Contact was being hyped up to hell about being a movie involving aliens. Teaser trailers had a creepy tone to them, suggesting a slight bit of suspense and possible horror.

The final result turned out to be the main protagonist ending up in another dimension, seeing her dead father's ghost. :x

Oh wow...just...wow. I can't believe some people are just so...yeah. :\
omegacwa wrote:"Goku trains with Master Roshi to learn how to use his KAI" Yeah, he said Kai, and he repeated through the review. Also he said this.
That's the kind of thing that I always discourage. If someone's gonna make a negative review, they need to know what the hell they're talking about.

I believe I just lost faith in some folks. Seems to me that reviewer never saw Dragon Ball.

I just saw the movie without knowing anything about it so I thought it was pretty awesome. I guess if you went in with one idea and it wasn't anything like that it'd be annoying. This is why the way most movies are advertised... sucks.

Well ANN has a feature on DBE. Just had a look at it.

''According to producer Tim Van Rellin, the reasons for choosing Durango were partly the geography, which features craggy mountains that run through the state, but also the cost. “It takes a lot of money and takes a long time. We didn't have the time and we didn't have the money, so this place really worked well and the government here has been amazing,” he explained. ''

No time and money huh, well that figures.

Also, I have determined that the DB online community, outside of here, appears to be flat out morons.

I seriously watched two video reviews for this movie on youtube a few days ago and felt like killing myself.

One of the reviews was positive. Which was cool to see someone not bashing the shit out of the movie but he said the following thing which blew my mind.

"My one complaint with the movie is they call it the Kame Hame Ha. It's not the Kamehameha, it's the Kamayamaya Wave. I don't understand why they said it wrong!"

The second review, which was negative, was filled with the standard fan boy bashings but he lost all credibility with the following statements,

"Goku trains with Master Roshi to learn how to use his KAI" Yeah, he said Kai, and he repeated through the review. Also he said this.
"Goku turns in to a great ape, which he never did in the show, but they call it Ishru, what the fuck is Ishru, they never say that on the show. Goku says 'I am Ishru!' He isn't ishru, and he never turned into one."

I swear, there were a few other botches by both reviewers, but these are the people the represent our community, what a disgrace.

Negative review, just because I found it first.

I honestly can't find the positive one, the guy who posted it is Stormsink, but it's not on his profile.

Am I the only one that didn't realize at first that he was mangling Oozaru? My first thoughts were, "Hey, he's right. The Oozarus were never called Ishrus. Why's Goku calling himself that?"

Maybe I'm slow. :(

My guess is to hopefully beef up weekend sales in an attempt to make it the No 1 movie in America. If it had been released on Wednesday, 20 somethings and kids who have the day off would go see it then, and that money isn't counted toward the opening weekend total.

Because releasing a PG movie aimed at kids on a school day was beyond stupid most likley. The official movie website lists 4/10, so that does seem to be the real date.

It actually took me about five minutes to come up with a decent idea of what the hell an "Ishru" was. I mean, I clearly heard Chatwin say "Oozaru". So where in the world is this guy getting the whole "Ishru" thing from? Maybe he got a bad bootleg version of the film, so the sound was all screwy, and he couldn't hear Chatwin and the others very well?

It's a video of the Japanese Premiere.

Is that number from the video info correct? If it's already made about 40 million in just Asian theaters, I don't think there's any worry anymore about it making a profit.

Also, good to see everyone there had fun.

Oh, thank Shenron. There's still a small chance this movie might not be popular enough to see a sequel.

If it does turn enough of a profit and a sequel is made hopefully the people behind it are given the freedom to stay more true to the source material.
