to right days), so I'll only be buying the last Kanzenban for its alternate ending, and maybe to replace the tankoubon of mine that have pages falling out.

EDIT: Glenat's official site has the first three covers up.

Bruna.
Seems the Belgian/Dutch site of Glenat is very slow on updating...

Spain got a release in Catalan on top of Spanish. It's pretty cool to see "Bola de Drac" written on the Kanzenban cover!

God dammit, Glenat. They're just like Viz >_> I just need the last volume of the correctly done manga translation of the original mangas, and now they announce the kanzenbans...

I *wish* they were just like Viz. I *wish* Viz was releasing english Kanzenban!

Even with the edits they have now, I'd buy a Kanzenban edition of the manga in english.

If you haven't noticed, the VizBIG editions are basically the same thing as the kanzenban: larger, high-quality paper with color pages and superior printing quality.

I like the VizBigs, don't get me wrong. But I mean...with ALL color pages, please.

If the VizBigs had all color pages, I'd be COMPLETELY happy with them. But I'd drop them in a heartbeat for any edition with all color pages.

I love those color pages. A lot. =(

I agree with Super Ghost, the VIZBig's just don't cut it compared to the Kanzenban. If only they didn't just randomly leave out colour pages/entire chapters it would be great.

Hmm...does anyone think an online petition to VIZ or something would work? Or atleast, get their attention? I spose there's always the chance that VIZ'll release the Kanzenban after the VIZBig run finishes...maybe...

Probably another Glenat printing error. They got pushed back to March 19, so either these are available only in France, or Amazon.fr didn't update their info. Both Amazon.ca and Glenat's official site list March 19.

I think I'll wait until Amazon.ca gets them in. Shipping will be cheaper. :)

Well, according to all the bookstore sites the dutch Kanzenban should be out now. I'll check a store once I get the chance which is probably tomorrow. I'll be giving a small review once I have it =P

I'm guessing the people in France now have it too. It's sad that the dutch release wasn't mentioned in the last podcasts at all *sigh* :P
