I wouldn't put it past Fox to take some scissors and go crazy.
Oi...

It obviously wasn't all they shot. The point was that they cut out footage or opted not to do certain scenes from the script, which is all left out of the final product of the film.

All movies do this. They cut out scenes they figure they might not need or feel that might not be so great. You see these types of things as extras in DVDs. They're called "Deleted Scenes."

Honestly, stills don't always equal filmed scenes. Oftentimes, with actors in full costume/make-up on the set, still shots will be taken as promotional material. It doesn't mean the shots were still-frames of actual scenes, but conversely it also doesn't mean the scenes weren't filmed. It would just mean they were cut if they were filmed.

Anyway, if you want to wait for...err, another official release (the Asian release, as played in theatres, is official mind you), feel free. The movie won't change in theatrical form, I guarantee you 100%.

I meant I'll wait and see it in theaters when it is officially released worldwide on April 8th, not leaked when it's playing in Asia in only 8 countries or so with 18 minutes cut since the person holding the camera screwed up...
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Would he? The androids use an "infinite energy source", after all. Not ki. That's why they don't get tired and can't be sensed.

The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

I'm curious too. BoxOfficeMojo doesn't say anything yet.

Hate to interject, but this attitude is kinda bugging me. You seem to be overlooking that not everyone who has seen the Japanese release has done so via a pirated version. Some people were actually there, such as Julian and Greg, and I'm assuming most of us have heard what they've had to say by now. Greg's review was more of a traditional review of course, but Julian seemed to give more of a thorough run-down on the film during the podcast, and I don't recall him mentioning the scenes you say were cut. They could have easily been cut from the film altogether, and not to blame for the person holding the camera in the bootleg.

(note that I'm not saying I don't believe you that they were cut, or assuming Julian didn't miss/just not mention a few things, just that the pirated version isn't necessarily to blame for the scenes you say are missing)

Also, no one seemed to comment on my previous post... :(

For a while now some have speculated that the Asian theatres received rushed prints whereas the US will receive a far better edition. I think this is what JAPPO is hinting at, most likely because of unauthorized copies being posted on the net.

Are you forgetting that #19 and #20 could steal ki and use it to power themselves and get stronger? Super 17 could as well, if you count GT.

Maybe they can turn ki into this "Infinite Energy Source" when it is absorbed.

Nah, it's two different things. Only 16, 17 and 18 have infinite energy reactors.

But even if they do convert ki into some sort of other power source, that's still a machine harnessing ki to power itself.

Thanks for the scene snapshot Jappo, that was badass.

I'll have to hope they shot that scene and they'll put it in a deleted scene somewhere. I might get the dvd if they did.

Of course. They'll refilm a number of the scenes as well, recasting a few of the roles and redoing the CG completely

Seriously, are you guys joking? Before it was "wait to judge until you see the movie." Now it's "well...that's not the real movie. The real movie will be out when it hits North America." What will it be after that? "Wait until they release the Director's Cut"?

They absorb ki and yet they can't be sensed? Hm....maybe Toriyama didn't think that one out?

It's because of, um, Magic. Mechanical magic.

Anyway this is Fox, they do weird things at random. Fantastic Four played alternate versions of some scenes when shown in other countries.

No one said any of the above and if I was Fox that is exactly what I would have done to frustrate haters. Seriously, what would prevent them from doing what I mentioned? In the end if they are releasing a different edition or not, those that hate the movie will continue to hate it, matter of fact most of them have been speaking negatively of it since we first heard rumors of a live action film. I like it so I will support it regardless.
