The Tori-bot wrote: both of Piccolo's deaths. I found the one in GT a lot more emotional though, since it really was goodbye for him.

I'm sure Velasa will agree with me. ;)

The GT one just makes me angry.... and raises an intense urge to beat Gohan's head in with a chair.
It actually just makes me want to kill things.

Two times in particular.

I remember first, the death of Tenshinhan. The music, and the sacrifice was very heartfelt. But that was nothing compared to...

The death of Piccolo. I cried like a baby when I saw that for the first time in Japanese. Up to this point, especially in the Japanese version, you are led to believe that while Piccolo may have a a bit of soft spot for this kid, he is still very capable of being "The Demon King." However, when he sees Gohan about to bite the dust, and he runs, and that epic music cues in, all you can see is the terrified look on Piccolo's face as he runs to give his own life for the son of his arch-nemesis, who has stolen his heart.

That is easily the most touching scene in all of the series.

Yeah, Piccolo's sacrifice for Gohan was always a real tearjerker for me. Especially when he's all like "You were my only friend." I just lose it over that one.

I also cried when Namek exploded and I thought Gokuh had died. I just had this sense that all the events leading up to it from the begining of Z had been spiraling out of control, with him learning about the saiyans and getting all these crazy increases in power, so that things could only end in one giant bang! What a way to go...though, of course, as we all know, he didn't end up dying at all...

I'm pretty sure I also cried when Gokuh sacrificed himself against Cell, during the Trunk's special when he died of the heart disease, and at the end of GT when he disappears with Shenlong, so yeah, you can count on me crying at pretty much every Gokuh death scene, apparent or actual.

I don't know if that's saying much for how emotional the series is considering I cry like a baby about all things fictional.

For some reason when I first saw that I just never believed he could really be dead. It just didn't make sense or work out or something so I never believed it, and that part never hit me like that.

I do cry at that scene now though.... because Nameksei's gone. Poor beautiful little planet, after all the pain it's been through loosing all of its children and being ripped in half and bleeding for so long...

<_< I have this thing about Nameksei. I can't help it.

For me, it's when Goku is sad, he's always such an upbeat guy, for something to get to him, you know it has to be pretty awful.

One of the tiny moments that always pulls at my heartstrings is after Freeza has killed Kuririn, Goku says something along the lines of "You killed Kuririn!, he was my very best friend!", it's the subtlety of Masako Nozawa's performance and the fact that we never really hear Goku talk about his friends in that kind of way that makes it such a unique moment for me.

That and the obvious episode 64 of GT, something about Goku lying down on Shenlong's back saying "It's warm.." just reminds me of what a journey it has been, and how Goku finally gets to rest a little.

When I saw how bad GT was. >_>

Also, when Kuririn died during the Daimao Arc, since this is the only death in the series that really holds any weight, being before they established "Oh he died, we can just use the Dragon Balls to bring him back".
And When Piccolo sacrificed himself for Gohan, due to the fact that this is THE EVIL PICCOLO who wanted to take over he world just killed himself to save Son's kid. Not to mention that his death brought back the notion that these characters might not come back, due to the DBs disappearing when Piccolo died.

Never broken down into tears watching the show, but Krillin's first death really gets me. The shock value, the music, the dialogue and Goku's reaction.

This was one of the first major deaths in the series (and sadly one of the few) where I could really focus in on what happened and empathize with the characters rather than simply think "oh, when are they gonna be wished back".

A powerful moment...
