To be honest, it's not like we haven't seen some fans in the Dragon Ball fanbase act like that before.

Take the whole group of anti-dubs, anti-subs, anti-FUNi and anti-Ocean fans for example.

I'm looking through one of the earliest live-action related threads (this one's from December 06) and Kaboom accurately predicted the entire basis of this movie back then:
1) DragonBall: Goku's origins, life on Earth, and the legend of the DragonBalls, with Piccolo Daimou as the villian.

*Wonders if she has any posts herself in said old thread*.

EDIT: I didn't post at all in it. :( I wanted to see what I thought too....

I did find an old Pre-Kai Kai thread though: http://db.schuby.org/daizex/viewtopic.php?t=4446
On hiatus.

Those TV spots....wh....what? I'm so confused by Fox's marketing of this film.
It's obviously being marketed toward kids from 5-12 years old who have never seen, or have seen only a little dragonball.

And I don't know why, but all of a sudden I find Jaime Chung ridiculously hot.

I'm definitely not saying you put extreme thought into that comment.

The newest US commercial spot was ... okay. Whoever is putting these together is showing the climax of the movie, which is a bit of a dis-service. The whole 'wanting to be normal' thing is annoying, but by now I should expect it. Car scene is best thing I've seen so far.

What is that track also playing the background after Rule and Goku opening the lockers? It played in the UK ones as well.

^ Brian Tyler talks about Dragonball (around the middle mark).

He definitely talks like a fanboy and knows his stuff. It's very interesting. He says he fought to get as much orchestra in the movie as possible.

That's interesting, JAPPO. I will give a listen to it later. What I mean to say, does anyone know the specific track that is played after Rule in the TV Spot?

Okay I just watch Dragonball Evolution and it was good movie, that's it folks. It had everything Dragonball had, and it also had shit that made no sense until the end.

I will give it 3 out of 5.....

Well, it certainly is pretty good for a stupid Americanized kid's movie version of Dragonball.

But as a serious Dragonball movie for adults it isn't good. To bad everyone thinks it's the latter when it really is the former.

How exactly is this an insult? The movie had very intentional comedic moments and cheesiness.

You think your laughing at it, but your not.

I saw a tv spot today. I thought I was prepared for how bad it was going to look. But its just horrible. It made my physically ill and nothing has ever done that. I would love to see the thought process that turns Dragonball into that.

People can say its an interpretation. BUt that implies it resembles the object being interpreted. This is more akin to

American: I would enjoy a hamburger.

interpreter: My bicycle is rough in rainbow.

Chinese man: ......

Physically ill? No movie has ever made me "physically ill" and believe me I've seen far, FAR worse than DB:E.

Do you watch a lot of films?

Yes I do and you arent going to find a movie based on another property worse. At least Fast and the Furious has the decency to be shitty on its own and not drag other beloved characters into it.

Not that I'm denying that Dragon Ball Evolution is bad (still haven't seen it), but Mortal Kombat Annihilation? Pretty bad...

Er... I wouldn't expect a "serious movie for adults".
But "pretty good for a stupid Americanized kid's movie version"? That simply does not sound good at all to me. Or you could say "as far as shit goes, this turd is actually not that bad".

The Legend of Chun-li.

Didn't take long to find.
AT best they are equally wretched. Though they do have a great deal in common.

This movie is in some quality company.
